Alexander Skarsgard: RomaFictionFest Closing Ceremony!

Alexander Skarsgard suits up for the 2012 RomaFictionFest closing ceremony held at Auditorium Parco Della Musica on Friday (October 5) in Rome, Italy.

Earlier in the week, the 36-year-old actor attended the fifth season premiere of True Blood at RomaFictionFest with his co-star Kristin Bauer.

Alexander recently spoke to The Wall Street Journal about the difference between shooting True Blood and making a short film for Calvin Klein.

“This [Calvin Klein short film] was different on one level because there’s no dialogue. That was a cool challenge of telling a story with no words. But that’s what I love about this job. One day you are covered in blood shooting True Blood and the next day you are doing this. I just wrapped this film in Vancouver called Hidden about a family in a bomb shelter. So from this to like dirty bomb shelter with rats and smoke and soot and fire, that’s what so great about this job,” Alexander shared.

    @aussiefan: I figured once he said when and where it was only a matter of time. Then he mentioned the type of house and made it that much easier.

    It’s a ‘private’ thing, and obviously he tried to make it so by not buying it under his name, but even pre-Internet someone would have found out. It’s all a matter of public record somehow, it just takes someone knowing what to look for.

    @Your just a show off : Still haven’t learned to be grammatically correct with your own screen name, eh?
    And 1.85 million in that area is actually pretty cheap. Good thing for him he wasn’t trying to buy 5-6 years ago, at the peak of the housing bubble, would probably been much, much more.

    And if you’re all atwitter over what you think is Alex’s conspicuous consumption, I’m presuming you’re also going over to the any Kardashian threads and yelling at them for theirs?

  • Macy

    @Your just a show off:
    I agree with ladybug, you’re going to post this nonsense on every celeb thread then, right? Because those are just the realtor photos of the house, not him actually inviting people inside for People mag, as some other celebs have done. Even Reese Witherspoon invited a magazine to her home to have it photographed.
    Besides, sales of homes are a matter of public record as stated. You can go to your mayor’s office or the land titles offices and find that sh*t out. Good lord!

  • Disney Villainess

    @Your just a show off: Oh, just shut that sh*t up. I knew your types were going to start creeping in here with that type of so-called self-righteous BS as soon as this story got published.

    “ALEX your no different flashy cars and women top designer clobber and big posh.. pads”

    That right there just sounds like words from a bitter ass b*tch with no cause, TBH.

  • fyathyrio

    @Macy: Well said.

  • ladybug

    @Macy: I could have sworn in one of his interviews from last year he mentioned that one thing we wouldn’t be seeing is a a photo shoot of he laying poolside at his house. Can’t find it now. No photo spreads for him in Architectural Digest.

  • aussiefan

    @ladybug:
    Scary, cause its in the public domain all that info .. Not all those in the industry share such info with journalists *shrugs* I didn’t know that real estate site existed ..and had to wince at the disclaimer ..don’t go knocking on their door ..for F’s sake I live in Australia and it took about 5 mins to connect the dots..jeez. Oh we’ll *shrugs*

  • Macy

    @ladybug:
    Well, I guess they can’t stop someone from posting the photos from when it was on sale. Most likely it doesn’t look that way anymore, but it doesn’t do much good since people can suss out which house it is if they really want to. I’m sure it’s in a community with gates and security but nutcases can get in if they want to.

    @fyathyrio:
    Well it’s true. Tons of celebs have openly invited publications and even tv shows to their homes. That isn’t what happened her at all, but apparently that fact escapes some people.

  • aussiefan

    @Macy:

    Why would you think that it’s a gated community ?

  • ladybug

    @Macy: Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if the exterior looks pretty much the same. But I’m sure there’s lots of security. And fans had figured out where he lived before as well, and would have here as well, even without the site.

    @aussie, almost all in the public domain. Thanks to sites like Zillow, I can now see how much my future nephew-in-law paid for the house he and my niece live in and how much the previous sale had been.

