Alexander Skarsgard Covers 'GQ Style Australia'
Alexander Skarsgard is smoldering on the cover of GQ Style Australia‘s Spring/Summer issue, on newsstands this Monday (September 3).
Here’s what the 36-year-old actor had to share with the mag:
On comic-con: “There was a motorcade from the hotel in through the garage and up into the building…[screams were] deafening.”
On his experience in the military: “We were out in the woods in the middle of the winter for 10 days. We didn’t really have any food or any sleep. It got to a point where people started to hallucinate and, you know, talk to their weapons. And cry. There was a moment where you’re, like, ‘I’m gonna die in five minutes.”

A very good weekend ahead after seeing these..very good indeed!
Oh come on…you were never in any real danger. It’s not like you did any foreign service or anything.
“Experience in the military”. Asså patetiskt att vara 35 och fortfarande snacka om lumpen!
I like his hair, very similar to mine. Lol!
AS goes to his standard puppy dog eyes and arm cross pose. He looks so worried. Liked his GQ germany much better.
sexy
@Sara: Well, he’s noted that in many an interview, that Sweden’s been neutral for hundreds of years and it’s not like he was going to be protecting them from an invasion and he wasn’t in a branch that does peacekeeping.
But this, at 19: We were out in the woods in the middle of the winter for 10 days. We didn’t really have any food or any sleep.
Yeah, you probably think you’re going to die, no matter what military you’re training for.
He looks incredible on these pics :) I like his hairy chest and hands … very manly …
@Sara:
varför är det patetisk, han bara svarade på en fråga?
och jag har hört av vänner att vinterlägret är det tyngsta de har varit med om någonsins förutom att tjäna utomlands.
He’s a beauitful people (inside and out).
he looks like he’s in pain
God he is gorgeous. I swear he was carved by angels.
He is such a man!!!!!
Overrated
” aaaaaaaaaaah *_* ” as usual
His silly face cover is horrible.
He smoulders. Hotter then ever.
Okay that man can be reaaaaally attractive in True Blood, okay….okay…
But this picture is the worst I ever seen of a man in my life, WTF, it’s like he is begging for some Nuttela..lol
@Mo: He was probably responding to a question, the same questions he gets all the time. And he was referring to the training itself. As I already commented, he’s mentioned before he knows it’s not as if he was in actual battle or at war. But that doesn’t mean the training wasn’t difficult.
Let’s throw you into the woods, never mind in winter, without little food and sleep deprivation and see how you feel at the end of it.
I love you AS but you look so worried, scratching a strange itch, just hear some really bad news or all three on this cover. The biceps are banging though. LOL.
@ladybug: I find it amusing that people are so protective of him. I’m not saying it wasn’t tough but I am saying it was for ten days, 17 years ago and he should stop answering questions about it as if it was a bigger deal than it was.

@Mo: Not a matter of ‘protecting’ him.
What’s he going to say: I’ve already talked about that in countless interviews, bored now? He’s not that type of interviewee.
We should be happy the interviewer apparently didn’t ask about lions as an Eric inspiration and being naked.
Gorgeous!~~Super sexy!! ~~~~ Very hot !!!
Gorgeous!~~Super sexy!! ~~~~ Very hot !!!
Gorgeous!~~Super sexy!! ~~~~ Very hot !!!
Not the best cover, but the rest of the shoot is good. People are always going to bring up his military training to him, he’s good enough to answer the question. I wouldn’t want to do ten days in a Swedish winter!
Because he would have answered those, though the ‘bored now’ response would have been appropriate as well.
My god ! We needed these pictures especially after the Hidden set ones! puppy dog eyes indeed!
I hope we get to learn something new at least in this interview. They just ask him the same questions over and over again.
@Mo- I agree sometimes people are a bit too sensitive, defensive and overprotective here but in this case I think he gets asked this question because of the Battleship promo (DVD etc) and sometimes us AS fans who read everything under the sun about him forget that promotion is done in different markets around the world. Saying that I do think he does play too safe in his interviews but sometimes does let out a gem or two now and then.
What the hell is wronge with his facial expression???? is he in so much pain sitting on that chair? Must he a hard life earning millions, getting front cover shoots , shagging half of HW 21 yr old models/actress living in upscale west HW, driving a nice porshe expensive clothes/designers and still gives a **** expression with boring same answers to questions ……..”………”………”……..”"…….
Jared, you little darling little man; spoiling us like that. We are so spoiled to have these posted. aah *sights happily and goes back on the pics*
@Smile dude please: Bring that complaint up with the photographer and the photo editors, we’ve been asking for happy/goofy Skars photoshoots for awhile now. Maybe if he does a comedy we’ll stop getting Broody Skars photo-shoots.
