OlderNicole Kidman, Royals & More Watch London Olympics Opening Ceremony - Pics!
Nicole Kidman and Duchess Kate join hundreds of thousands people to watch the 2012 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony on Friday (July 27) at the Olympics Stadium in London, England.
The 30-year-old Duchess of Cambridge, who was joined by her husband Prince William, met up with dignitaries from around the world earlier in the day at Buckingham Palace. Princess Charlene and Prince Albert of Monaco also attended the ceremony!
“At the Olympics with omega! Amazing!!” Nicole wrote on her Facebook.
The opening ceremony is called “The Isles of Wonder” and Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle is serving as the artistic director for the mega-event.

The opening ceremony was silly at times, embarrassing occasionally and made you wish they had taken an American producer/ director to actually do it right.

Those brits don’t seem to do show-biz well and instead of focusing on their strength, mainly their incredibly gifted rock legends, they try to bring odd and boring themes of nannies and children (is this the 30s? or the 19 certury?) and some trying to imitate a hollywood “love story” done poorly and bring in some rapper.
Simply the worst opening ceremony, and trying to be America but not good enough as the original.

@riri: You’re kidding right? You do know that the ‘nannies’ theme was from Mary Poppins? They didn’t imitate anyone, they did it their way and that definitely wasn’t just ‘some rapper’. Also, what exactly are you referring to as the original? Are you seriously trying to say that America somehow set the standard for the opening ceremonies and became ‘the original’? You’re obviously just ignorant and too stupid to understand the meaning of every single act you saw tonight. And by the way, the ceremony is still far from over, I have no idea how you managed to judge it so soon.

Britain has been doing pomp and circumstance for centuries. They do it far better than the US. And that is nothing against the US. You seem very young and immature. So far everything I’ve read on the UK sites and the European sites is very complimentary. Britain is not the US and it should try and BE or IMITATE the US. This was distinctly British and European. Travel some and then hang your head in shame for your narrow view point.
