    Does anyone know when Leonardo DiCaprio turned into Fu Manchu?

  • Nicole

    Congrats to them all, I wonder if this will finally be Leo’s year to win the Oscar. I’m not so sure about Bradley though.

  • creed

    Omg yay!!!

    My two favorite actors both totally deserving, may this foreshadow the OSCARS!

  • tina

    best actress- jennifer lawrence if not then rachel weisz
    best actor- daniel day lewis if not then bradley cooper
    best supp actor- leo dicaprio if not then robert deniro
    best supp actress- anne hathaway if not then amy adams
    best movie- silver linings playbook or les misables

    just my opinion

  • creed

    Bradley Cooper! OMG, that is embarrassing, I mean really, next to DD-Lewis and Jackman, If I were him I would not even go on stage knowing how undeserving I am

  • Odd

    Bradley Cooper ???????? Seriously????????

  • Chasty

    @tina:
    No not Lawrence please,that movie was beyond overhyped, her performance was good but not award winning good, Jessica Chastain deserves it this year, Rach did amazing in Deep Blue Sea but it wasn’t popular enough

  • LEOISGAY

    I’m surprised Leo won, has anyone even seen the film? Strange.

  • hmmm

    Uh this is bizarre. How are these actors winning these accolades and when some of these films have not even been released yet?

    I think the Academy will leave many in for a shock and start awarding people out of the ballpark just to keep people on their toes.

  • Julie

    Jennifer Lawrence vs Jessica Chastain (Academy Award for Best Actress)
    most probably…

  • tinkerbell

    @hmmm: They have until December 31st to be in consideration for the Oscars. The film is previewed of course, actually submitted by the studio, in Leo’s case Miramax. At least he got something but I dont want him to win anything until he changes his ways on a personal level. Sorry, dont. .But wouldnt be surprised if he did nab a supporting, especially a supporting NOM from the Academy, just to have him bitchslapped again with a nom but no statue…

  • Pat

    What do the National Board of Review Awards tell us about the Oscars?
    Overall, this is a list of winners to be looked at as just that, winners. The National Board of Review is more likely to help a film get a nomination, but don’t look at a perceived “snub” or omission as a sign a film is losing favor in the race.
    Because the NBR is one of the first awards of the season, their members often don’t see late entries into the derby that eventually figure into the Oscar race. Last year, as with the New York Film Critics Circle, the NBR voters did not see “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” which landed a Best Picture bid. Two years ago, they missed out on “Blue Valentine” and “Rabbit Hole” which reaped Oscar bids for leading ladies Michelle Williams and Nicole Kidman respectively.
    And sometimes the NBR members just don’t take to films which end up being Oscar contenders.

  • LEOISGAY

    Leo won’t be nominated for an Oscar. He was lucky to get this thing, whatever this is. There are way too many good supporting roles for him to win this year or even be nominated.

  • Jessy

    @hmmmm because movies have been screening for critics before been released

  • Len

    @Pat: @Pat: I’m agree with Pat :

    National Board of Review Winners 2011 (last year):
    Best actor: George Clooney
    Best actress: Tilda Swinton
    Best supporting actor: Christopher Plummer
    Best supporting actress: Shailene Woodley

    AND… Academy Award Winners 2011 (last year) :
    Best actor: Jean Dujardin
    Best actress: Meryl Streep
    Best supporting actor: Christopher Plummer
    Best supporting actress: Octavia Spencer.

    1/4 (for Christopher Plummer)!
    National Board of Review Award is not the Oscars… So, yes, “this is a list of winners to be looked at as just that, winners.”

  • NotAGirl

    Hey, Ann Dowd won too!

  • Jax

    Who ever thought Bradly Cooper would be on the award show circuit? LOL!

  • hmmm

    Why even bother with so many of these awards? It has now boiled down to a film not even released that it’s getting an award. Who is nominates a film that hasn’t been made and who is voting for it is all behind the scenes.

    And then these same critics don’t acknowledge half these films don’t have an audience and do dismal at the box office. No wonder they mock films that make money and are favored by audiences, because for sure the list of winners would hardly include any of these so called winners.

  • Yohji

    @hmmm: You’re an idiot. There are film screenings. The people that are voting for these awards ATTENDED these screenings, mainly critics.

  • YCO

    Bradley Cooper over Daniel Day Lewis?
    They have no credibility. Maybe even Cooper is like ‘WTF!?’

  • Mary

    This year’s potential winners’ list is all over.

  • Hannah

    YEAH LEO! CONGRATS. Well deserved. Haters can suck it.

    People who vote for these have already seen the film. The film has been screened to critics since last Friday and screenings have been going on ever since.

  • Steven

    As for those questioning Bradley Coopers win well I thought he was fantastic in Silver Linings Playbook and it was the first time I was ever impressed with his acting. I haven’t seen DDL In Lincoln. Based on what critcs are saying I still think is DDL oscar to lose. I doubt Cooper will win an oscar but this is good news for him. Its looking like he will at least get an oscar nomination. I use to hate on Cooper but after watching his performance I changed my mind about him. He’s good in this film. At least watch the film before criticizing him.

  • LEOISGAY

    This award is completely useless and meaningless. Don’t get too excited Hannah. No one that has seen it has been allowed to review it and they won’t for another 10 days, and people who have seen it praise other other actors more than Leo. They gave it to him because it was a novelty to see him in a the role as a villain. That’s it. I doubt he’s that great in the film.

