@Helo not every star in hollywood likes receiving awards especially useless ones such as this. the so called philanthropic work Mr Affleck does in Congo is a fraud he does it only for positive press not because he cares about those people. an actual true Philanthropist doesn’t care about the acolades they receive for their work they do it because they care about the less fortunate a shinning example is the work Joanne Woodward does on behalf of children with aids/autism/blood diseases and cancer through the Serious fun childen’s network a series of free camps and programs she and her beloved late husband Paul Newman set up in 1986 which now has 22 camps in 17 countries and services 135k kids annually at no cost to the families

  • Well Done!!

Doing something starts at home buddy.

@Courtney: Perhaps you should google his work in Congo before you make such negative statements. He has done an amazing job at supporting the people of Congo, especially women and children. If he was such a fraud I doubt very much John McCain’s wife would have partnered with him on his efforts. Many of the people he helps are war refugees. His foundation has helped to get them safe living conditions. And it isn’t a contest between celebrities. We should be happy about all people who give back to others – whether Ben Affleck, Joanne Woodward or my neighbor down the street.

I don’t think there other family in Hollywood I love more them.Beautiful, humble kind and ,well adjusted .They are setting a good example for their kids.I heard after Violet and Sera had a lemonade stand ,they gave their money they made to charity ….good for them :)

  • Melanie

Why don’t the likes of Ben Affleck, George Clooney and Matt Damon realise that charity starts at home and start doing something for AMERICANS that are struggling instead of their precious Africa? Maybe because the international PR opportunities aren’t as good if they help poor AMERICANS instead?
