Chevy Chase Leaves 'Community' Mid Season Four

Chevy Chase will be leaving his fan favorite series Community in the middle of its upcoming fourth season, according to Deadline.

The 69-year-old actor has been vocal about his desire to leave the show in the past.

“It was a big mistake! I just sort of hung around because I have three daughters and a wife, and I figured out I might as well make some bread, every week, so I can take care of them in the way they want … The hours are hideous, and it’s still a sitcom on television, which is probably the lowest form of television,” Chevy previously told The Huffington Post UK.

While most of the upcoming thirteen-episode season has been filmed already, Chevy will not appear in the final one or two episodes.

Hmmmmm, so he is blaming this all on family obligations? He didn’t have the ‘power’ to suggest changes to format? to script? So he is just standing in line for a paycheck? No desire driving his limited talents I guess. And no manners to prove he could be gracious for the paycheck I guess either. Making money off his past, and now there will be no future.

He tried the same thing at SNL. Look where that got him. So long, and can we please have Belushi back now?

That he’s leaving it’s one thing, but he didn’t need to be a d*** about it. He probably had a fight with the producers hence all the bitterness. Community may not be the biggest, funniest or most famous tv show but at least it was something for him to work on/with. Plus @wren is right. Chevy Chase is/was one of the most celebrated comediants of all times, pretty sure he could’ve shared some ideas to enhance the show comedy if he wanted to.

Good riddance. I hope Chevy gets some counseling for his personality issues and ungrateful attitude. Fletch was a long time ago and it wasn’t all that.

That sucks. Hopefully they did something really special with his character in the last season.

It baffles me how often Chevy feels the need to s**t all over the show, considering Community is above and beyond most other network comedies on air right now. Sometimes I get the feeling Chevy is a little too much like Pierce, and thus the whole show is lost on him. Sucks.

    Ungrateful much?

most of the time i don’t think that he could understand some of the joke in the show, and also he is very ungrateful, so goodbye, you don’t deserve community awsomeness!

And the lowest form of television? I can’t wait til he ends up on Dancing with the Stars and he can eat his words.

It’s too bad that Dan Harmon already left the show because of Chevy…

It’s good to hear Chevy is finally off Community. I think it’s pretty clear that having him on the show was a big mistake. Thanks to my crazy schedule at DISH I will likely miss most of the new season in February. I’ve got my DISH Hopper ready to catch the show thanks to PrimeTime Anytime. It records all the shows in prime time from the four major networks so I don’t have to remember to set timers for Community and other prime time shows. I wonder if Dan Harmon will be brought back now that Chevy is gone. I wonder if Chevy’s bad behavior has already caused too much damage for the show to continue.