@hmmmmmmm: I think one of the Australian tumblr sites mentioned this during his Battleship promo-he’s not as well known there and so some of of the questions are going to be repetitive for everyone else who’s read other interviews. And repetitive for him.
Maybe by next year we’ll have moved on from the military service/lion/naked etc. questions. Maybe.
@lizzie: Alex is beautiful here! About cover, it´s not his guilt, it´s editor´s choice.
Well hello there chest & biceps!
TV Guide Magazine: Will Anna be back full time right away after the birth of her twins in November?
Ball: She is. We’re moving production to January to accommodate her. And there will only be 10 shows next season partly because of Anna and partly because of the economics.
http://www.tvguide.com/News/True-Blood-Finale-Alan-Ball-1052519.aspx
only 10 episodes next season is BS especially if S6 will be the last one. this season i only started paying attention to the last 3 episodes
i just hope this means they will cut out the stupid side stores. ie the Alcide story lines
Awesome pictures! ..except for the one they choose for the cover
@lord: That’s what other sites are saying, they could get it down to 10 without sacrificing the main stories, so less wolfpack, and perhaps Terry and Arlene can go back to being normal and proving comic relief in small doses.
What in hell has everyone against this cover picture?? I love it!! It looks somehow invitingly, to sit down on his lap – especially with this look of him…;) LoL
..and I love it too, that he doesn’t shave his chest and arms like so much other HW types…this simply belongs to him…
As for the interview; I guess if they can’t ask him something private – then it’s normal that some questions will be asked again and again. I suppose there exist probably many more no-go’s like political topics, opinion about other actor/actress colleagues, directors; current social incidents etc. The risk to be false interpreted or cited is simply too big (as we sometimes could observe already in the past) – so what is left?
…ok, they could ask him at least once regarding art – as far as I know, they’ve never asked him up to now regarding his favourite pictures of famous art painter, for instance (Van Gogh? Dalí?) – and they’ve never asked him about his favourite architectural period…just two examples…
@Cafélady: Yep, no art, no design, could probably ask more questions about Hammarby, that would get him excited!, his favorite books, why does he wear a necklace with a chain held together by a safety pin, etc.
Once in a while there is actually a writer that does their homework and asks good questions about Alex’s life. We got to hear about his love of whale watching and that same writer also gave us an excellent description of his facial expression and attitude when asked about KB. We also heard about his driving around Asia with friends when he was younger from a reporter from Japan (?). Seems like the European and Asian journalists ask the good questions. He answered all sorts of things when he did the European TB tour in Poland.If it is asked in the right way, he’ll answer it. Maybe with Maise coming out, he’ll get asked about becoming a father someday :)
@Next- His American Men’s Journal interview was good and the whole Aussie GQ hasn’t been posted yet so why do we wait and see.
So much photoshopping. He is so ugly!!!
he looks like he’s hurt and I wanna hold him and say it’s gonna be ok so bad!
Hello bicep! Ding dang, he is a yummy, yummy man! Wish I was in Van city right now!
I love reading this .I am an older successful single man at present .I need an older woman who can love me back .I also uploaded my hot photos on Ŵėalthyluv. Ϲ○М…under the name of Craig..the largest and best club for seeking CEOs, successful and sexy people.users over 30 .if you girls see this comment,i hope you will check my photos out there.maybe you are the one whom i’m looking for!!LOL
I want to like, jump in to that magazine :)
So what happens when one of Alex’s exes works with another exes life partner/ fiancé?
http://www.deadline.com/2012/08/michael-polish-teams-with-evan-rachel-wood-on-18-wheel-butterfly/
What a delicious dish!.
@Next!: And with the Hidden we’ll get weight loss questions and with Disconnect we’ll get padding/bad clothing questions. Maybe some questions about what he does on the Internet.
The Men’s Journal interview was good, but as already mentioned, the interviewer did his homework, as did the the GQ interviewer. Put a little effort into your research, and have some different questions, and listen to what he says. He’s not an ‘easy’ interview, you’re going to have to do your job. But if you do your job, unless he’s really cranky, you’ll get a get a good interview. But if you don’t do your job well, it’s as my programmer friends like to to point out: Garbage In, Garbage Out.
I don’t like that deer in the headlights cover pic but at least he has more than one face expression. Other pics are just yummy! Also I don’t understand why some ppl always complain his repetitive answers. He should give a different answer in every interview? I can already imagine all the liar creams in my ears on the Vault and the p00p forum.
