Angus T. Jones: I Don't Want to Be on 'Two and a Half Men'

Angus T. Jones has spoken out against his hit CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men and has expressed his desire to leave the show.

“Jake from Two and a Half Men means nothing. He is a non-existent character,” the 19-year-old actor said in a video for the Forerunner Christian Church (via THR). “If you watch Two and a Half Men, please stop watching Two and a Half Men. I’m on Two and a Half Men and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it and filling your head with filth. People say it’s just entertainment. Do some research on the effects of television and your brain, and I promise you you’ll have a decision to make when it comes to television, especially with what you watch.”

“If I am doing any harm, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be contributing to the enemy’s plan … You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can’t. I’m not OK with what I’m learning, what the bible says and being on that television show,” Angus added. He also called the show “the enemy,” presumably referring to Satan.

Angus, who has starred on Two and a Half Men for the past ten years, reportedly makes $350,000 an episode.

    what??? Says:

what the heck is he talking about??? he’s been on the show for ten years and now he’s coming out with this nonsense?

  3. 3
    Kat Says:

Jeez. This is really creepy. I feel like this kid is being manipulated a bit – I find it really unfortunate that this church has taped this and released it. If he feels the show is detrimental to his well being, he should be allowed to leave, but these kind of theatrics used to preach to people using teenaged kids is really gross.

  4. 4
    Gilmore Says:

    Kirk Cameron 2.0 everyone!

Really though this kinda came out of left field. You mean all of a sudden he thinks this show is ‘evil’ and wants people to stop watching? It’s suspicious and weird.

    Asha Says:

WTF, you have no trouble accepting that $350,000 check every week though. SMH.

  6. 6
    what??? Says:

it’s so sad how he’s putting down the show that made him rich. Has he thought of how these statements will affect his costars, Jon Cryer and Ashton Kutcher to name a few, also Charlie Sheen who he worked with for so many years?? this is what I can’t stand about these extreme religious groups. The judgmental crap, is what irks the hell out of me. how insensitive and hypocritical of him.

    lola_uk Says:

So, to which charity is he going to donate the money he’s earned from the show? I’ll wait…
Now that he’s set for the rest of his life, he’s got something to say about how bad the show it? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t watch this crap but i can’t stand rich people and their self-righteousness

    Kenny Says:

Good for him!!! People dont stand for anything anymore.
He was only a kid when he started, which meant someone else manimuplated a kid on being on this kind of adult show.. Usually the parents. Now that he is old enough and aware of what goes on in Hollywood he doesnt want to do it anymore. Why is a kid on that type of show for 10 years with the type of story lines it has? Its was too mature.

    5 Says:

That whole show is bull$hit anyway. I don’t know why people think Two and a half men is even funny. That show isn’t funny at all. I guess people like $hit these days. And on top of that this kid can’t act for $hit. He sucks. Damn those millions though. Waste.

  19. 19
    Sarah. Says:

Wow.. wasn’t he the kid who earned the most money? Mygoodness, be thankful for what it gave you. He doesn’t need to worry about money. 10 years on the show and now he talks like that about the show? Unprofessional. I can’t stand that.

  20. 20
the ghost of the kids actors Says:

hey Angus do you remember Macaulay Culkin, the home alone kid? or Erik Per Sullivan and Frankie Muniz, the Malcolm in the middle guys? What about Amanda Bynes? they all have amazing careers after they left their First Big Thing, right? watch out, dont spit up, if you leave two and a half you’ll be in their club, or even worst, you’ll be just Stalker Sarah’s friend.

  21. 21
    Pattycake Says:

If this is the way he feels, then I sympathize with him. Sure, he’s made money, lots of it, over the years, for his family and manager and agents, as well as himself. But those decisions were made for him and now he’s ready to make his own.

