OlderCate Blanchett Ends 'Uncle Vanya' & Jets Out of NYC
Cate Blanchett wheels her luggage through the airport while catching a flight at JFK on Sunday (July 29) in New York City.
The evening before, the 43-year-old actress ended her limited run in Uncle Vanya at the Lincoln Theater Festival. The production, which originated with the Sydney Theater Company, ran for only ten performances in the Big Apple.

@Liz: Epic fail. Cate is phenomenally talented and is worth every accolade bestowed upon her. Have seen her in 3 staged productions (Streetcar, Vanya & then most recently in London w/ Gross und Klein) and she was beyond AMAZING in all 3. She’s the greatest stage actress I’ve seen and isn’t praised enough IMO.
Callous global warming zealot. Overrated actor. Glamourpuss. Too many unflattering photogs. She hates her fans and thinks you’re all a bunch of wannabe losers. She’s grossly undereducated to be our Global Green Goddess. She studied Al Gore Power Point files. How impressive. For every movie she’s decent in there are two in which she is miscast and really sucks. Her daily rants about her damn skin and hair and makeup routines make me sick. I saw her in STC’s “War of the Roses” and her interpretation of Richard II was trite and low class. The scene in which she raises a leg and urinates like a dog was rich.
