Taylor Swift Covers 'Marie Claire UK' November 2012

Taylor Swift graces the cover of British Marie Claire‘s November 2012 issue, on newsstands October 4.

Here is what the 22-year-old singer had to share with the mag:

On if she warns boyfriends that they might end up in song: “Ha! Well… it’s not like it’s in fine print, but music is absolutely everything that I am and everything that I stand for. It’s not my fault if someone gets into a relationship with me and then cheats and I write a song about it.”

On her high-profile relationships being a potential problem: “I agree with everything you’re saying. I think I have to trust that you end up with the person you’re supposed to end up with, and that everything in between is there to teach you stuff. Plus it makes for great stories when you’re older.”

On having kids one day: “[My] money will be really good for sending my kids to college some day – or maybe I’ll have a few more kids than I thought. I want a bunch of them running around, minimum four. I want to wait a while, but… the idea of pouring everything you are into another person when you become a parent has always been amazing to me.”

For more from Taylor, visit and pick up the issue this Thursday for the full interview!

    she looks good here
this is so much her age and not the vintage thing

  • Mary H.

Oh, please, Taylor, like every single one of your boyfriends have cheated on you. I find that hard to believe.

  • Koree

“It’s not my fault if someone gets into a relationship with me and then cheats and I write a song about it”…..True, but does she have a write a song all the time. I wish someone would do the same to her and see how she likes it. Not to mention, this could make a lot of guys not want to date her. Ugh, she annoys me and that statement just shows why.

  • WhatATool

  • DB

Freaky, immature, whiny, stalker who will try to RUIN, very childishly, any man who dares to date her and have it not work out.

Run – run far, far, far away from this person.

  • Karen

    she looks stunning

  • Yohji

“It’s not my fault if someone gets into a relationship with me and then cheats and I write a song about it.”

Wow, this quote makes her sound so immature.

  • anon

“It’s not my fault if someone gets into a relationship with me and then cheats and I write a song about it.” Uh.. YOU decided to write the song so yes it would be your fault. And considering she’s written a song about every single relationship she’s been in I think that it’s about time that she did include it in the fine print. At least until all these guys smarten up and run as far away as they can from her.

  • Creed

If none of your boyfriends want to be with you then obviously there is something wrong with YOU. I mean seriously, idk 1 boyfriend she has had that has lasted for more than a few months. Even then It didn’t look serious, she seems like a stalker creep.

  • Creed

The only guy she can get nowadays is a HIGH SCHOOLER one whose FAMILY SHE HAS BEEN OPENLY STALKING FOR YEARS.

  • Alaia

I bet she forces men to cheat on her. Like, she hires prostitutes. Just to complete an album. Either that or she’s an insufferable hag and it comes to her.

  • dooliloo

Ok well not being the devil’s advocate here, I frankly can’t stand her figure BUT how is she different from other singers writing and singing about their past relationships bitter break ups etc.? Could someone enlighten me here??

  • Not a Swifty

@dooliloo: Well for one the majority of those artists aren’t in very publicized relationships. They keep their private lives private. Where as almost every single relationship Taylor has been in has been VERY much publicized. Two, they keep their lyrics vague so it’s not completely obvious who they’re about. Taylor says she never reveals who her songs are about (although she did confirm her Joe Jonas song) but it doesn’t really take a genius to figure it out. Three, they’re lyrics are mature. Taylor simply whines about how every guy has screwed her over. Four, (this kinda ties in with reason number two) other artists have the decency to give their exes the respect and privacy they and their previous relationship deserves no matter how ugly the breakup may have been. Taylor, on the other hand, purposefully puts every single one of her exes on blast. Five, other artists are actually talented! Taylor’s nothing without her army of tweens.

  • Effy

Hey Taylor, I’m 22 like you and I have been cheated on TWICE. sure, it sucks but guess what, I grew up and moved on like a mature person should do. No wonder her boyfriend is still in high school…

  • sarah

Thank you! Call her out all you want on her immature behavior, but complaining about her writing songs about her love life? Ummm, that’s what all songwriters/artists do. Adele, Alicia Keys, Pink- should they stop writing songs too?

  • GoddessToys

She seems immature or at least has a huge Ego. She wouldn’t want an ex-Boyfriend to talk about how awful T-Swift is. Her boyfriends cheat on her because she is obnoxious and annoying. She needs some top-rated Female Toys at GoddessToys to keep her man satisfied like 50 Shades.

  • cousin

Big mistake. Only women buy that magazine & a LOT of women hate Taylor Swift. There are plenty of reasons why she’s unpopular with so many women. She’s the biggest horr in the entertainment industry. She’s constantly in your face. She’s always getting in everyone’s business or underpants. She cannot sing. Her voice is always so off-key and out of tune. She still writes teenage breakup songs at the age of 22. She always blames her breakups on her BFs. She hasn’t figured out yet that SHE is the problem, not them. You never see her wearing anything revealing because there’s nothing to see. She’s just as flat-chested & freakishly tall as the teenage boy she’s dating. Sometimes she wears a padded bra to compensate for her lack of assets. She only got signed to a music label because a middle-aged male executive thought she was cute 5 years ago. Without autotune & a good producer standing behind her, she is nothing. I have a friend who stopped buying Cover Girl cosmetics because Taylor was endorsing them & she hates Taylor with a passion. Taylor is more over-exposed that Lady Gaga was last year. If you have to use a celebrity to endorse your products or to be on your magazine cover, do not use Taylor Swift. Choose someone that EVERYONE likes, like Adele or Jennifer Aniston.