  22. 22
    mrs_fuzzybee Says:

Uh oh. Someone drank the Flavor-aid and got all culty brainwashed. Religious extremism even Christian Extremism isn’t good for anyone. Least of all teen actors who weren’t provided a proper education or guidance by their parents. I predict he’ll go from this “church” to either Kirk Cameron’s ministry or he join up with Tom Cruise and the rest of the Space Clams. Very sad.

  23. 23
    Sunny Says:

I have never watched that show, and I will probably never watch it, but this kid seems like another troubled child actor have a psychiatric breakdown in public.

  24. 24
    sam Says:

This dude sounds like a nut case. Is he on drugs or in some strange religious cult?

  25. 25
    yeaa Says:

The Illuminati? I’m very confused about his change of heart. On one side I feel the need to support him if he wants to stand by his faith. On the other, he has made MILLIONS off of this show and his character. This reminds me of Chapelle’s (sp?) Show when he turned down $50 million. They said he was crazy. Hollywood is weird and evil.

  26. 26
    Kadoo Says:

Oh please, cry me a river ya ingrate! If you are so miserable, then QUIT! You aren’t a prisoner. LAME.

  27. 27
    lisa Says:

@Kenny: Totally agree with what you’ve said. Can you imagine all he’s seen being on that show thru his childhood and teen years? I love that he’s come out on the other side and realizes that there’s another way of ‘winning’ out there. :) A lot of people have made a lot of money off this young man.

  28. 28
    f Says:

So the Forerunner Christian Church teaches him he is a sinner for doing what he does? Yet the guy sits next to him.. knowing his message will get across since he’s with a high profile actor?

  29. 29
    Kenny Says:

So he is apart of a cult because he has a certain belief? The kid isnt quoting scriptures or hurting anyone, he is stating that he does not want to be on the show anymore because he is now aware of the harmful affects of the show and his participation in it. The industry is the cult, kids are being molested by our favorite actors while everyone sits by, drug use, etc but he is being looked down upon because he no longer wants part of this industry? Some of you are sick.
I understand though most of you arent even connected to your parents let alone a higher power…. I bet most of you didnt know majority of your fav artist are satanist? They tell you all the time and you dont listen, but as soon as someone talks about God they are in a cult.

    the_boyfriend Says:

the religious people are always cray cray, i hope he gives all the money he’s made to his church and ends up sleeping in his car and ministering runaways in west hollywood.

  31. 31
    Kenny Says:

He was a kid when his parents signed the contract for him to be on show, these kids dont have free will. Now that he is older he is more aware and trying to tell us truth… but what did Dave say? They will start calling you crazy.

  32. 32
    ShakenNotStirred Says:

He’s totally out there but I think he’s right. Sheen was around a bunch of enablers that didn’t care about his addiction until it was a public problem. Who knows. This teen may not be in a healthy work environment. The show should be canceled not because of this outburst, because it’s crap.

  33. 33
    maggy Says:

@mrs_fuzzybee: Yup. When I started reading I thought he was upset because his role had been diminished on the show (it’s been a while since I no longer watch two and a half men). But then after I read the entire post my reaction was: nein, just brainwashed.

  34. 34
    rachel Says:

    Christian crazy drug addict

  35. 35
    Kenny Says:

People now are weak, we no longer are able to see truth. The two Corey’s spoke out against child molestation in the industry, trying to warn people but no one listens… but they want to be shocked when Elmo or Penn State coaches are revealed. Parents sign over their kids to the industry and it has its way with them. Sad that people try to warn (Michael, Dave, Martin, Drew, Britney, Tupac, etc) but the foolish ears are deaf.

  36. 36
    Jill Ed Says:

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. What a stupid mistake he is making. Don’t sign the next contract and shut up about it. It’s very unprofessional.

    Lena Says:

@Kat: When did saying what u believe in become gross? I am impressed that this young man can stand up for what he believes in when all the other young people just follow whats ‘cool’ or what other celebrities r doing. He is setting an exellent example for a world with young people so sex-crazed today. And thats the topic of that show more times than not.