  • Canuck

    @ladybug: hehe, no pool ;)

  • Cafélady

    @ladybug: #242 “Well, I don’t know about any future TB promos in German but didn’t he speak a little bit of German during TB S3, during the WWII flashback?”

    Yes, he did. And very well! :) Can’t get enough of it! LoL
    His german lessons in school were obviously a good investment!

    @Macy: #243 Thanks. :))

    As for this house: Nice hut. LoL …If it is really his house. And I would say, he obviously has a big family and lots of friends…so I guess, he needs the space, if he wants to invite them in…:))

    On the other hand, I also have mixed feelings about this posted infos. It feels strange and stalkerish when people do that and spread this on the net – and he obviously hasn’t himself given this info.

    The pics were definitely made for an real estate magazine or something (before the sold). I doubt, that he would like it, to do a real “homestory” or something to show his house and so on. Yes, his father did years ago something similar one time for the swedish tv, but one couldn’t see the entire appartement then, nor where it was exactly in Söder.

    Well, like I said IF it is actually his house, then it is surely a good and clever investment.

  • Macy

    @aussiefan:
    Most of the communities in those areas are gated and pretty exclusive, that’s why actors and musicians like them.

    @ladybug:
    Oh I’m sure he’s mostly just changed the inside. Perhaps he’s added bedrooms since he has so many family members. The house only has 3 rooms for over 2400 sq feet, so there’s lots of room to have more bedrooms for all his siblings, etc.

  • Macy

    @Cafélady:
    I’m assuming those are the photos from when it was for sale, and the bloggers got ahold of them and just researched the land titles or something. It sucks, but like I said, anyone can get that info which is why he probably used another name to purchase it. He probably wanted to avoid that sort of thing.

  • mforman

    I also wonder if that is actually his home, I hope not for his sake. It just seems to me he is the type that would like more space because of the number of friends and family he has, this home has no backyard, just a deck. If it is I bet it is in a gated community, I think he would like that extra security, especially since after TB finishes he is usually gone for so long, filming or going home.
    I think the internet has gotten quite scary with certain things, it is ridiculous what you can go on and find out nowadays.

  • aussiefan

    @Macy:

    If Alexander wanted to avoid all this then he should never have said where and when he bought the house..should of just said , “yeah, bought a house in L.A ” full stop, no description.

    Maybe I am hoping that this is not the house … But when I was having a browse found the house next door was for sale too so maybe it’s BS .

  • ladybug

    @Macy: “I’m assuming those are the photos from when it was for sale, and the bloggers got ahold of them and just researched the land titles..”
    That’s my presumption as well, these were part of the ‘for sale’ pics. They’re fairly ‘pedestrian’ pics, nothing fancy.
    A comment on the post mentions that Zillow had it listed in 2010 with a for sale price of 2.8 million. So someone familiar with LF has already figured out where it is.

    @ladybug:
    As I said I am in Australia..and figured it out in 5 mins..duh !

  • ladybug

    @mforman: The lack of yard surprises me, but then it’s one less thing to take care of, especially since he’s still gone several months out of the year.

    @aussiefan, that’s rather my take, in the end, he didn’t have to talk about the house. Not that I’m blaming him, I was a little surprised he kept mentioning it. Even though he bought under a trust name, not his name, maybe he either thought people wouldn’t find out, or that they would anyway and might as well mention it.

  • aussiefan

    And no I am not trying to encourage crazies to look it up but that’s what scared me ..if I can with no knowledge then … Oh, we’ll its out their online for the general public ..on a brighter note I hope “what Maisie knew ” is released here ..pfffft
    There’s a film festival closing night is Anna Karenina ..I was hoping it might have been Maisie :(

  • Macy

    @ladybug:
    Well then he got a good deal if he got it for a million less. It also says there was a design to have an extension built onto it with pool, etc.

  • Disney Villainess

    @ladybug: Yeah, Skars was a supreme dumbass for constantly putting that out there, but when I think about it, I actually now believe it when he says he doesn’t google or read blogs about himself. No way his ass would mention anything of or around that damn house if he knew of all the twisted-f*ck STANS that could google the sh*t up, find out the right information and then “Walk & Stalk” his ass. I just choose to believe this man ain’t that naive, LOL.

