Ben Affleck: 'Entertainment Weekly's Entertainer of the Year!

Ben Affleck graces the cover of Entertainment Weekly‘s Entertainer of the Year issue, for which he has been awarded the top honor!

Here’s what the 40-year-old Argo actor and director had to share with the mag:

On making Argo: “I had very low expectations for Argo‘s performance. I just hoped that over time people would find the movie. Also, being at a place in my life and my career where I know what I’m trying to do, it’s different than being 26. When you’re younger and have the early success that I had — it sounds like the worst Hallmark cliche — but I didn’t have anyone to share it with. I don’t mean I wanted someone to sit by the fire with. But when you have a family and children, you kind of see yourself reflected in them. I want to make the kinds of movies that my kids are proud of. I have higher standards, in a way, for them.”

George Clooney, on Ben’s varied success in Hollywood: “Hollywood loves a comeback, and he’s an unbelievable comeback kid.”

On wife Jennifer Garner‘s reaction to his 70s look for the film: “My wife is a very polite and kind woman. She and the kids did not like the beard. It had an exposed wire vibe. It was hated in my home.”

No wonder he wanted to be a politician. He has no problem with campaigning, does he? I wonder how they negotiated to make him Entertainer of the Year and receive these other special recognitions. It’s hard to take him seriously and no, it’s not because of JLo.

    Lol Says:

..and no doubt because his wife Jennifer is polite and kind, this douche will be caught in a cheating scandal with Kristen Stewart. A leopard CANNOT change its spot..his ego will lead him to believe he should be able to cheat and humiliate his wife and kids. Hollywood rewards that sort of conduct.

Did he ever disappear? Why the need for a “comeback”?

    WTF Says:

If anyone should be on that cover it should have been Channing Tatum…3 hit movies in a year. He entertained.

Congrats and Cheers to Ben for finding his groove and talent in directing~ He is a good actor, but performs or exceeds expectations with directing!! ARGO, was excellent and the cast, as well as, Ben should receive honors or awards for this victorious delivery of history, mixed with humor, and thrill sensation for entertainment.

Now, I have been aware of Ben since the Gigli years, and one word that he tends to use often is, “cliche” when speaking in interviews, articles, etc… Please for the mercy of my ears, drop the word, it’s been overused:) I’m confident that Ben’s vocab has many other intellectual words to use when speaking. PLEASE!!!!

Truly wonderful to see Ben happy with family, career, and passionate about his philanthropic work in the CONGO!! Keep lighting it up~

    PEACE*LOVE

@yesgirl. I agree WB is campaigning him to win the Director Oscar, but Channing Tatum is a mediocre actor ( he has admitted this) that got lucky with box-office hits.
