Mitt Romney's Republican National Convention Speech - Watch Now!

Mitt Romney accepts the nomination for President from the Republican Party at the 2012 Republican National Convention on Thursday (August 30) at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Florida.

The 65-year-old politician delivered his speech to a roaring crowd and made quite a few jabs at President Barack Obama.

“This president can tell us it was someone else’s fault. This president can tell us that the next four years he’ll get it right. But this president cannot tell us that you are better off today than when he took office,” Romney said. Watch the full speech below.

Mitt was joined on stage by his wife Ann Romney, his running mate Paul Ryan, his wife Janna, and a stage full of their children and grandchildren.

Couldn’t I do something more fun, like gouge out my eyes?

# 2

i do seriously love what he’s saying, esp the job creation part. keep asking myself ‘how? how will he create all the jobs he promises?’ keep searching his statements for a plan. keep coming up empty.

then i think about his championing of outsourcing US jobs. hmmm.

then i see that per the Bureau of Labor Statistics, during his tenure (Jan 03 – Jan 07), Mass. manufacturing jobs declined from 336,000 to 298,200.

…then i go ‘hmmm…’ and keep evaluating both sides.

not all that long to November now.

He’s amazing!! Mitt 2012 :)

# 4

Yes, Mitt!!!!

# 5

Mitt Phoney & Lyin’ Ryan – LMFAO!!

I’m not American… but my biggest issue with politics nowadays is that it seems like it has too much to do with religion. How can someone be expected to lead a country where everyone is supposed to have equal rights when they are biased towards one religion, race, sexual orientation, etc..? The USA is becoming a corporation instead of a country.

# 7

I have to laugh at Romney’s “Believe In America” slogan. He believes in American so much he keeps his money off-shore, in tax havens. That’s showing real belief in America!!!

# 8

I’m not American but I am terrified of this guy becoming president.

He’s a comedian.

He’s trying to buy the election, and I’m afraid it’s going to work. He’s preying on fear and blaming Obama for everything wrong in the country when the circumstances would be the same or worse under any other president. Obama didn’t cause the problems on wallstreet.
I’m not a fan of Romney! I hope he loses.

“This president can tell us it was someone else’s fault. This president can tell us that the next four years he’ll get it right. But this president cannot tell us that you are better off today than when he took office.” Really Romney? REALLY? You cannot tell that we are going to be better with you…

There is not guarantee that we are going to be better with you in the office…

Obama 2012. That’s all I have to say.

Mitt Romney is a real leader, but people in America seem to like the kool aid Obama serves if they want more of it. 6 Trillion added to deficits not enough? What a disappointment Obama has been. He’s golfed more than any other president. Maybe if people payed attention they would realize Obama is good at one thing, giving speeches. There is no there, there.

Regardless of who winds up in office…..whos to say any of us will ever be better off… Is my job gonna change? No…. will I still have lots of debt….yes…. will day to day living change? No…… everything is the same… Yes it would be nice to have lower gas prices and food prices.. I would say that… but good luck accomplishing things that we ALL have gone through our whole lives.. I saw my parent struggle when every single president has been in power for 40 years.. Now my family struggles… its not going to EVER be perfect.

Escherichia coli @ 08/31/2012 at 11:34 am

@Lisa: Your job could change? Yes, you can lose it. Will you have a lot of debt? Yes, and you might not be able to pay them. Will your day to day living change? If you lose you job it will definitely change. I’m glad to hear of the security you have in your job that you’re not worried about losing it.

Carbon Copy @ 08/31/2012 at 11:36 am

Mitt should be an inspiration to all of us who really care about our children’s future.

@K, Oh, but he can because he has real policies and Mitt Romney has done actual work. Read his resume, he’s got one, unlike Obama who has done nothing, but campaign. Obama has had 4 years and he’s made this country worse off, why would 4 more years be any different? If someone isn’t doing his job, he gets fired. Anyone with a job, knows that. Romney has contributed to this American society; he doesn’t just give speeches or read teleprompters. Mitt Romney knows how to turn things around!

Romney knows how to hide his money, hide his tax returns, and outsource jobs. I don’t want his Mormon religious beliefs pushed on me from the White House. Romney will try to turn all women into Stepford wives.

WereDoneEitherWay @ 08/31/2012 at 11:55 am

@Lily: First of all your Kool-Aid reference has been used like a millions times, and it’s extremely racist which makes your opinion sound like it’s coming from a caveman. I love people like you, you make Obama look amazing :)

Second, Bush was the President that “golfed” the most…. during hurricane Katrina in ’05… google it, red-neck. “The abrupt decision to return to Washington represented a turnabout of sorts for a president who for weeks ignored criticism that such a long summer break — the longest stretch away from Washington of any president in decades”
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/30/AR2005083000945.html

And Jared… C’mon man. Why are you publishing this? This is worse than than the Kardashian’s paying to be on Perez. For shame.

dear ignorant republicans claiming Obama’s done nothing, educate yourself:

@Escherichia coli:

I have a stable job yes… if I was to lose mine yes things would change. Ive already been down this road when my husband was out of work for over a year…so I know what im talking about.
What im saying is…my life will keep going forward regardless…

empty promises @ 08/31/2012 at 12:04 pm

neither of these idiots (RomBama) can get back our lost manufacturing jobs that have left over the last 25 years for much lower wages

Escherichia coli @ 08/31/2012 at 12:10 pm

@Lisa: Good to hear that. I for one lost my job 4 years ago and although I’m an engineer I haven’t been able to find one. Fortunately like you, I’ve had someone to fall back on. I do worry that my husband could lose his as well since things do not look good in the engineering/ construction field, but I guess that a natural worry. I’m back in school getting my DrPH and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And yes life goes on but many are not as lucky as we are.

