Director Tony Scott Commits Suicide, Jumps From Bridge

Famed director Tony Scott has died after jumping to his death from the Vincent Thomas Bridge on Sunday (August 19) in San Pedro, Calif.

The 68-year-old director (and the younger brother of fellow director Ridley Scott) jumped from the bridge at around 12:30pm and left a suicide note in his car, which was parked on one of the eastbound lanes of the bridge, according to TMZ.

Tony had directed such films as Top Gun, Days of Thunder, Spy Game, Man on Fire, The Taking of Pelham 123, and most recently, Unstoppable. He was also slated to direct a sequel to Top Gun.

We send our condolences to Tony‘s family and friends at this difficult time.

RIP Good director

This just saddens me because although many people overcome their issues there are many who suffer so intensly but look perfectly normal on the outside. I wish things could have been different for him but at least he is at peace now, prayers and thoughts with the family. Rest in peace.

I wonder if he was perhaps ill? Disease?

Regardless, very tragic.

The world loses too many innocent souls to mental illness. RIP.

(I’d like to know if he was a Scientologist…that might explain a lot.)

OMG! I’m speechless! So tragical!
It was so talented!
RIP!

WHAT THE HELL!!!!!! WHY? Oh, come on man.

May he RIP! He almost lived a full life, at 68 years old.

Rest in peace, Tony.

according to early reports, He had a helpless advanced case of brain cancer

So very sad. He did so much brilliant work, True Romance for one. It’s shocking to think that someone could be pushed to such place but at least now maybe he’ll find some peace.

Sad & shocking. Love both Scott brother’s films, thoughts with his wife, kids & the rest of his family. So sad.

He had inoperable brain cancer if that’s the case I don’t blame him for what he did.