  • Steven

    @LEOISGAY:

    Keep telling yourself that. I can already tell you’re a freaking idiot based on your username. Get a life. Many people have already said he is fantastic in the film. All the tweets praising Leo’s performance can be found on IMBD. By the way last year’s winner Christopher Plummer went on to win the oscar. So they are not as useless as you think. Is a great indicator of who might get nominated. This win just makes me more excite to see his performance. Educate yourself moron.

  • LEOISGAY

    @Steven: Come Oscar season we shall see who is right. :)
    You seem so sure.
    I’m willing to bet all the money in the world Leo doesn’t win, I’m that confident. :)

  • Ari

    @LEOISGAY:

    LMAO! You must be Weirdo correct? You’re delusional. You must hate the fact that Leo won. HAHAHA. How does it feel to be wrong?

  • OP

    There will be a big push for Leo. Miramax. Tarantino. Villain. It seems like a weak field this year. He’s been around a long time. I expect he will be nommed, and possibly win if Django is good.

    I love David O. Russell films, but Silver Linings was SO overhyped. Maybe with better leads it could have been more. Lawrence and Cooper are beyond bland. DeNiro is the best. If anyone gets nommed from that movie, I hope it’s him.

    Best Actor is DDL. No question. I hope Jackman is good enough to get a nom. He’s so talented, but he’s been in so many bad films.

    I would love to see Chastain, Adams, Weisz, and Cotillard get noms. Can do without Anne H and J Lawrence.

  • Clarissa M.

    Yah!! I’m so glad Jessica Chastain won an award. She’s a terrific actress. I read that Navy SEAL book No Easy Day so when I saw the trailer for ZDT I was instantly intrigued. Now that’s it’s getting such a great reception, I’m really excited to see that one. Django Unchained, even though Dicaprio won I heard that was a western style movie. Eh. Not really something I get excited about. Also on my must-see list is Les Miserables. I cannot believe no one from that cast won here. Such a tremendous group of actors. I just love love love Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe. I’m going to see Silver Linings Playbook this weekend. Bradley Cooper can be hit or miss for me. Sometimes he’s OK, sometimes he’s good. Based on some of the comments here his performance is pretty good so I’m excited to see that one too.

  • Jessica

    @hmmm:
    Um..the movies who are considered good are released earlier before the awards season FOR CRITICS ONLY. I thought everybody knew that…

  • Jessica

    I have to say congrats to Leo (I hope he will get a nom after being snubbed so many times!! I also absolutely start loving Jessica and so glad she is getting another nom after just one year! Hope she will win. And also, congrats to Ann Dowd whose movie was amazing. About Cooper – I be 30 bucks he won’t even get nominated (probably The Great Robert De Niro will take his place).

  • Ein

    @Steven:
    Thank you! Each day that passes i’m more amazed by the Cooper Haters. So what if DDL didn’t win this one? Just because he is DDL he has to win ALL the awards? Please. Yes, he is terrific and all but BC is a very good actor too (of course nobody would notice that if they only saw the hangover movies and, idk, the a team)
    Maybe he will get an Oscar nom but i’m not so sure. He definitely won’t win, i like BC but i’m realistic and i don’t think he will. Probably DDL will…or any other but not BC. Anyway, this must be important for him, and i agree with those that said that even him must be surprised. BC has said that he thinks that DDL is the best actor ever. So…yeah.

    Agree with you on watching the film before criticing him. I don’t think he is getting great reviews for nothing.

  • : )

    LEOISGAY = Weirdo
    so no read thumb down :))

  • : )

    YAY
    Leo wins :))
    hahaha I am so happy

  • Teddy Roosevelt

    This list of winners is funny! it’s like they knew these actors weren’t going to win the oscar so they gave them an award. Or trying to promote films that haven’t even been released yet. No mention of The Hobbit. Pfffft. that’s what I’m going to see when it comes out. I know it will be entertaining, incredible, awesome, don’t need a critic to tell me that!!

  • Issy

    I’ve seen Lincoln and Silver Linings Playbook. Two completely different films, but what Daniel Day-Lewis does in Lincoln is above and beyond anything Cooper achieved in SLP. There are several performances I rank better than Cooper’s and the year’s not over yet. Weinstein has his dirty hands all over these awards.

  • Juicy Lucy

    Les Miserables or Zero Dark Thirty will win the Best Picture Oscar. I really had hopes that the Great Gatsby would have been released over Christmas as it could have been a great Oscar contender. I’ve seen the trailer and really liked Leo’s performance. It will be interesting to see if Bradley Cooper gets an Oscar Nomination over Hugh Jackman. I think that Jennifer Lawrence and Robert DeNiro will get nominated but I don’t think either of them will win. My bet is Anne Hathway winning for Les Miserables as her performance is generating plenty of buzz.

  • Shizzle

    Leonardo DiCaprio hasn’t won an Oscar? Well can’t say I’m that surprised by the news. He always seems to play the same character over and over again. Gatsby will be LD playing himself in a Gatsby film.
    Juicy Lucy can already tell from just a trailer, how long is that exactly? 60 seconds of screen time that his performance is superb. I wish that a trailer = movie greatness, then I wouldn’t be sucked into watching awful films just because the trailer is great. Nice that you have that talent though. I didn’t know it existed.

    That’s really awful.
