Gwen Stefani Steps Out After 'Looking Hot' Video Controversy

Gwen Stefani leaves a hotel with her adorable son Zuma who dons a Batman raincoat on Sunday (November 4) in London, England.

The 43-year-old No Doubt front woman was also accompanied by band mates Tony Kanal, Adrian Young and Tom Dumont as they headed to the X Factor UK studio, where they performed their latest single “Looking Hot.”

The band recently pulled down its new video for the song after receiving complaints of racism. In the video, Gwen is seen wearing traditional Native American clothing while being tied to poles and fighting cowboys.

people need to calm down.. they’re taking everything so fu<cking serious lately!! Rap videos are offensive – they're slapping women around, calling them ho*s but i don't see them being taken down anytime soon

you know the complaints were from 13 yr olds on tumblr who are self righteous complainers that try to gain followers by pretending they give a sh&t

@ugh: that’s because they are black and its expected of them. She is white and knows better.

It wasn’t controversial because it had something to do with Native Americans, but the way they did it. She was wearing their clothes/fashion in a disrespectful way. Cultural appropriation. They were all killed when we (Americans) got here and “discovered” this land. If No Doubt – or any artist – were to do a video portraying Native Americans and what happened, or at the very least actually used Native Americans instead of white people wearing their traditional clothing, that’d be okay. but like Lana Del Rey, wearing the Native American head piece, which I believe is/was reserved for the men, a huge honor, that was like saying, “Look at me, just wearing your culture’s things, don’t care.” It’s all just ignorance, and that’s what’s upsetting.

@Bridget: mm.. not my point, rap videos aren’t just performed by black guys – russian/greek/itialian rap videos are degrading women in their songs (and videos) 2

It’s kind of like if an Australian artist were to do a music video wearing typical US military clothing, and was using it to act sexy or something. Americans would be offended, because we’ve lost so many men and women in the past decade alone in a stupid war that we shouldn’t have even gotten into. So the No Doubt video was kinda the same. Except Native Americans are all stuck in these reservations, and we’re all out here like, “yup, if it looks cool we’ll use it, not caring about what’s happened in history”

I love Gwen but I don’t understand why she hooked back up with this band. The music is not great this time. She should stay with her man (who is so hot) and do her own thing. That video was offensive but the song kind of stinks. I’m ready for the next Gwen Stefani solo album.
    Please!

I actually really love the song, and their album Push and Shove is probably their second/third best (Rock Steady being their arguably best work to date) album. It’s just this video. And that person saying that stuff about rappers degrading women. Yes that’s offensive, but it’s just a stereotype. It’s offensive on it’s own. Cultural appropriation (using other cultures for your own profit) is a completely different thing. Think of it like someone going blackface.

@williamis: weird analogy – this video is supposedly racist but you’re talking about Australians in american military uniform? (you do know australians have an army right ?) i dnt think they’re the same thing tho’..

    williamis Says:

@*_* Yeah i know. I prefer my analogy of blackface more now, that I look back. But I meant Australians using AMERICAN military clothes in a video. Not their own.

    *-* Says:

@williamis: yes i know what you said but it was still weird. You’ve either never seen an australian music video or dont know that we have no interest in being “controversial”. . .

    williamis Says:

@*_* yes, I know. I’m sorry if I offended any Australians. All I meant was, the idea of one culture appropriating another’s for their own benefit, then trying to call it “art.” In my defense, I’m in the middle of a paper for school that’s due in three hours, and I’m not really thinking that much. Still, I apologize.

Well, some people are well aware of what they are buying whereas some buy look at the television promos. You may also find that minerals are used in cosmetic products like colore science makeup and color science sun forgettable which is also known as sunscreen lotion.