Obama has further destroyed our constitution after Bush and not even GWB prosecuted and shut up whistle blowers like the Obama admin. has done.
Every one of our presidents has a predetermined course. Their policy is directed by a big business oligarchy who has the real power. This is nothing but politiical theater for the masses. Divide and conquer. It is up to you to recognize this as an individual.

Here’s what I know about Mitt Romney:

He grew up in a religious cult.
His family was wealthy and powerful.
Apparently he was a bully in high school.
He once went on some missionary trip to France.
He went to Harvard.
He got married at age 22.
He has five sons.
He once put the family dog on the roof of a car during a road trip.
And he’s worth over 200 million dollars.

Doesn’t sound like your average Joe American to me. Sounds more like he grew up in a privileged bubble. I don’t think he’s ever worked two jobs for 9 bucks an hour. If he gets elected, I wonder whose interests he’s going to serve when he makes decisions?

Obama 2012. He’ll be able to accomplish more in his second term than he’s done so far…if we just give him the chance.

This guy never had to pay off a student loan. Obama had student loans and he had to make payments. Obama took out student loans because he didn’t have the monetary privileges like Romney. Even though president Obama was offered jobs that would pay him the big bucks after he graduated Harvard, he chose to work for much less for those in his community at disadvantage. Romney spent his semester abroad in what he considered a 3rd world, France, to spread the word of Mormon? Not sure that Mitt can relate to your average person. He sure can relate to his fellow Americans who have large accounts in the Caymans and Bahamas.

Obama 2012. He’ll be able to accomplish more in his second term, if he gets the chance.

it’s kind of funny to listen to these people speak, watch the speech again, Romney’s mouth is moving but look at his eyes, he is trying to force his eyes to match what is coming out of his mouth, but it just didn’t work very well …. he is a really terrible actor ! !

Obama in November. There is no other choice IMO.

@Buzzy: yeah…right….sure…

America do this right. If this guy becomes your president I’ve lost all faith in you. Obama 2012!

Just read matt tabibi’s article on him in rolling stone

I’m not american but i believe that he can make a diference, he is honest and that is something i believe in him

@emm:
And which Country are you from???……U.S.A. is a unique country and so many criticize our country….because of our military, successes, etc..not by any means being narcissistic, but we are a country who believe WE CAN DO IT! You cannot understand who we are, because you are not American. I don’t care what the other countries do to their own people or what you believe in, and I don’t tell them what they believe in is wrong…..so, it is best this is reciprocated by others who are not American.

@Bruce Lee:
oh yeah…and how dare you use such an admirable person’s name to smear your dirt. Bruce Lee came to this country as an immigrant to better himself….what a disgrace.

@LFR:
What about Reid….and other Democratic politicians who also have accounts held outside of our country. Or, Obama’s 1% friends who do business in Finland…etc. c’mon….quit the class warfare…….you are an embarassment. Even a minority as myself knows better…get off the horse.

@Adri:
Then you don’t have to worry…you are not an American.

@K.:
And there is definitely no guarantee it is going to get better if we keep the current administration in office…..so, it won’t hurt to try someone else…since we are already in a BIGGER hole they put us in.

I am for Romney but I respect Obama and the people who support him. Why can’t people do that? What happened to respecting other people’s stances? It really gets on my nerves when people say “respect the people who believe in liberal ideas” but then they can’t respect the people who believe in conservative ideas…

@Peapo:
There is ALWAYS a choice…don’t ever get that wrong. He’s a nice guy, but not great at leading our country.

He works for US….not the other way around.

Absolutely read the Matt Taibi article (Rolling Stone)!

@Mitchell:
Dear Delusional Democrats……America has never been more divided….seen more hate….hear so much racial rhetoric…since this administration came into office. Blacks hate on successful blacks….torment them for being Uncle Tom…what does that say about those media/politicians in your party?!! Now..Mitchell….if you don’t care about the debt our children are inheriting, the jobless, the handouts, the foodstamps..it explains your ignorant comments about those who care.

Supports shipping coal and oil to foreign countries but wind mill farms? Oh heck no! Clean, free energy? Romney doesn’t like it when he and his buddies don’t make maximum bucks exporting and hiding their tax dollars offshore. Energy Independence in the U.S.? Not with Romney mucking up the country.

Most people can tell the measure of a man by how they treat their pets. Most people would have their dog ride IN the car vs. ON the top of the car. just sayin’.

OBAMA 2012

Let’s see all of Romney’s Tax Returns!

Just Sayin @ 09/01/2012 at 5:43 pm

@ahem: I’m still waiting for a birth certificate!

All of you haters really need to get a life! This man is very smart we will help our country, Unlike obama. Look past the 4 years tell me what good things has happend? Until you can prove to me that everyone has a job or can find a job then we can talk. Don’t go around trashing someone who can actully help your lives. You are just voting for Obama because you believe all of his lies or you’re all just lazy and want the hader working people to pay for your lazy asses. Go see the movie 2016, and shut the H e l l up! All of you haters really need to get a life. I can trash talk obama in so many ways, I can tell you all the things he promised us all back in 08 and nothing he said ever happend. Do your re-search and stop acting like stupid 6 year olds. You guys are just full of it! MITT ROMNEY 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love how people diss George Bush for in 8 years have the national debt go up by over 5 trillion but Obama did the same exact thing in 3 and a half years! So please tell me how Obama is a better president and should be elected again..?

How can someone be expected to lead a country where everyone is supposed to have equal rights when they are biased towards one religion, race, sexual orientation?
