Katie Holmes Lets Her Hair Down for 'Dead Accounts'!

Katie Holmes unties her hair while arriving at the Music Box Theatre for her current Broadway show Dead Accounts on Saturday (November 17) in New York City.

    No more fancy outfits like she used to wear with Tom. I believe she is rebelling against Tom’s oppressive ways by enjoying a full freedom to wear what she wants (the style totaly opposite of what Tom insisted she wears), she is emancipating herself pursuing her stage career and basically not having to answer to anybody for her actions. She is finally realizing that nothing, no amount of money, no amoount of jewelry, fur coats, fancy cars etc can buy you a freedom to be yourself and to express yourself. She is growing intellectually as well, she is just simply coming to her own. New York City is a great place to a) express yourself any way you wish, b) blend in and not stand out in a crowd, c) not be a subject to stupid and superficial fashion scrutiny – in the City anything goes – perfect for her recovery.

    LOL! You really had me going there until you said “intellectually.” Ha ha! Too funny.

    Nov 29-30 we should start seeing reviews
    Not expecting any surprises (but I guess stranger things have happened), same mediocre, unbalanced (compared to the veterans sharing the stage), mousy voice performance as before.
    But, will the reviews call her on it (now that she is no longer Mrs. Cruise) or will they give her a cheesy, pathetic pass (again, because she is no longer Mrs. Cruise).
    It’s pretty messed up that veterans and novice (who have trained and have the talent and hunger) have to accept sharing the stage or being looked over so that Katie Holmes can ‘cut her teeth’ so to speak, in hopes that even a small morsel of some talent materializes and the interest generated by having her in the play pays off monetarily (which is what attendance boils down to).

    @Aranka Paul:

    Its quite reasonable to dress like a theatre actress while playing on Broadway. But to assume simultaneously an intellectual growth… ha ha ha, no.

    You got it. The critics would have crucified her acting skills in All My Sons if she hadn’t been Mrs. Tom Cruise. And didn’t the producer or one of the actors state that getting Katie Holmes would guarantee a Broadway run rather than off-Broadway. People are coming to see her because of her association with Cruise and not as actress Katie Holmes. Hopefully for her sake as the years go on they will be coming to see actress Holmes instead of ex-Mrs. Cruise–because as she fades into obscurity due to lack of interest – if her acting continues to be mediocre, well, I don’t think she’ll get many more offers.

  • Fran

    Love Katie – wish she would dress up a tiny bit more sometimes though!!

  • bebe

    Being Mrs. Tom Cruise didn’t help her get decent reviews. If anything the critics are harder on someone who is so overexposed in the tabloids. I mean why would critics give her a pass just because she was married to Tom Cruise? It’s not as if Tom is a respected broadway actor.

    @sigh: maybe it’s because she is now insecure about her gross teeth that everyone comments about!!!!

    @toria: what about intense ACTING LESSONS!!! The eternal optimist!!!

    So even New York Times won’t give legit e reviews???

    So sick of her stupid smirks and lop sided grin. She used Cruise. Go away Katie.