  39. 39
    sweetjeebus Says:

For someone who started working so early he was supposed to be a bit more mature than this. Not someone so naive to actually get involved and brainwashed by stuff like this. And bash the job that made you who you are today is defintely ridiculous… they should just fire him already and he should return all the millions of dollars he got during the time he spent serving the “enemy” because that is filthy money…let’s see if that happens…

  40. 40
    lydiax Says:

Sure the show isn’t God’s work but geez now you say this after being so filthy rich…I don’t have pity on this boy at all. Just quit and go away then and not be attention ***** about it. You could of just left without a word. Please give all your money away to the poor too since you better not keep Satan’s money and all. ha!

  41. 41

They should change the name of the show to ‘Two and a Half Brains’

  42. 42

    Mental illness?

  44. 44
    Barbara Says:

Wow…which cult got a hold on him.

  45. 45
    whosthatbitch Says:

This is some kind of performance art like Joaquin Phoenix did, right? Please, someone tell me it is. Because he can believe whatever he chooses to but really, wouldn’t it have been extremely easy to walk away from this show when Sheen was kicked off??? Wasn’t that the perfect opportunity? The show is still on, he could show some maturity and respect and speak his mind when it’s all done. He probably was already paid, right? So what’s the harm? Spoiled little brat.
This is the equivalent of someone designing a product and as soon as it hits the shelves they go “Don’t buy it, it’s such crap.”

  46. 46

    Lauren Says:

Watch the actual video, then you’ll understand what’s he’s talking about.
Clearly what he’s referring to is the Illuminati. As hard as that may be to accept…

@the ghost of the kids actors: Maculay is in a horrible state. I would not really compare this kid or the Malcom guy and Amanda Bynes with Mauculay Culkin.

  63. 63
    Kate Says:

    These comments disgust me.

Why are people calling this guy crazy? Just like everyone called Dave crazy…Just because he believes in God and is taking a stand against that garbage show? Just because he is talking about something you don’t understand?

I just can’t believe how people can call this kid crazy and think so well of all those Illuminati devil worshippers — Beyonce, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, Kesha, Lady Gaga, Kanye…. and the list goes on and on and on…

    Good for this kid.

  64. 64
    ozzie Says:

It’s a really sad note on humanity that we have come for far as a species but we are still worshiping tribal god images like this.

You can tell this guy has been so manipulated by the church to the point where he is miserable.

He is definitely not mentally healthy. I feel bad for him and the other young lives the churches are destroying.

  65. 65
    katie Says:

I’m not religious, but considering he’s a child actor, I don’t think this should be surprising. Children are supposed to be children, not working away during their childhood. As a child, I don’t think he understood the situation and jokes until he got older. Now that he’s 19 and more aware, he understands. I don’t think attacking him for not quitting sooner is fair. Not just the jokes, but also what he saw and was exposed to in that industry as such a young age were very likely disturbing.

  66. 66
    hollywoodgirl Says:

Really hope his money is under lock and key or someone steps in and gets it protected. All these church’s latching on to celebrities and wealthy people to build these mega cults.

    Dareina Says:

I never really pictured this kid to be like this. Such a shame. I mean I found him pretty boring and harmless but now hes just like alot of former child stars.
And no I don’t find him crazy but this is a bit of a shock. Why would he let this be filmed? Looks like he should start going to another chuch.

  69. 69
    winning Says:

And here I was kinda happy that the cute little Jake had turned out to be a refreshing, normal, balanced drama-free young man.
I hope this is some kind of misunderstanding.
Or maybe there’s something on the set of the show — Charlie’s curse — that makes people become weird, Jon Cryer and Ashton Kutcher better watch out =P

  70. 70
    Effy Says:

    Juicy Lucy Says:

Sounds to me like he belongs to the same religion Kirk Cameron does. Kirk is famous for the inaccuarate crap he preaches. Angus has been on the show for ten years, has made millions and makes even more millions from residuals. Not bad for an 18 year old. I must admit, the show was funnier with Charlie Sheen. Ashton Kutcher’s character adds nothing to the show. IMO, when Charlie left, the show should have been cancelled.