To me it’s kind of sweet that he doesn’t think he’s such a celebrity EVERYONE and their dogs have read all his interviews. He may be famous in Sweden but elsewhere his fame is based mostly on one tv series.
TV actors like Jon Hamm, Jason Momoa, Matt Bomer, Jensen Ackles to name a few are much more popular and well known in US and world wide.
@ladybug and @Cafelady. Those were good questions. Let’s hope we’ll get answers some day.
At least the styling is awesome ! I remember the Bullet magazine photos…..shudder…..they stuck him in those god awful red and blue suits and made him look like an 1960′s evangelist! With a lamb!!!!
Yes, there is a fair amount of airbrushing and photoshopping involved in this ( and a bad job too) ! but blame the editors and the over zealous photoshop guys! I personally hate it when they airbrush his under eye bags and when they try to chisel his so called ‘ potato nose’ ! I love them and hes still an exceptionally sexy man with those !
There are so many quesrions that they could ask him, like for eg his love for literature esp non fiction, music, football and sports. For that, the interviewers need to do some homework but sadly very few seem to do that. Since this is for GQ style, i a guessing there would be more questions regarding clothng and his personal style. We will know on the 3rd .
I agree with being the reporters asking the same questions over and over and the fact that most of those questions about the military experience have to do with promoting battleship so he just answers them adding bits here and there and he is not to blame if sometimes things are taken out of context and exaggerated a bit just for enphasizing the military background.
he looks gorgeous as always in these pics btw
also about the physical changes for this movie “Hidden” it goes to show how he wants to really get into character and is not afraid of looking less atractive, though I must tell you that this man will never look unatractive to me. he is simply too beautifull and I REALLY HOPE HE KEEPS THE HAIR LENGH AND HIS NATURAL COLOR FOR SEASON 6 It would suit the Eric from the books so much better, just saying
@Bumblebee I agree with you but also would like to point out that his under eye bags are not like they look in true blood where that horrible vampire make up makes everybody look much older and acentuates any facial features, even the much younger ones sometimes look awfull. Stephen moyer is not that old looking in real life either. Alex has always had those unique facial features even as a young child and I love his face just the way it is. sometimes because of too much white and thick make up the bags get enhanced. another think I noticed that towards the end of season 5 he was looking skinnier and was wondering why, then I found out he was actually starting to lose weight for that movie so let’s hope that after this movie id done he enjoys a nice vacation bulks up for season 6 and keeps the sexy long hair then we will all have an Skarsgasm LoL
I haven’t read anywhere that Season 6 is to be the last. The ratings this season especially for the finale were amazing for a series in its 5th season, HBO was quite happy. We never have any information about a renewal until the new season starts. I think it is great that they are doing what they are for Anna, it proves what all the cast says, they really are a family on that set.
I love all the pictures, I can’t help it, he is the most gorgeous and talented actors around and even the fact they the questions are the same. I remember someone said he wasn’t that well known down under, so to them the questions weren’t old news. Also, with him being as private as he is I am sure it is quite difficult to come up with new questions.
I don’t like the cover picture at all but the others are good.
Did he grow hair on his chest or is it photoshopped?
ohhh…ALEXANDER…sigh.
OMG, boner patrol!
@gloria: I’ve noticed in some pictures that his arms are quite hairy, but sometimes they’re waxed/shaved. It’s the same with his chest – usually no chest hair, but in that scene in TB s4, where he’s in bed with Sookie, you can see his chest is slightly hairy, with really short hairs, almost as if it was waxed few days/weeks before and new hairs started growing.
I would really love to see his chest hair more often. He should just leave it alone. It’s not that hairy anyway, just about right.
@ray:
Completely agree. Same with Pam, she looks haggard on TB sometimes, while in real life (personal candid pics/fanpics) she looks 10 years younger. She is in Africa now, in the wilderness and she doesn’t wear makeup there (I assume and the photos show it too) but she looks much fresher.
@mlllllllllllle: yea, if i see somebody like him in the streets i will think “what ugly man “,yea…mmmm, maybe you are seing the mirror and not the cover, i think.
His body is much darker in these photos. Either makeup or shopped that way. But look at the tumbler page pic here and he is just as hairy. In SD he was tanned and it was not as noticeable because his hair lightens when he is in the sun. But it has always been there.
Sorry forgot to paste link. Strong meds today. Also was supposed to read..’body hair is much darker”.
http://askarsswedishmeatballs.tumblr.com/
They’re probably only doing 10 episodes because they’re cutting 2 months of filming time to accomodate Anna having her babies in November. It’s nice that they’ll give her a couple of months to rest and get into a routine before filming starts. Plus it will give poor Alex some time to EAT!
