'The Possession' Tops Weekend Box Office

The super scary Kyra Sedgwick and Jeffrey Dean Morgan flick The Possession has spooked its way to the top slot at this weekend’s box office, according to Variety.

The movie brought in $17.7 million dollars over the weekend, with more expected on Labor Day!

Shia LaBeouf, Jessica Chastain and Tom Hardy‘s Lawless came in at number two with $9.7 million.

The Expendables 2 dropped to the number three spot from number one, bringing in $8.8 million, for a total of over $66 million.

The Bourne Legacy and ParaNorman round out the top five with $7.2 million and $6.6 million, respectively.

Two major box office milestones also occurred this weekend: The Avengers has officially grossed over $1.5 billion and The Dark Knight Rises has just crossed the $1 billion mark!
