Pink Covers 'The Advocate' November 2012

Pink shows off a sexy corset on the cover of The Advocate‘s November 2012 issue, on newsstands now.

Here is what the 33-year-old singer had to share with the mag:

On her family being working class citizens: “I just know that half of my family is pissed off, and we’re all working-class people. My mom is a nurse, and my dad was an insurance salesman, and my brother works for pennies for the military, and some of my family is unemployed. People are like, ‘You live in a f–king bubble, you live in Hollywood.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’ve got money now.”

On her LGBT fans: “They’ve been the most loyal part of what I do. They’ve been my most loyal friends, to be honest. I’ve had a lot of my gay boys around, but my gay girls are my rootstalk. They’re my honesty in an ocean of bullshit. I should be gay by the way that I look and the way that I am. I just happen to not be. But it just makes perfect and complete sense.”

On being connected to women: “I loved my little girlfriends and we kissed and we had a great time and we held hands. When I first moved to Los Angeles, I was an honorary lesbian of Los Angeles. I wasn’t gay, but all my girlfriends were. So no, it wasn’t a big deal for me, but when [a tabloid] comes out and says, I just said I was bisexual, it’s like what? That wasn’t my truth, and I like truth. I like absolute truth.”

she’s only 33 years old? wow! didn’t know she was so young! looks great but do not know why I assumed she was much older.

i love pink and i understand that it can be difficult to have one half of your family broke and unemployed while you’re a millionaire but i thought the comment about her family was.. strange? i mean, it seemed a little too personal.. (or did i read it wrong?)

I respect this woman ! she does NOT live in a bubble ! Yes she has money now,but that doesnt mean her mom will be feeling fine by sitting at home doing nothing.. she is used to go to work and do smtg with her days…if she gets financial support from her daughter fine, but choice of life is hers not her daughter’s fame team… If she is lesbian bisexual or any-sexual who cares..?! She makes great music…she looks fantastic…she is honest about her life and we love her !

@Me: and who exactly is dismissing that?

I love and respect Pink very much and I truely admire her. I also really love that she’s channeling her inner Lady Gaga with the clothing :)

@Me: lollz i didnt finish what i wanted to write & had hit enter already. ha sorry dude!

I think that comment about her family was maybe from a discussion about our current economy? Nowadays magazines just pick random crap to put in, when the cover person did an interview that was way longer. So it was probably taken out of a bigger discussion. Anyway, I think it’s about the fact that just everyone assumes because we see things about how many millions P!nk made on her last tour or whatever (and that goes for any celebrity), and we assume they’ve checked out of reality. Yes, many celebrities let it go to their heads, but obviously P!nk hasn’t. She’s kind of like the Eminem of pop music: while of course she doesn’t still have the same struggles and hardships as she did when she started, she isn’t singing about having money and being famous. She still sings about personal struggles that everyone can relate to. That’s why I love p!nk.

As an 18 year old gay guy, I gotta say I’m tired of every female pop singer saying how much they support gays and how many gay fans they have. Why if we’re so accepting, do we not have an openly gay male pop singer that’s as big as Beyonce or Lady GaGa? With that being said, in my humble opinion, I think P!nk may be the only genuine one when she talks about gay rights. She actually kinda made me tear up a bit when she did an interview recently saying how we shouldn’t be fighting for “gay marriage” but “marriage equality.” like how when a black person and white person marry, they don’t have an “interracial wedding” they just have a wedding. Period. Not saying others are faking it or anything, it’s just that P!nk is so authentic. I love her (:

The top of her hair makes me wanna eat an ice cream

@taylorbay: hm yeah the way you put it makes more sense. i think the comment came off a little arrogant, especially with the way Americans seem to be struggling, but i understand it a little better now.
thanks

I love this woman. Not only is she a great singer, but she seems to be a really great person who doesn’t let others define her. She knows she is one of the priviledged who made it in the business, but this girl works really hard for everything she got, so she deserves it!

Seriously? @ 10/09/2012 at 1:39 am

@Someone:

Pink channeling her inner Gaga? Are you like 12 years old? Pink was around long before Lady Gaga and sure as hell isn’t trying to copy her. If anything Gaga has used Pink and a million other artists for inspiration, lord knows she’s never had an original idea in her entire life.