@ray: REALLY HOPE HE KEEPS THE HAIR LENGH AND HIS NATURAL COLOR FOR SEASON 6 It would suit the Eric from the books so much better, just saying
Except it’ll be hard to do that, and explain how in the last scene of S5 he had shorter hair and then suddenly in the following seconds it’s much longer.
@mforman, my suspicion is that this will be the last season, I’ve had that feeling for a couple of years. But even if they are looking at having it the final season, highly unlikely they’d make that decision until much closer to the start of filming.
@ladybug: I will have to disagree @ladybug because he’s had different haircuts in almost every season especially the firsts 3 ones, remember in season 3 he had much darker hair than all the other seasons combined while season 1 was the wig and second the not so short hair sporting highlights, so I don’t see why he couldn’t, plus this is his natural hair we are seeing on the set of hidden why not keeping it that way? Plus it can come in handy for showing some flash backs of his viking era next season that would be awesome!
@Ray: Sadly, I wouldn’t be surprised, especially with a shortened season, that the time for Viking flashbacks is pretty much done. Haven’t had any for a couple of seasons, IIRC.
And if he didn’t cut the hair he’d have to wear a wig to maintain consistency with the the ending of S5 to the beginning S6.
So alex skars has A GF 23 years old? Is he that insecure that he feels someone in there late 20s early 30s r 2 old for him or 2 much women to handle that a23 yr old will do just about anything 4 him, marriage and kids.Very disappointed in him a 36 year old needs to date someone who is closer to his sister eija’s age. We shell see if he confirms Alicia or hides her like he normally does with most of his girls..? which you carmt really call women because there so young and insecure themselfs .in HW
@Insecure man:
Look man I know all is fair in Gossip but that’s all that this is gossip really bad one too, he is not that skillful as to have hide this well known swedish actress for 6 months in Sweden or LA. If he is out anywhere ppl tweet about it, he has not been in hiding the last couple of months. She herself has stated recently that it was a rumor plus she is homeless in LA she said that also in her interview, if she was dating him wouldn’t she have said that she was homeless? No, she would have at least stated that she was staying at a close friend. He lives alone if she was his gf and serious she would be staying with him.
This rumor is beyond ridiculous 6 months come on next thing they are going to come out and say that he has a 2 year old baby from a Japanese woman. I probably just helped write the next true love story. Sorry Alex.
@ladybug (#69)—–What has made you think for so long that Season 6 will be the last. I am just so curious, with the promotion of Mark Hudis (I think that is his name) and with the direction they have gone; also when I read what AB said in TV Guide, it didn’t seem like this coming season would be the end. Also with the ratings that HBO got for the season and especially the season finale, I would be surprised if that let it go just yet. It is definitely one of their biggest money makers, with Boardwalk Empire not doing as well as they had thought.
@mforman: A variety of reasons, including just a hunch. Could they go on for years, sure. But should they? 6 seasons is a good run for a tv series, especially on cable. And I think that S6 will end the contracts of those who started with the show (contracts were for 7 years, not seasons, IIRC).
I’d rather they end and have us wish they hadn’t than keep going and we wished they ended sooner.
Would I be surprised if they kept it through at least S7? No. But neither would I be surprised if they ended it next year.
@ladybug: Well maybe you are right, at least the first minutes they should show some continuity when it comes to appearance but then they should make some time pass to make it possible! I’m just saying that looking back at some of his pictures over the years his natural self is more Book Eric to me than some of the looks he’s sported on the show, though I like him in any version(he was so hot in Straw Dogs) anyways hair cuts and colors aside the truth is, he owned Eric Northman from day one and his flawless performance is what have made Eric one of the best characters of all time on tv, enough said!
@ladybug: #43 “Yep, no art, no design, could probably ask more questions about Hammarby, that would get him excited!, his favorite books, why does he wear a necklace with a chain held together by a safety pin, etc.”
Yep, the Hammarby question could be probably a hit – I could imagine that he would be thrilled to talk about it!…hmm, his favorite books…if I remember correct, then they had asked him about it already in any earlier interview – and if I’m here also correct, then he answered a bit evasively about it. (I can’t find the interview at the moment)
The necklace…yeah, this would be interesting..:)…first of all; why has the necklace two anchors instead of only one, and why is one of it smaller than the other, for instance..LoL…very nosy, isn’t it?..;)…I guess only one thing is probably for sure – it must mean something real personal and/or very special to him…may be it’s a memory for him, to a special place or situation or a person…who knows? :)
@Ray: There was more leeway for his hair changes in the first three seasons, as Eric’s storyline timeline had a little more wiggle room for that, particularly concerning the cliffhangers. Eric’s storyline doesn’t really have that anymore.
