    A truly amazing career. Also, retirement at 27. Very well done! :)

  • Fassdong

    I’m going to miss this sexy beast! :(

  • http://website,computer Dave From Canada

    While I don’t have anything against this great athlete, I think I’m getting Michael Phelps fatigue. With all due respect, please, no more news about him for awhile.

  • Anna

    @Dave From Canada:

    You can’t be serious. Compared to other celebrities who get so much more exposure (even when they are just shopping), you ask for no more news about Michael Phelps?? I would like to have a dozen more news about him then most of the other people that gets published here! And the only time we see him is when he’s swimming!
    And I’m sure since he’s retiring after this year’s Olympics, you won’t be seeing much news about him anyways… which maybe makes you happy, but it makes me terribly sad.
    By the way, I’m not trying to attack you, it just irritates me when people say this kind of things to people that don’t even get mentioned that much.

    Anyways, congrats Michael!!! You have definitely done the USA proud!! There definitely won’t be another one like you I’m sure of it (even if you still have some great swimmers)! I wish you wouldn’t retire, but I guess you deserve a (very much) early retirement! Good luck with of your future endeavors! …And don’t stop tweeting!! I need my Michael Phelps fix somehow or another! ;D

  • Golden Boy

    He’s going to be a sports announcer after the games so we will still see him on television.

  • [~Fug Face Man!ston~]

    …I enjoyed watching him swim. He’s the greatest.

  • Tracy

    Damn he’s ugly

  • Sheri

    KUdos to Michael Phelps for a fantastic Olympic career, but shame to the committee that chose that God-awful trophy for him. Looks like a piece of scrap metal they just picked up – can’t even tell what it’s supposed to be.

  • ScarlettMelody

    @Tracy: Damn you’re pathetic!

  • Haters Suck!

    Beast mode. Dude is a freaking monster. 18 gold out of 22 medals will never be done again. Made America proud Mike.

  • Lawrence

    Good for you Mike!, you deserve it sweetie.

  • Nikki

    Just watched his last race. I look up to him so much, and I’m so glad that he ended his career on top- a place where he belongs, and will remain forever. He has stayed so humble and is always grateful for all of his endeavors. It’s people like these who are inspirations to us out there, and I’m thankful to have a man, athlete and role model like him to look up to. Michael Phelps thank you for being a true hero.

    Aww. It’s such a moment. Glad he’s ending it at his peak. It’s a real nice way to get out of the game nice and clean. :)

  • DakotaF

    Awesome athlete and inspiritional man. Well done and congratulations on such a stunning achievement

  • ADA

    He needs his grill fixed ASAP!

  • ScarlettMelody

    @ADA: Maybe you need to shut up ASAP……I’m tired of people bashing him when he’s achieved more than anyone could even dream up. He deserves all the accolades he gets for his dedication to the sport and representing our country with dignity….not snarky comments. Seriously, get a life!

  • Altrixi

    And yet his behaviour was disgusting at the 200m individual medley’s medal ceremony. maybe he is the best athlet ever, but the biggest jerk too…

    Congratulations Michael and USA! We`re proud of you too for the inspiration you inspire to all people.

  • http://slowbuddy.com sohaib

    Why…He is retiring in very young age….swimmers can swim till 32… Phelps don’t retire play next Brazilian Olympic also….

  • Laura

    I miss him already. He’s such an inspiration. Thanks, Michael, for everything. :’)

    Btw – how can people call him ugly is beyond me. I mean, he he’s got that adorable kicked-puppy look going on… and his smile is just so sincere and addictive. Yes, he’s not conventionally attractive, but that doesn’t make him ugly. Far from it.

  • Magic Mike Phelps

    I cannot get his body out of my head. I stayed up till 2am watching the US swim team win while my boyfriend slept in the other room…i was sad when it was it was over. All i have to say is Mens competitive swimming is pretty much the best sport ever.

  • USASwimfan

    Congrats to you, such an inspiration to the USA!! Phelps is Olympic gold.

  • loelr

    He’s so fugly that his face scares me… since he won’t swim anymore, he should play on Scary Movie 5 with Ashley Tisdale and maybe Kim Kardashian and Russel Brand.

  • Lisa

    Congratulations Michael! It’s been an amazing 8 years watching!

  • Media Storm

    @loelr:
    His face scares you? Thank god we cannot see you…

  • British Latin American

    @sohaib: It’s nice that you want Michael to Race in another olympics, but who said that 32 was the cut-off age?

  • noprobBOB

    @Anna: THANK YOU…I would much rather see news about the greatest olympian my country has ever seen than mila kunis grocery shopping anyday! Congrats Michael Phelps, I hope swimmers in the next olympics continue to use you as inspiration!

  • http://pakichill.blogspot.com/ Jordon