  • Canuck

    Chances are it was the real estate people who blabbed. Apparently the house was bought by some rather generic named trust.

  • aussiefan

    @Disney Villainess:
    Ah, hope that wasn’t a reference to moi ;)

    I would have thought Alexander would know by now ..hasn’t learnt much in HW then..is that being naive ? Or just rather not think about it ? Dunno..

    Does anyone know when “Maisie ” is being released in US ?

  • ladybug

    @Macy: lap pool, so there went his yard!

    @DV, I don’t think he does look at that stuff online, he probably did at the beginning, and decided it was healthier not to. I’m sure his management/pr and even friends will tell him of the weirder stuff. So I’m sure he knows now that people have figured out which house he bought. And I don’t think he’s that naive to know that wouldn’t happen eventually.

    @Canuck, I suspect whoever runs the Real Estalker site is either in RE, or has been, or has contacts in the high end RE world. I think she did her homework, narrowed her choices and asked around and got confirmation.

    @aussiegirl, the only AS movie with a US release date is Disconnect and that’s not until April.

  • mforman

    I know I am the one that will sound naive now, but I am really, really hoping that is not his house.
    I remember when he said he had looked at three houses that one day and then picked one, I am hoping for his sake, this Real Estate Stalker, knew the three houses and picked this one as his because it was purchased under a trust. Maybe one of the other three he looked at is his.
    The one thing that keeps bothering me about this house is the fact only 2 or 3 bedrooms, no backyard, and 2 bathrooms, it really just seemed kind of small for someone that has not only a large family but also a large amount of friends, especially the one thing we know for a fact is that he likes to have his friends and family around him.
    Not that I have any idea of what he would want in a house, but I see him having a backyard where everybody hangs out, a game room, where he would have a ping pong table set up and a couple of extra rooms for his family and friends to stay with him. This house doesn’t even have room for an office for him or a place to keep the many books he enjoys reading.
    Maybe it is just wishful thinking that AS can have the privacy he so deserves and desires.

  • ladybug

    @mforman: We don’t know whether the other two that he looked at even sold, and that’s what I’m presuming helped limit her choices-Los Feliz, sold in March and modernist.
    And it’s not a small house, not really. over 2000 sq feet, so there is room, he may have tweaked some stuff to get what he wanted.
    Could she be wrong, of course. But maybe it is his and he just really, really liked the house even though it may not have had everything he wanted.

  • mforman

    @ladybug—-I said that I sounded naive thinking it wasn’t his. I also said for his sake I hope it wasn’t because this poor man deserves to at least have his privacy in his home. That was why I was glad this house was in a gated communtiy at the end of a cul de sac, that makes it alot harder for paps and stalkers.
    There is alot we do not know about this real estate stalkers information and we will never know if it truly is his, unless the paps catch him coming out or somebody else spots him. So it is all really a guessing game.
    It truly does amaze me though all the crap you can get on the internet now, it is quite scary.
    I didn’t say it was a small house, I said for the size of his friends and family who he loves having around him it seemed small. We know he had work done on whatever he purchased, since he was spotted with design magazines. I am sure whatever he purchased he has made into his own.
    In a way I like that we do not know definitely if it is his or not, somethings should be private.

  • ladybug

    @mforman: “I said for the size of his friends and family who he loves having around him it seemed small”. Well, not really, even then. It’s not as if they’ll be hanging out at his house at the same time. And if it gets crowded for a few hours if he has a big get together, he’s probably fine with that.

    Same thing with the bedrooms, I’m presuming his family/friends from outside LA aren’t going to visit en masse and he’ll have enough room, if they want to stay with him.