Could they skip some time from episode one or two to the next episodes? Sure. But all TB seasons have usually been very compressed time-wise, a couple of weeks or less. I don’t see them changing it now.
And, if he gets another movie role between now and January and he has to cut his hair for it, this discussion is all for naught! :)
@mforman: @ladybug: #74/75…I think there are reasons for a last season as well as for a further season 7.
If the contract is about 7 years, not 7 seasons – then HBO has the “problem” that the contracts will have a new basis for negotiations, especially the salary for the actors of the main characters.
And the longer the series will run, the longer they can get success – sure, but on the other hand the risk will rise up for the “x-files effect”. Means: in the case of “x-files” the audience became tired of the stories because the script and the stories became more and more weak. This could be also an risk for TB.
For the actors is it surely a two-sided thing – on one hand an relatively constantly income and an regularly and obviously well-liked job in a great team (this mentioned “family feeling”).
On the other hand the actors are very time-limited for other interesting and possible projects as long as they are contractually bound to TB.
I think, there will be a variety of reasons for the pros and cons for further seasons – but mostly the money will decide in the end.
Well as for the anchor necklace, in some countries I have been and some cultures I have learned that having an anchor necklace is a meaning of stability and sign of hope but I knew a guy that was in the army in angola and he had a fellow friend that had an anchor necklace and it meant that he wanted to keep someone that was dear to his heart very close because they kept him grounded and stabe in time of hardship. I have a friend who has an anchor tattoo on her collar bone and it meant that her boyfriend was her anchor. Now does this meaning apply to him: maybe yes or maybe not. Who knows?
But if no one has asked or tried to ask this kind of question; I think it is very personal for him to answer them. This is my personal opinion…
@Cafelady : @ladybug—-I think the main actors have gotten raises even before their contracts had to be re negotiated. Also AB made a point of saying that going down to 10 episodes was to help Anna (which I truly think is amazing and shows how much they really are like a family) but also due to economics.
Remember TB has been a non stop money maker and rating hit for HBO, not only with the show, but then when they also sell the box sets and all the merchandising that is featured in the HBO shop. It has been the most successful show since the Sopranos and those are some huge shoes to fill, but TB has done it year after year and this seasons ratings, especially the finale, was an amazing thing for a show in its fifth season.
I also think AB’s replacement has some amazing ideas for not only the upcoming season, but a season 7. I just cannot see them only giving this guy one year, remember he also got to negotiate a deal.
Of course money is always a factor, but I think that is why HBO always waits before they make the renewal annoucement, they want to see the ratings and see what the fans think, because I really believe they read the comments that are made.
I mean look at what was going on for TB and Comic Con this year. They needed motorcades, I mean from what the actors have said this year was the most crowded and crazy it has ever been, I cannot see HBO giving that up if the ratings continue the way they have and the ratings only continue to be great if the fans enjoy the storylines.
Of course, we really wont have any idea until the second or third episode of Season 6, I guess I am just not ready for it to end. I don’t think they could sum up all the storylines in one 10 episode season.
Sorry guys, but I hope I am right and we get a Season 7 and then 8.
@S (#80)—-I was so curious about this anchor thing that I found a very old article about him and this is what it says and you were correct, it said: “Wears a necklace with two anchors. In Nordic culture anchors are a sign of hope”.
@mforman: They didn’t have to limit to ten episodes just for Anna, though, just the start date, so I find it a bit odd. They’d really just have to extend filming through the middle/end of July.
However, they can wrap up story lines in 10 episodes, they just have to finally do what fans have been asking for since S2, more streamlined storytelling. I suspect that as they really start working on the writing for this season they will have scenarios in which this is the last season, and have those storylines that can be wrapped up, but also continued if they’re renewed.
Just because the actors got raises doesn’t mean the length of the contract was changed. And just because Hudis got a contract for a specific time frame doesn’t mean it can’t end before that. The leads for the Killing also had 7 year contracts. The series lasted 2 seasons. The people involved in TB are aware that just because they have contracts doesn’t mean they won’t be ended.
Could they go to 7 seasons? Yes. But I really doubt 8, I think they will be stretching it in terms of creative freshness, that’s normal in tv land (X-Files has already been mentioned). I’d rather it end on a high note than wonder it why it dragged on for more seasons than it should have.
