Brooklyn Decker: Arctic Wildlife Refuge Camping Trip!

Brooklyn Decker poses for a picture at her Sierra Club Outing during a camping trip to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska.

The 25-year-old actress and goodwill ambassador for the club recently spent one week in the refuge where she learned about conservation, climate change, and continuous threats of oil development to the area.

Brooklyn also went hiking, white water rafting, swam in the chilly Arctic river, saw the Northern Lights, and more! Only about fifty people visit the site each year.

“Getting outdoors has always been an important part of my life,” Brooklyn said in a statement. “Going on a Sierra Club Outing to the Arctic was an enlightening experience and gave me a chance to reconnect with nature. Anyone who spends time enjoying our planet knows exactly why it’s important to protect places like the Arctic.”

“Still in awe of the incredible trip I had to the Alaskan Arctic w/ @Sierra_Club,” she added on her Twitter.

    WTF? Says:

Quite a nature trek. But why only 50 people a year go there? Is it because the earth up there is sensitive to human beings trodding on it? Must one be pary of the elites to get the invite from the owner? Wait! Who owns the land that’s being “preserved”? Is it only rich people who can donate money who get one of the 50 invites? Silly people!! Earth doesn’t require preserving, just my country’s freedom from the taxes and regs. that stalk my business! I’m pissed right now because I hate the way everyone worries about the “earth” but not about our daily life in our hometowns getting poorer and poorer! (Can you tell I just paid 3 kinds of taxes to 3 diff agencies today?:(

@WTF?: A deteriorated environment leads to the reduction of environmental goods and services, and hence to POVERTY. Perhaps you should start reading some institutional reports and scientific articles on the matter… YOU FOOL!

What else can she do really, now that she’s not fresh news anymore and her “career” is nowhere?? I don’t like people who do this kind of thing for publicity.

I’ll save my admiration for people who are actually DOING some good out there in the world, like Doctors Without Borders. All this famew-ore had to do was go out on a camping trip, take some pretty pictures, so that she could show up here on a good-note post and make everyone go “awww”. Nice timing too, since basically no one cares about what she’s been up to.