  • Disney Villainess

    @aussiefan: “Ah, hope that wasn’t a reference to moi ;)”
    LOL, nah, you can usually tell the crazed m*****f*****s right off the bat. And Skars been living in Los Angeles(?) for what, 6 or 7 years now? I feel like he should be highly skilled in the game of”streets smarts” for these types of things but being the big bull-headed person that he is………..

    @ladybug: #274, Well, I have to remind myself that Skars is ~stubborn~, something he also keeps proclaiming to the world as well…..he probably just doesn’t care about letting the house situation be known, figuring he’s got everything under control.

    About the house: I personally think the house reflects him: Big but at the same time, low key. It’s perfect for him and a couple of family and friends or whatever when he feels like having company.

  • ladybug

    @Disney Villainess: “Well, I have to remind myself that Skars is ~stubborn~, something he also keeps proclaiming to the world as well…..he probably just doesn’t care about letting the house situation be known, figuring he’s got everything under control.”

    Yep. He’s said he doesn’t want stuff like that-paps, possible stalkers-to interfere with his life. So he’ll take steps to minimize that, but he knows it’s not possible to avoid it completely.

  • lostintranslation

    http://www.aftonbladet.se/nojesbladet/klick/article15677667.ab;jsessionid=73C87FF67F2D219EFA2989F43EB4E543

    am I translating this right but are they saying the selling price was 14 million? not 1 million as reported here.

  • mforman

    @lostintranslation—-No, I also got the price of 14 million in translation. It seems they got their facts wrong and I guess they never checked on anything because that is a huge difference.
    Thank you for the link.

  • bumblebee

    @lostintranslation and mforman

    I dont know Swedish so cant vouch for what they are saying, but could they be quoting it in swedish Krona ? I know they have gone all Euro, but i have a friend raised in Germany who still mentally converts everything to Deutsche Mark! 1 USD is equivalent to around 7 SWK, so that would make sense since the price quoted is arnd 2 million.

    Even with inflated LA pricing, 14 million USD seems too much to pay for the place profiled.

  • ladybug

    @bumblebee: Sweden’s still on the Krona, and it still wouldn’t be 14 million, it’d be around 12.4 SEK.

    1,850,000.00 USD = 12,410,077.50 SEK
    US Dollar ↔ Swedish Krona
    1 USD = 6.70815 SEK 1 SEK = 0.149072 USD

    And LA prices aren’t that bad as they were, you’d only get 14 million US if you plopped the house on a couple of acres or more. Maybe.

  • fyathyrio

    My translation says 13 million for Alex’s house and that Filipe Hamar (another Swede) bought a house in the same neighborhood for 14 million. And they are quoting krona I believe.

  • Tulip

    @Macy: Most of the Los Feliz neighborhoods aren’t gated. One is and I don’t think the house they’re showing is in that area. This one looks like it’s in the hills. If the information is correct, I’m surprised someone learned it’s Alex’s house. His name shouldn’t appear anywhere. It shouldn’t be and I don’t think is on the title. Most celebrities use pseudonyms for anything that has to be mailed to them and utilities aren’t under their names. Paps are known to look in mailboxes to determine where celebs live. Therefore, his name shouldn’t appear on anything associated with the house. His manager would know that and make sure everything is set up properly. It looks like a house that would sell for just under 2 million in LA.

  • Macy

    @Tulip:
    I’m going off what the real estate site stated, which was that it was part of a private area in Los Feliz. Could that house belong somewhere else, I suppose it’s possible but why would they post a house in the Hills and then state it was in Los Feliz? And it did sell for under $2 million, that’s what was stated in the blog. It also stated that he did buy it under a fake name, so someone must have leaked the information from the real estate office, or the titles office perhaps.

  • Tulip

    The north side of Los Feliz is in the hills and the south side is pretty much flat. There’s a gated area on the south side. Maybe there’s a private street on the north side but not gated. I hope Alex didn’t get mail addressed to him by name. That’s all it takes for word to spread. I guess it’s too late now.

  • Macy

    @Tulip:
    It’s probably on the north side then I would think. Here’s what the blog says about it, it’s on a hills, yet in Los Feliz. Maybe bordering it and the Hills?