@ladybug #83 amen to that last thought!
About the interviews, since he’s showed that he loves reading books I’d love to have a whole interview with him talking about his favorites books starting by the ones from his childhood up until now, that would be awesome!! and then we can all join “the Viking book club” LoL. Seriously though I love books and have read some of the ones I’ve seen him reading. A man that reads… what’s not to love about Him?
@Mo:
I totally agree, and I love him to pieces, so this is not a slap against him. But he’s 36 years old and did a very short service at age of 19, and he needs to stop talking about it. He also needs to stop saying how he’s a sergeant. He did 1.5 years of service. Even the South Korean mandatory service is a little over 2 years and they actually train for an attack on their country like it could really happen. When he says “I’m a sergeant” it just comes across as self-aggrandizing, frankly, and that is not who he is. Interviewer should ask him about books or something. He is very intelligent and a big reader. Also, the crossed arm pose, hand up to face pose, and hand behind the head pose ALL NEED TO BE RETIRED FOREVER. These poses are designed to showcase muscle definition in the arms. We all know his body is bangin’. Enough with the poses.
@Cafélady:
Or books. They could really ask him about books. Or hey, here’s a novel idea: he’s an ACTOR, ask him about movies.
This is not the final season of TB. HBO has always announced the series final season with all it’s hit shows like The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Entourage, Big Love. AB also said in an interview that they are setting up things now that will coincide with the later books and will play out in future seasons. Seasons plural being the optimum word there. Never fear, it’s not over yet. I think them scaling down to 10 episodes, may clean up the storylines and give us more focus on the main characters. We ‘ll see.
@ladybug—-I also stated that AB said another reason for just 10 episodes was ecomonics. Yes, of course being a fan you want the show to go out on a high note. The Killing was a critical success, but unfortuntatley after the first season dropped really low in the ratings and couldn’t grab the auidence back. Nobody in HW has a contract set in stone, but I think HBO was probably smart enough that when raises where handed out, so were contract extensions. Also, the actors might llike only 10 episodes, it means they have some extra time to do other projects.
Like I said, HBO is very happy with this show and I just do not see it departing after only 6 seasons.
Of course we can only wait and see what happens.
@Fat lady isn’t singing—You are right, I forgot about those annoucements they make to prepare the fans. I agree with you also that with 10 episodes they can really concentrate on the major storylines.
@Seiko—-Remember he is only answering the questions that he is asked. If the reporter asks about his military service again and again, he answers. We all wish these reporters would come up with some other questions, because he is a very interesting man, who is quite smart and I am sure even he would like to discuss more than the same things over and over.
@Seiko: I don’t think the poses are his ideas, isn’t it the photographer who dress you up and set the poses for the photoshoot? So let’s say this photoshoot was about flexing his muscles, i bet most of his fans have nothing against it another photoshoots go darker and portrait some kind of BDSM like that Interview mag a while back, another with some crazy blue and red and a lamb another one in weird positions in shorts without socks or with funny hats and the list goes on and on, maybe you have just saw the ones with the flexings I don’t know, my point is that that’s not for him to decide what the photographer wants to enphazise from a given photoshoot, just saying.
@Seiko: I do not disagree with what you are saying. But don’t put the blame on Alex for the poses in a photo shoot or the subject matter in an interview. Photographers ask for the poses they want. I know this first hand. I am a photographer. And journalist ask the questions in an interview. If he is ask the same questions he is going to give the same answers. At least he has told different stories about his military training to different journalist. But there are only so many to be told for a year and a half stint. As for him saying he is a sargent we have a saying here, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.” I am sure he feels the same about being in the service.
So be sure to put the blame where it goes. Alex has no control over the poses or the questions asked. Only the ones he won’t answer.
It’s funny how some Alex “fans” (whose MO = I love ASkars, but…) always complain about his interviews but NEVER say anything negative about Paquin’s or Manganiello’s repetitive answers. Paquins give way too much information about their sex life, Stephen’s kids and now Anna’s pregnancy. When she’s given birth to their twins we are doomed to hear every single detail about their kiddos and family life.
I haven’t either seen any complaints about Joe’s constant bragging about his work out, diet, strip tease moves and of course about how tall he is. He obviously thinks he’s the tallest guy in the world at his 6,5″. Didn’t he watch the Olympic games; there were swimmers, athletes, players much taller, more good looking and younger than him. His photo shoots are always very generic, shirtless alpha male and work out routine poses. I also find it funny how some of JM’s fans hate Alex’s ex gf fiercely but that doesn’t prevent them from being the fans of the biggest male attention/fame whåre who even used his fiancée to get attention and then dumped her when he thought he’s a big name in HW.
