One Direction Announces 3D Concert Movie on 'Today Show'

Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, and Niall Horan perform with their One Direction groupmates Zayn Malik and Liam Payne during their concert appearance on The Today Show on Tuesday (November 13) in New York City.

The boys brought out the largest crowd ever for the morning show to celebrate the release of their new album Take Me Home.

During their appearance, 1D announced that they have a 3D concert movie that will be released on August 30, 2013! The flick will be directed by Super Size Me documentary helmer Morgan Spurlock.

“I’m delighted we’re making this film and Morgan is the perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it’s like to be One Direction today. What the band have achieved is incredible, they and their fans have made history around the world – this is for them,” Simon Cowell said in a statement.

They performed their songs “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Little Things,” and “Live While We’re Young” for the live broadcast and pre-taped performances of “One Thing,” “Moments,” and “Kiss You” to air during the show tomorrow.

3D movie = CASH COW! Keep milking it. It’ll be interesting if the documentary does better than Never Say Never, which had a huge gross.

    Ny Says:

I don’t see the great appeal for these boys, they are like little Backstreet Boys. I saw girls on the streets of NYC sleeping outside waiting for them on Friday night. Crazy! Waiting for what? I could see if it was Katy Perry but these boys? WTF??

    Dave Franco Says:

The TRUTH hurts fan girls, doesn’t it? Keep supporting corporatism… I’m sure these lads will love sleeping in bed with your money.

FACT: This is simply a cash cow.

    Wifey Says:

They’re likable but the clock of fame is actually ticking right now. I hope they are putting money away for a rainy day and thinking about a plan B when this all goes away in a few years.Their fanbase is the same one that thought the Biebs was going to stick around forever and they moved on.

    Wifey Says:

a 3-D movie is a sure sign that they are milking this cash cow for everything it’s worth before it dries up.

Morgan Spurlock is a very very interesting choice for a director. If anyone has ever seen Supersize Me, The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, Freakonomics, this documentary will be very different than any other teen band doc

    @luvdem:
well if history shows, boybands never last forever. maybe 3-4 years TOPS, then a few years later you hear about them..and its always bad news…like suicides, drug addiction, gay scandals
    hee hee

    luvdem Says:

@nuolio: You find the misfortune of ex boyband members funny? What a sad individual you are. Some actually turn out pretty OK, and that’s what I hope for 1D.

Why do people bother talking hate, I don´t get it.
I just love these boys, that is the only reason I read about them :D

I used to think Zayn was the best vocally, but Harry has improved SO much! I think he’s the best vocally!!

    key Says:

These guys are nice and polite, and they’re living “their dream” so they live it, they don’t care about the future cause nobody knows how it will be and I admire the fact that they live their youth as celebrities like they want and mostly don’t forget to live THE moment and have fun! What’s happening today they’re enjoying it and what will happen tomorrow they don’t think about it and that’s great! Wish him all the luck and happiness they deserve!
