Jane on improving with John: “He’s an improvisational machine. I think he would say it how it was written maybe once, just to satisfy the powers that be; and then he would do it his own way, always. He always dug deeper to find a way to say it that was more appropriate to him and just sometimes shake it up just to shake it up.”

Jane on if she locked lips with Jack while filming: “We didn’t. We did not do the lip lock. And I’m glad we didn’t. That’s… that would have been completely unnecessary. But we did do the whole scene, the Nestle quicksand scene, we did get to do that together. Looking at each other and actually going [POP] and ow! And boom!”

John on the voice work he has done before: “Not quite like this, not at the scale of this, but yeah, I was in a movie called Nine, that was kind of a post-apocalyptic story for like older audiences. Actually, Jack Black and once recorded a whole animated movie on spec. You know, they were just trying to get the money together or whatever, and all the characters were designed and everything, and the script was written, but yeah, and then it went nowhere. But it’s still recorded out there somewhere.”

John on becoming an action figure for kids: “Yeah, yeah. You know, it’s all right. There could be worse things than to be loved by children. If it was a movie that I wasn’t proud of or if it was a movie that I didn’t feel like a personal connection to, then that could be a nightmarish scenario, but I remember how much I loved my toys when I was a kid, and I think that’s actually kind of an honor to be in a kid’s heart like that. That said, I’m not going to make any money if they sell a million or 400 million, but whatever. I guess that’s part of it that I’m going to have to deal with, but I’m not there right now.”

Sarah on how much of her personality is in her character: “Yeah, I was so – when I saw it, I was like, ‘Wow.’ I mean, first, like when the, as the character developed, you know, the sketches changed and stuff. And then when I first saw like, the eyebrows, you know, and I was like, ‘Hey, that’s like me.’ You know. And when the hair turned black, in a ponytail. And it’s so neat, you know, it’s already so cool to be in a Disney movie, you know. They don’t want to just crank ‘em out. They take a lot of time and are constantly honing and tweaking, and making every moment as rich as possible. And it’s cool to be a part of that. And then to see like, ‘Oh, I – if I didn’t forget to have children, I – that could have been my kid, maybe would like that.’”

Sarah on if she had input in her character’s look: “I mean, I didn’t give notes to the artists. I just was there, and you know, they have, in the recesses of the room and the shadows, you can – there’s a camera, and like a little camera on each of us. And I didn’t, I only every once in a while would notice it. And you know, “What’s that for?” And then, you know, as you see animation, the things come up, it’s – there’s, you know, little mannerisms and little features that are a little more similar and stuff. So I think that’s something they want to do. I mean, look at Jane. Jane looks just like Jane.”