@lateinthegame: We just don’t talk about others here. This is for discussing Alex. Personally I have nothing about the other cast members of TB I just do not follow them closely unless it is a combination story that involves Alex.
@Texas Swede:
Fair enough, but I’ve seen a lot of talk about his girl friends, friends, family members etc here, so I don’t understand why we can’t discuss about Alex’s TB cast mates and their bitter fans when they keep bashing Alex here and on the other forums. This seems to be almost the only page where you have freedom of speech; elsewhere you get censored or banned if you say anything negative about AP, SM or JM while nasty, sometimes downright sick comments about Alex remain on said discussion boards.
That said, I only wanted to indicate how unfair some TB fans are towards Alex. They also seem to forget that Alex isn’t native English speaker and doesn’t come from bilingual family like Joel Kinnaman for example.
@lateinthegame: The cast members you mention usually have their own posts, we usually only bring them in peripherally. We’ll bring up Kristin on occasion, but then she doesn’t get her own posts on JJ and it’s not often that she’s brought up here.
@Seiko (and Mo): I do understand that you’re tired of him answering the question about his military training. Part of this seems to stem that it’s not training for a country that’s under any real threat for invasion. But what about Americans who reminisce about their military service, but never saw combat-I have several neighbors and friends who served but never saw combat and still will talk about some experience they had in training.
Or what about my friend’s brother, he’s in the Navy and now claims he has combat experience because he was a stationed on a ship in the Persian (Arabian) Gulf off the shore of Iraq. Never set foot in Iraq, ship was never under attack or shot at. Wouldn’t that also be self-aggrandizing?
@§: #80 …oh, I agree with you – this sort of question would be presumably very personal for him, I think. At least, after all what we could see and hear in interviews of him and so on, I doubt that he would answer this question. And with good reason, of course – because as already mentioned, this question is a bit personal.
My remark about the anchor-necklace was just a response to ladybug, respectively the attempt to spin further her idea in a not too serious, but also in a bit funny meant way. ;) (Even though the answer would be interesting, anyway! :) )
I also know and have read that the anchor is/can be a symbol for several things. But the fact that he wears the necklace practically always shows -in my view- that it apparently has a very personal meaning to him.
@Cafélady: His answer to the safety pin question is probably ‘It works, why fix it?”
They could ask about his helping Hammarby get a player this year.
@Cafelady—-Like I said in post #82, I found an old article that was pretty good and had a great explaination for the anchors:
“Wears a necklace with two anchors. In Nordic culture anchors are a sign of hope”.
This article also said he loves vanialla ice cream and sleeping on the right side of the bed, but is willing to negotiate that.
@ladybug: #96 …:)…I can almost see his face expression…when he would answer like you said…LoL..;)
Yeah, it’s known a while now, that he do a lot for it – to rescue Hammarby…what’s with that player? Will he himself search a player on the player-market for Hammarby (just a joke!) ;) ??…on the other hand…perhaps it wouldn’t be a bad idea for them, to hear on his piece of advice…:)
@mforman: #97
…I have read something similar (may be the same interview?) with his favorite ice-cream choice and the side of the bed…LoL…and yes, anchors are a sign of hope (among others)…but like I said, it seems anyway that it is additional something personal for him…just saying…
@mforman: #97…with me, he were not be forced to negotiate something – I sleep on the left side normally…LoL ;)
@Cafélady: So do I, but I suspect these would be very fun negotiations! :)
Here are the scans of the interview/pics:

@Cafelady @ladybug—–Sorry Cafelady I must agree with ladybug on this one, that would be some very fun negotiations. OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pat was so nice and shared this link with me from the GQ Style:

I just love everything it says about where he now lives in LA and what and who was the cause of the pap nonesense.
I really cannot wait to read this whole article.
Thanks again pat.
@mforman: It’s not a bad article and the pics are better than the cover. So yet another mag I’m going to have to find on eBay.
(waves to thumb troll)
Disconnect screened at Venice today:

@mforman: I love the article. I just wish they had not told where he bought a house. Now the paps will know where to look for him again. And he will probably change gyms to be closer to home too.
@Texas Swede: Well, he mentioned it, as he’d previously mentioned where he’s been living.
It does explain the sightings in March in Los Feliz/Silver Lake.
Los Feliz isn’t that far from where he was living, so I can’t see him changing if he likes the gym.
