'Gangster Squad' Delayed Following Aurora Shooting

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone‘s The Gangster Squad will be delayed until next year in light of the movie theater shooting last week in Aurora, Colo.

A pivotal moment in the film features a scene in which a gunman opens fire on a movie theater from behind the screen. The delay will allow the filmmakers time to do reshoots and edit out the scene, according to Variety.

The Gangster Squad will now be released in theaters on January 11. No word yet if there will be a limited release in December to allow the film eligibility in next year’s Oscar race.
