    Samantha is no Lea.

    Rae Says:

I love Samantha’s version. She put enough emotion into it. It fits the scene very well, but isn’t too over-done. In my humble opinion, I think Lea was overly dramatic when she sang this. Samantha was the right choice for this part. I find it hilarious that Taylor Swift auditioned for this part and actually thought she’d get it.

Yay for sure. Saw her in London after O2 concert and Samantha is a great Eponine, if not the best. Dying to see the movie.

Samantha is amazing. I really hope this movie gets all the praise it deserves and isnt pushed aside because its a musical. Chicago was able to stand on its own and this will too :)

    Ana Says:

She’s fantastic! So glad they chose her to play Eponine over Lea Michele (She’s so overhyped and seems like too much of a diva) and Taylor Swift (Why she was ever considered or auditioned is a mystery for sure).

Are you guys just talking about Lea Michele or also Lea Salonga? Lea S’s version is my fave. Barks did fine, but I think Michele would have done a good job also. Glee is boring without her, even if she is a bit annoying in real life.

I am so glad they picked samantha to be in this, she’s the perfect eponine for a film version.
eddie is a perfect marius too imo, but amanda is so bland and boring, i wish they’d pick someone better.
    i love jackman/crowe together!

Quite surprised by Russell’s performance. Wasn’t expecting that.
He’s had a though past few years with massive flops on the box office. Glad to see that he’s back at his game.

    Oscar worthy.

I have never seen your site before, I was looking up a Samantha Barks review for the new movie and saw your clip. I think your site seems really informative for reviews and gossip, but I am amazed, in a negative way, that you would ask anyone looking at the clip “yay or nay” re her performance. There’s no question – the people who cast this movie are the best in the world at what they do – I’m no Les Mis or theater person groupie – but come on – why would even one opinion matter. It was perfection when it was cast. That’s the point of this cast. They are the best. Don’t belittle a performance with opinions of people sitting around reading the internet. Be better than that.

    Katie T Says:

Samantha Barks is the best thing to happen to this movie. I just feel like all the other cast aside from Anne are not as strong as singers as this movie needs. Sam is the BEST Eponine there ever was beating Lea Michelle by the long long shot. Sam’s voice is from heaven. I’m a big big fan of Les Mis, and the casting is terrible. I’ve been a fan of Sam since the very beginning of her career in I’d Do Anything and Sam is the only real reason I’m gonna go see it in theaters, because I know shes gonna do amazing and I’ll be there to support her. I’m excited to see Sam’s first movie on the big screen and know shes gonna go VERY far after this! I really hope she wins the Oscar for this role!!! Team Dimples!! hehe

Yay for SURE! She does amazingly well. I’ve heard she steals the entire show. :D

She’s far better than that Glee diva.