@ladybug:
LOL explains why a certain person is sometimes in Los Feliz instead of closer to where she lives. Wasn’t she taking the “art class” in Silver Lake?
@Macy: From last year? That was Pacific Palisades, which isn’t really that near there or where she lives in HWood.
@Texas Swede (#107)—-I known I really think for the first time the interviewer did his research and got him to talk or at least start to talk, before as the interviewer says, “Ever the gentleman, AS brings the conversation back to the paps.” Also I loved how AS stopped talking mid sentence, I guess when he realized he was starting to talk about the creature. He must have been very comfortable with this interviewer.
I don’t think the paps knowing he lives in Los Feliz, will cause him many problems. I think the paps have known where he has lived for a while and they seem to not bother him that much.
@ladybug (#104)—You and me both, if I can’t get the magazine on Amazon, I head over to EBay. I just cannot help it.
@ladybug:
Ah I remembered incorrectly. She has been in the Silver Lake area though, and Los Feliz a couple times.
I wonder if that was why he was spotted looking at design books last March, and why he went shopping at Williams Sonoma in that blue hoodie. Probably moving into his new place and away from people who like to follow him around.
@Macy: I thought the blue hoodie shopping trip was last year, not this.
But yes, the design book, the increase in sightings in his new ‘hood, it all makes sense now!
Yes, she’s been spotted in that area before, but it’s also not that far away from her.
@mforman, hadn’t seen it on eBay yet. This site should also have it:

@ladybug:
Yes I said it was last March, in 2011. I remember the yuku girls thinking he was just in that area hanging with Brit Marling and the director of The East but it was because he was living there. Obviously the Black Book interview had old information because they still had him renting a home in the Hills.
I see thumb troll is busy trolololol-ing.
@Macy: Per the interview, the house buying was recent, so I’m presuming this winter/spring, not 2011.
From the Telegraph interview in April (probably done in March) as part of Battleship promo he was living in the Hollywood Hills still.

Los Feliz is right next door, to the east.
@ladybug (#113)—Thanks for the link.
He may have purchased it last year and just not moved in until later, if he was doing renos or something which would make sense with him reading design books. Who knows though? There are so many stories with him living in the Hills, couch surfing etc. Even this recent interview said that he was tired of moving his stuff from friend to friend and living out of boxes so maybe he didn’t move into the place right away.
@Macy: Even with him mentioning living out boxes, the couch surfing stuff was in context of the break up last year when he wasn’t even in LA, so I’m not putting much stock in those. It’s also possible that he leased/rented like he does his cars, which means he rented a different home from year to year.
@ladybug:
Oh I know, but he himself said that he had his stuff stored in friend’s garages and whatnot. So maybe he did move in later. Like I said, who knows? I don’t know about him moving every year for rent, that would have come up wouldn’t you think? He’s not really gone long enough to totally move out anyway. Even when he goes to Sweden he’s only usually there for 2-3 weeks at a time. He never stays for the whole summer. The longest he was away was last summer when he basically lived in NYC. I could see him moving out then and moving into a new place, or storing his stuff at his friend’s houses.
@Macy: That’s why the boxes things confuses me, if he was staying at the same rental, which I’m honestly under the impression he was, since the HH home has been mentioned several times over the years, why mention the living out of boxes unless it was it was a regular occurrence: Bjorne! Lisa! I need your garage space again!
Anyway, now he’s a homeowner and now is responsible for that comes with it (or his manager is): fire insurance, flood insurance, earthquake insurance, calling the plumber at 2 in the morning when the pipes break, etc.
@ladybug:
LOL well at least he has the money to call professionals if all that stuff happens. I do wonder if he did some renos, what with the design book and all. It would be hilarious if his house was full of Ikea.
@Macy: If it’s full of IKEA I hope he had someone put it together for him!
@ladybug:
I actually have been busy building a set of cabinets from Ikea for my kitchen. It’s not so bad, you just have to go slow and pay attention.
@ladybug @mforman #100/102: :))))
@Macy: I love Ikea, too. But I wouldn’t say that it isn’t so bad – because there is always something missing, such as a screw, for example….(own, painful experience…)…LoL
@Cafélady: The only reality show I watch is Amazing Race, where teams race around the world performing tasks. 8 years ago one of the stops was Stockholm at the IKEA factory and the task was putting together a piece of furniture using all the parts, screws, etc. It took awhile for the teams to complete that one. It was amusing to watch the teams get so frustrated.
There are so many stories with him living in the Hills, couch surfing etc. Even this recent interview said that he was tired of moving his stuff from friend to friend and living out of boxes so maybe he didn’t move into the place right away.