  74. 74
    Ginger Says:

Maybe he needs to preach to his momma or poppa who are taking the money. Regardless, you know how many kids would do to get his job? Crazy! He is lucky. THROW HIM OUT!!!!!!

  75. 75
    ae20 Says:

Finally, a youngster who isn’t compromising. I think it’s annoying when actors/actresses/singers/celebrities say they’re Christian and love God and then do everything that goes against what God represents and stands for! You can’t be on a show that does nothing but glorify sex and nasty humor and then claim you love a God who stands for purity. Thank you Angus!

  76. 76
    GregE Says:

He’s doing a lot of talking but isn’t saying anything: ” I figured that was, I couldn’t, I couldn’t, uh, that was unacceptable for me, uh it was bad news. Then a friend of mine, uh, a friend of mine. at school had told about, he said a friend of his, and his friend was the guy who couldn’t go out on Friday night. And uh, and uh, and uh, um, so I’m looking to go, I’m looking to go. And, uh, AND, uh. God is good. God is good. People see me. People see me”. He seems like he can’t express it in a coherent sentence. It’s a good thing they give him a script. Even a filthy script. He just sounds like a compete fool. He says, Uhhhhhh, I-IIIIII and Annnnnd every other word. He said the message by the Pastor that day was tailor made for him, but he doesn’t say anything about how it was tailor made for him. He just signed another one year contract. He is the highest paid teenager on television right now. His role has been diminished to practically nothing, so if he wants to leave the show that bad, they could show him the door. He hardly brings anything to the show. Angus is right that Jake means nothing and is nothing. but Jake is something to him. He wouldn’t be where he is if it wasn’t for Jake. He says his show is filth, Filth? Give me a break. It’s funny how when somebody finds God, it must come with a judgmental app. That’s the first thing newbies do is judge the world. then he says, “Try to be a filter for His love, because, otherwise, for myself, if I’m not doing His work. I really, I don’t want to, I might as well die now if I’m not doing his work, If I’m not doing, If I’m doing more harm than good, If I’m doing any harm”. If? Doesn’t he know if he’s doing any harm? He’s on the filthiest show in the world but says “if I’m doing any harm”. That was his testimony? He didn’t say anything.

  77. 77
    Tiffany O. Says:

Woah. I guess he’s entering his post adolescent idealistic phase. What a self-righteous goober.

  78. 78

    Amy Says:

What’s wrong with somebody who grows up and starting to realize that he’s been doing something wrong and wants to correct it? If he’s saying he’s gay, less people would mock him. Admitting that he has a belief is great, why are people so anti religion?

    ze Says:

    There are 2 scenerio here:-

    1) He wanted out but could not due to contract? so the easiest thing is use religion. Religion always creep people out.

    2) He is no longer a teenager and might find this new script especialy him had to kiss girl or beginning to like girls etc. He might be gay (nothing wrong with that).

We cannot be too quick to judge him. Money at times not important if one is unhappy.

1- I’m curious. Who exactly is this “Enemy”!? He sounds like a total fundamentalist. It’s good for the cult to find some clueless rich teenage Hollywood twerp to manipulate. Not a lot of cults are lucky that way. Don’t be surprised if you read on the papers someday a newsflash about Jones that contains the words ‘before turning the gun on himself’.

2- ‘Two on a Half Men’ is crap, but not because it’s ungodly, but because it doesn’t contain two and a half men anymore. It should be called ‘A Wuss, A Religious Nut and a Toyboy’.

  93. 93
    shawn Says:

The argument that “he has no problem with receiving a paycheck” is obnoxious. He did the work. He gets paid. The article and the video inform the reader that this is a “new” way in the actors thinking. People change idiots.

  94. 94
    Ask Alice Says:

I totally agree with him that the show is sick, so what’s keeping him there?

My objections to that form of ‘entertainment’ have nothing to do with religion. It’s just common sense to keep garbage out of your mouth and out of your head.