    @ Not A Swifty
Thank you very much for the explanation. Although can I say Eminem wasn’t subtle on Mariah Carey nor was Justin Timberlake on Britney, nor Nas on Kelis. I guess it’s all about their personal choices then? But then again I totally understand your point, makes it clear now. Cheers.

  • ace11

I want 4 of them running around (kids)

Try 1 first..and see how that works out

  • sarah

    @Not a Swifty:
It’s obvious not a lot of people like Taylor. But I can tell from your post that you read the articles about her. So why even read it? To be honest, I find Rihanna’s situation of defending her ex-bf who busted her face to be more disturbing, yet people seem to be ok with it and just care about her hair or something. It irritates me to no end, so I stay away from Rihanna posts. You don’t have to read the posts about her, you can change the station if one of her songs come on. You’re not being forced to read about her or listen to her. So just ignore and you’ll stay sane :)

  • joy

oh well I think she is awesome and looks lovely. She writes songs about her personal experiences and of those around her like every other songwriter yet she is the only one that gets ridiculed. She is only 22 people, I think you just need to back off a bit

  • DemiTasse

First, Taylor’s unavoidable. If I go to the store they’re piping in her songs. She stares at you from magazines, and starts promoting her “songs” months before the album drops. She’s on every internet gossip site I read. Un-Avoid-Able.

You can try to ignore her, but some of her garbage seeps into your consciousness whether you like it or not. Since I’m not a fan, I sometimes like to say so. I think her marketing people made her a very successful bran, but she is not universally loved. There’s a lot of rational, smart girls whothink she’s an untalented pain in the b*tt. Please don’t remind me about all her awards. She’s a moneymaker. That is why she gets awards. The industry loves good earners.

When she writes songs trashing the guys she “dates”, well that’s about respect and trust and maturity. No matter what happened between them, and I can’t imagine it was much of anything, she doesn’t have the maturity she should have. She can’t have it both ways. Either she’s a good person like she tries to convince us, or she gets down in the mud and sings it. Except for John Mayer, no one who ever dated her wants to talk about her. They want to forget.

  • amanda

ughh just shut up….you’re 22 live a little before you start talking about kids….she’s such a self-righteous little sh!t….i bet she thinks that she did nothing wrong in any of those relationships….i guarantee she’s a stage 5 clinger

  • pickles

I think she’s been raised to think she is just wonderful. Miss perfect. Miss I’l the best. I had to laugh when she said how she keeps her ego in check. Ha, ha! Of course she is immature. She has been living in a bubble since she was 12-13. She was home schooled because she claims she was bullied in school. I think her mother has raised this shallow thin skinned person.I’m not a fan. There’s a couple songs of her that I like, but I am over her. She’s at the point where no one cares who she dates or breaks up with.

  • sarah

I actually agree with the majority of what you say. I am a fan of her, but she’s far from perfect. Not everyone likes her songs, but she is a good songwriter. Unfortunately, her lyrics still need to mature and she is technically limited as a singer. But from hearing her songs, you can tell her song structures are solid, catchy and on point. Again, her lyrics just need to mature. Remember when Paul McCartney’s song “Yesterday” was first called “Scrambled Eggs”? The song’s foundation was good, he just needed better lyrics to make it a poignant song. I think her songs are good, her lyrics just hold her back cuz she ends up sounding immature.

Now if people just can’t stand her on a personal level, that’s something else. I feel the way you feel about half of the singers/actresses that are the most popular, and they’re everywhere on mag stands, the radio, gossip sites, etc, also. I just find it shocking how much hate this girl is getting. It’s like a mob mentality with the majority deciding either to worship you and act like you’re a “god/goddess”, or come together to hate everything there is about you.

  • amanda

@sarah….actually sir paul used scrambled eggs as a timing mechanism because it was easier to remember how to sing the song with two words rather than the one….he couldn’t remember how the word yesterday was supposed to be sung in context so he used scrambled eggs to aid him

  • amanda

oh and how dare you compare the song writing abilities of paul mccartney to taylor swift….for shame

  • sarah

So the lyrics to Yesterday was his first draft, and not Scrambled Eggs? Not saying you’re wrong, but it wasn’t just the Scrambled Eggs line, all the lines were different from Yesterday. My dad’s a super Beatles fan and the Beatles specials/interviews he watches keep saying the original was Scrambled Eggs.

  • sarah

Oh come on. The Beatles were great and I love Paul McCartney, but after they broke up, Paul McCartney’s songwriting couldn’t touch the songs he wrote while he was with the Beatles. John Lennon at least had the song Imagine post-Beatles to prove his songwriting.

  • Tatiana

I’m compeletly agree with you, and i think people have recently learnt how to use the word IMMATURE and now they’re just practicing, cause she’s everything but immature, she LIKES and is FREEEE to write songs about anything she wants. Got that everybody???? And i think what really bothers you is beside your haters’ not-ever-ending rude comments, she’s still the best coutry singer in the whole wide world!

  • kk

@cousin: you are very immature…where you there when she was sleeping with all this men you were talking..troll get a life and go buy Adele productss

  • nm

    if it’s not your fault they’re cheating on you,then who’s is it?what a tool..

  • anne

Apparently, the only important thing in life is to be cool? Taylor Swift will never be cool, she’ll always be a dork, so get over it people. Life is like one big high school, everyone’s judging everyone to evaluate if they’re “cool” enough, which is just ridiculous.
