The film is a 1950s-set drama centered on the relationship between a charismatic intellectual known as “the Master” (Philip Seymour Hoffman) whose faith-based organization begins to catch on in America, and a young drifter (Joaquin Phoenix) who becomes his right-hand man.

Paul Thomas Anderson, the 5-time Academy Award-nominated writer/director of There Will Be Blood, wrote and directed the film!
The Master is set to be released in theaters on September 21.

I’m not trying to be clever or cute here, or even sarcastic. The Master does look to be like some kind of a brilliant David Lynch masterpiece replacement counterfeit job; since the original master himself is just too lazy or afraid these days to go to work on his next feature length mainstream big budget movie with a cast full of A-list believers working for scale. Old age can do that to you…

Joaquin, mon chere, I have not forgotten the day you walked the dogs and came to chat here. You inquired as to whether your butt looked high enough and I responded that it was coming out of the top of your pants. Darling, it appears you’ve lost a lot of weight since then. You’re down to skin and bones I’d love to jump. Eat some pasta and bulk up a bit. I want to be able to pinch THOSE cheeks ;)