  95. 95
    Tanya Says:

Good for him, its his life

  96. 96
    cordelia Says:

Also, the fact that this is happening when he is 19 says a lot. I don’t know what his parents are like, but if they pressured him since he was 10 to work and support the family, I can see a kid doing that. At 18 or 19, he’s an adult and the studios don’t have to consult with his parents anymore. Maybe what has been happening truly sunk in, resulting in him being “lost” and not being able to trust his parents, he turned to religion as his moral compass.

  97. 97

Why just that show…. there are many shows are like that or worse. Why can’t he say stop watching TV all together???????????

    Jen In Rehab Says:

He is finally at an age where he wants to make some decisions, Other people have made money from his work. The show is lame and trashy he has a Right to express his opinion.
Why is it everyone has a right to speak out except Christians??

  100. 100
    Jen In Rehab Says:

His parents and others put him on a very adult show when he was just a kid and that was wrong.
He has a right to speak his mind, Your Agreement is Not Required!!

    Lily Says:

Whenever anyone famous brings up the subject of sexual morality and whether they believe something is right or wrong based on their religious beliefs and if they happen to be on the side of sexual purity vs. sexual promiscuity, most people yell “He’s just crazy, he’s so judgemental!”. Why is that? Is it because they themselves do not believe in sexual morality and resent anyone voicing an opinion which differs from them? The majority of the comments here are being discriminatory to his religious beliefs. As for the money – he has been on this show since he was a child, under his parents guardianship, who most likely had control of his salary. Now that he is an adult and has had a change of heart it is now his decision to stay or leave the show. I hope he follows through with his convictions and leaves the show. He now realizes that what he is doing is in conflict with his core beliefs. How can anyone disparage that?

  102. 102
    Love The Shoes Says:

I don’t watch it but ironically I have in the past wondered what kind of parent would allow their minor child to be on a seriously adult-themed show. I mean the times I’ve seen it I thought it was just beyond debased and just nasty. As far as some saying he’s whining about this but taking the money. well, he’s just 19, was all of 10 when he began on the show and still isn’t legally considered an adult until he’s 21! In otherwords, his parents were making most of those decisions and they sure weren’t gonna allow him to work for free. I applaud him for not being afraid to be honest about his spiritual change and his feeling that he can’t serve two masters.

I understand that most of you interpret this as “disrespectful” to the show that made him “millions”…you need to understand that he doesn’t see life the same way as you do, so let him make his own choices and stop judging him.
p.s.- He speaks this way about the show because it contradicts what he believes, for him to want to leave the show because of this is TOTALLY understandable. I respect him for being true to what he believes, and it doesn’t matter what anyone says because he is happy! :)

Also, he speaks this way about the show because it contradicts what he believes. For him to want to leave the show because of conflicting feelings then I TOTALLY understand and I respect him for being true to what he believes, and it doesn’t matter what anyone says because he is happy! :)

Exactly! He was a child when he signed on for the show, and now he is an adult who is able to make clear and rational decisions about his own life and future, and that future includes disconnecting himself from a show that isn’t God honoring. He really is speaking on a much deeper level than people who have no genuine understanding of Christianity, biblical teachings or spiritual warfare can understand. The whole point is that the money is meaningless, as well as the fame. He is looking to something that is much more valuable and important; the salvation of his soul and right standing with the Creator of the universe. The influences behind our media are truly demonic, and are not done for our benefit, only our enslavement. It really is a subject worth researching and understanding for yourself. Not b.c I said it, or b.c Angus said it or b.c any other person says it. We all individually choose where we will spend eternity & if for no other reason but to understand the argument behind it, it’s worth looking into.

as a little kid on this show, angus jones was funny and smart as a whip-then they started dumbing down his character-when the split with charlie sheen happened-they were ready to turn his character into a complete idiot-the std sketch was insulting and I stopped watching the show because I couldn’t believe what they did to his character. the whole show sucks now.
