@chip: how about nude stockings with nude shoes or lighter on the black stockings? (I really think she is heeding our advice re: her cankles) Other than sticking her gut out(anterior tilting – There’s a trick to correcting posture: with you thumbs on your bely button, ring fingers on your pubic bone and your palms on your iliac crests, to form a triangle, your thumbs SHOULD be superior to you ring fingers) I think she looks amazing!!!.

What is up with that dress? Way too cluttered? Is that thing around her neck part of her dress or did she buy that and the belt thinking she was on the cutting edge of fashion? She also did a terrible job with her make up. I don’t care that it is minimalist, but her foundation washes her out. The dress definitely is wearing her instead of the other way around. Katie, Katie, Katie get a stylist.

Could not agree more with DB about the doughy skin and R/O ETOH abuse. Poor Auri!!!

Her reviews seem to mirror her as a person – nothing terribly objectionable, but nothing to suggest actual talent and get excited about.

The real question is whether her status as the poor former Mrs. Cruise will continue to get her work — it would be such an injustice to all of the working actors out there who actually know how to do their job.

@Thornton:

The significance (meaningfulness) of MY OPINION (snippets from reviews) was not for your approval or validation.

FYI – In another sentence the same review/reviewer states “Holmes is unable to give dimension to Lorna…..” [the "..." is where he goes into a description of Lorna -- I am including this tidbit so as not to be labelled as hiding something or dishonesty].

[my summation] “no dimension –> superficial —-> skin deep” [see how that worked]

“You pick and choose what parts of the review to show to make it agree with your preconceived notions, and that’s when your not outright lying like with the LA Times.” —- POT MEET KETTLE

You read the review one way [your opinion] and I obviously read it another way [my opinion].

Your call on posting the “good reviews”…I promise no name calling on my part.

HAPPY POSTING!

On stage, she looks pregnant.

Every review I’ve seen for Katie has been bad. Whoever on here who said they were good is delusional or picking out one decent comment in between the negative review. Katie is a joke and making her living now off being TCs Ex-wife. I wonder how long that will work for her.

Holmes — meant to lend marquee-name draw after her marriage to and divorce from an A-list movie magnet — couldn’t be better at delineating the unceasing frustrations exhibited by a lonely woman under stress.
David Finkle Huffington Post

Tabloid-reading neighbors who could care less about the theater lately have been asking me, “So, how’s Katie Holmes in that new Broadway show?”

Short answer: Katie Holmes is perfectly lovely, thanks.

At home, Jack looks for sympathy to his sister, Lorna (Katie Holmes, with a solid performance),
Robert Kahn NBC New York

None of this, however, stops the members of the cast from giving performances that never fail to fizz and sparkle. We’ve come to expect that from Mr. Butz, who might just be the smartest stage comedian of his generation, but Ms. Holmes, who floundered her way through the 2008 Broadway revival of “All My Sons,” proves to be a pleasant surprise. Not only has she learned to project, but she’s unafraid to be unglamorous.
Terry Teachout The Wall Street Journal

The understated work of Hamilton and Holmes — as Phil dances nervously around his 25-year attraction to Lorna and she remains stubbornly oblivious — gives the play a sliver of emotional engagement.

The Bottom Line

A tasty cast helps Theresa Rebeck’s undercooked play go down easily, even if it leaves zero aftertaste
David Rooney The Hollywood Reporter

Let me assure you that Ms. Holmes, who was a tad unsteady in her Broadway debut four years ago in Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons,” appears much more at ease

Despite the differences between their characters’ metabolisms (as well as their acting styles) Ms. Holmes and Mr. Butz summon an appealingly natural family rapport, especially in their first scene, which turns out to have been the show’s high point.
Ben Brantley The New York Times

These are just a few I found for you Alexianna. She generally got fine to good reviews, with a few not so good. The people who didn’t like the play put most of the blame on the writing. I don’t know if you are delusional or just an uneducated scientologist who is not allowed access to the internet, or both, but you don’t have to spew your hatred. You can check things out for yourself.

Alexianna @ 11/30/2012 at 8:39 pm

Thornton, I’m not obsessed with Katie H like you are so I won’t cut and paste all the “awful” full reviews that I’ve read. You are clearly delusional to waste your time. Also, don’t insult me by calling me a scientologist. I can’t stand that cult or Tom Cruise.

What on earth is that get up she has on?
Goodness grief. She is one annoying and boring oddball

I love when people like Thorton resort to calling other people scientologists when s/he doesn’t like was it being said about Katie Holmes.

Holmes has never proven herself to be anything other than a mediocre to downright awful actress and yet has one opportunity after the other available to her. Folks don’t care for that, and it has nothing to do with scientology. Sorry that the majority of people out there are not buying the sympathy game spewed out by her PR team and actually expect her to have talent to keep her job.

Love her! She is looking great!

WHY ARE YOU ALL SOOOOOOO JEALOUS OF KATIE???
