Larry was the son of legendary actress Mary Martin. Prior to his success on Dallas, Larry was most known for playing astronaut Major Anthony Nelson on the hit show I Dream Of Jeannie opposite Barbara Eden. Larry‘s last television appearances were on the resurrected Dallas show, which centered on a new generation of Ewings.

Linda Gray‘s agent, Jeffrey Lane confirmed Larry‘s death by saying that the actress was at his bedside when he passed away. Jeffrey also said that co-star Patrick Duffy was also by Larry‘s side.

So sorry , I will miss you.

  • Jen

Very sad and he will be missed. So incredibly sweet that those who obviously meant very much to him were by his side.

I never believed that people who become successful together in movies, tv, or music had to be close friends years later because of that shared experience like many fans expect. However, it is especially wonderful to see it in the cases where it does happen.

:-( This sucks. May he rest in peace. I’m most thankful to him for his work on I Dream of Jeannie which made me laugh. He kept me entertained on Dallas and his guest stint on Nip Tuck. He will be missed.

The great tragedy is that Larry Hagman’s wife, Maj Axelsson, may not even know he has died. She was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2008.

  • Mari

It is often said that people who play villains are often the nicest people in the business. R.I.P. Mr. Hagman.
When I was a very young girl I “had” to watch Dallas with my grandparents. When I was a little bit older (not much though) I have seen him as Major Nelson, which was a bit awkward, because being just a pre-teen I couldn’t get the image of J.R out of my head.
I know that Mr. Hagman has struggled with cancer for years, so my greatest wish is that he didn’t have to suffer too much.

What an icon. And apparently a very nice man also. Will miss him.