    ” a private promontory at the tail end of a quiet cul-de-sac in the the celeb-studded hills above L.A.’s upscale, boho-hipster Los Feliz neighborhood.”

  • Tulip

    Isn’t a promontory land like a peninsula that juts out into a large body of water? (I had to look up the definition) There isn’t any large body of water or a peninsula in Los Feliz. It’s good the house is at the end of a cul-de-sac. No through traffic. I’m sure it’s the north side which is really beautiful. A lot of gorgeous homes from the 20′s and 30′s. There’s an amazing Frank Lloyd Wright designed house in Los Feliz.

  • Strange

    The house to me is amazing!!!

  • luv Kate bosworth

    Yeah i see the dirty dude has Prob brought the house in a quite street for all fake blonde under 25 emainicipated LA////models wannabes he wants to shag dirtybag.

    @aussiefan: You see that?^^^#292′s one of those type m*****f*****s. This fool posted all that sh*t but probably got the coordinates to Skars’ crib right now, LOL.;-)

  • ladybug

    @Tulip: Or overlooking a lower-lying body of land, which is what I’m presuming what’s meant here.
    FLW? Hmm, I wonder if that’s what Dad was looking for when we went driving around after a visit to Griffith Park. Don’t think we found it though.

    I’m hoping that he gets all his mail delivered somewhere else other than his actual home whether it be a PO box, manager’s, Bjorne’s, whatever.

    @Macy, I don’t think any info was leaked, since he bought this in March and if they were leaking they would have leaked then. I think the lady doing the blog does her homework.

  • aussiefan

    @Disney Villainess:
    LMFAO..yep, I get that !

    @ladybug:

    What does FLW mean ? Was that a joke ?

    Jeez , I think talking about post and stuff is a little out there ..only going to encourage the bat shiit crazies even more ..

  • ladybug

    @aussiefan: FLW-Frank Lloyd Wright. Dad was a fan.
    I don’t think talking about it is going to encourage anyone actually crazy enough to go looking for his house (or any celeb’s house). They were already there.
    What spending this much time on it does indicate that we are in a Skarsdrought. And probably will be for some time.

  • Cafélady

    @ladybug: #284, #295 …well, we still don’t know whether it is actually his or not. It’s a nice house and obviously in a nice area – but that it was mentioned (in that blog report) that the location of it is in Los Feliz’ celeb neighbourhood – this has not really something to say. I’m not sure, has he said in the interview that it is in Los Feliz now? However, I guess in Los Feliz exist more than 1 house which could be ideal for him, for his ideas and his preferences.
    And the price – well, I suspect a price like this in that area isn’t uncommon. And if he really has the possibility to spend this money – well, why not?

    Btw. I’ve done my saturdays through-the-shops-run today – and what could my enthusiastic eyes see in one of the store windows? The new advertising-poster for…’Encounter’! At last in this small town!! LoL ;) I thought only “oh hello darling!”. LoL :)) This sweetened my day…

    And ladybug; I’m not sure whether you do remind of our little talk a while ago – but I have bought the first part of the ‘millenium’ trilogy…:)

  • ladybug

    @Cafélady: He mentioned in the Australian GQ Style that he bought a house in Los Feliz in March. He mentioned in one of the CK interviews that it was modernist. Therefore, even with it being bought not under his name but in generically named trust, not that hard to figure out. So it may not be his, but more than likely is.

    You got an Encounter ad, I’ve not been to a local mall to see whether the stores have the ad.

    Have you read the first part yet? I love the series.

  • Disney Villainess

    @ladybug:#297 “I don’t think talking about it is going to encourage anyone actually crazy enough to go looking for his house (or any celeb’s house)”
    Nah, I really don’t think so either.:) I’m mostly just joking about the crazies breaking in his home………Skars got his bizness down pat, LOL. But like you said it’s looks like were going to have a whole lotta lack of the Viking God Supreme and this ~is~ the latest news on him so that’s what people are going the concentrate on and converse about at the moment.:)
