Angelina Jolie: Zaatari Refugee Camp Visit

Angelina Jolie holds hands with a little girl during a visit to the Zaatari refugee camp on Thursday (December 6) in Mafraw, Jordan.

This is the 37-year-old actress’ second trip to the region in three months to meet with the civilians that are being targeted.

“What I saw last night is a dramatic example of the plight of hundreds of thousands of Syrians who have been uprooted by the fighting and are in a desperate search for safety,” Angelina said to the UNHCR. “Civilians inside the country are being targeted. Many of those trying to flee are exposed to extreme danger right up to the border itself. I appeal to all sides in the conflict to do all they can to ensure the safe passage of these innocent civilians.”

I saw pix of Liv Tyler at The Hobbit premiere but I don’t see that she’s ripping off anything Angie’s ever worn. That outfit she’s got on is the fugness. And them red shoes she’s wearing don’t “go” with anything but a nosebleed.

  • dawne

I find it offensive JJ has that stupid ‘get the look’ popup on this thread of Angie’s……….really?? She’s in a refugee camp not strutting for pap attention.

And as for the trolls who continue their quest to paint all things JP as ‘career promotional’………can you puleeze come up with something else….y a w n.

If Angie takes her kids to a zoo or a park she is seeking fame….yet if she pulled an Elvis and expected the zoo or park to close she’d be a diva………..maybe she should just lock her kids in the house so they can hide from the world like hermits in order to satisfy the haters………she has every right to come and go in the world as she wishes…….just like everyone else. So Lamey and the haters can shove their ‘manipulating the press’ conspiracy right up their tight, biased and very jealous azzes’

We are exposed daily to the Hillary Duff’s, the Jen Garners, the models, the Kartrashians, the Reese’s, the Jessica’s (Alba and Simpson) the Ticky’s et al, but that’s okay for your effing double standard. People who have not paid the dues Angie has in acting talent, iconic beauty and humanitarianism.

    Go figger, losahs.

First thank god you were able to post first on this thread you beat the critters to it Bravo my dear Bravo. I saw someone’s lame a$$ name stealing post in your name how thick are they for them to think it was you lol.

On another note Hello PT see how subtle I was lol you need to read this article about Putrid I bet no one is going to call her out are they? There are some fine digs at Putrid in this article or should I say gives a good idea the state of her marriage so no time for spending time with hubby on ninth anniversary shed rather pimp her perfume makes you wonder what her No 1 fan Lames would make of that ? Also the reason for the post was for you to see the most awkward kiss between a husband and wife I know it’s been shown before but there is no harm to be shown again.

    Extracts from the article:

Earlier this week she revealed she only likes to take on one small job a year otherwise she ‘can’t cope’ with juggling being a working mother. But it seems Gwyneth Paltrow may have already gone back on her word as she was back at work on Wednesday night at the Hugo Boss launch in Dubai.

‘You make choices as a wife and mother, don’t you? You can’t have it all. I don’t care what it looks like.’
But she didn’t mind taking on a job with Hugo Boss this week even though it meant that she couldn’t be with husband Chris Martin on their ninth wedding anniversary on Wednesday.

Angelina Jolie is Responsible for Pantone’s Colour of the Year
Thursday, December 6, 2012, by Kenzie Bryant
Emerald has bumped both (the very wearable but also sort of blah) Monaco Blue and Dusk Blue from the top two spots of Pantone’s most popular colours of Spring 2013 in a Color of the Year coup—and we have Angelina Jolie to thank for that. Allow a WWD info graph to explain the psychology of a colour trend:
“It took a few years but the 115-emerald green earrings Angelina Jolie wore to the Academy Awards seem to have had a hand in this spring’s colour palette. [Pantone Colour Institute’s top dog, Leatrice Eiseman explains] ‘There is no question that what the stars wear creeps into people’s consciousness. It gets embedded in your mind. You might see another photo of that same colour and it has a positive effect. It builds up your confidence in that colour.’”
And boom: The 2013 Colour of the Year was born. In case you’re looking to get a head start, Pantone has graciously offered some emerald things to buy here.

Angelina Jolie Was Way Ahead Of The Curve: The Color For 2013 Is Emerald
Angelina Jolie had the right idea when she wore a pair of vibrant Emerald earrings to the Academy Awards in 2009. She pulled it off perfectly by wearing nothing but darkest noir and those stunning jewels.
Folks at Pantone must have noticed. The New Jersey-based company has announced that Emerald is the color of the year for 2013–a hue that symbolizes clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, says Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
“The human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” she says. “Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world.”
It’s an apt choice for Pantone, considering that next year is the Year of the Snake: I’m picturing an emerald-green viper wound around a diamond-encrusted neck like something in a Van Cleef ad. (Last year’s choice was Tangerine Tango. Apparently Dragon Red was too obvious.)

It’s also an influential choice. Color forecasters, manufacturers and store buyers closely follow the annual color selection, which sets trends in everything from nail polish and handbags to carpeting and car paint. Design houses like Tracy Reese, Nanette Lepore, and Marimekko will be incorporating the color into their spring collections; Sephora has announced a beauty collection that features PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald.
Eiseman says the choice will bring a classic elegance and sense of rebirth to color palates next year. A boom in Emerald wedding rings can’t be far behind.

I love this photo of Angie, lets see how many gossip out lets will talk about this visit to a refugee camp? Would they deflect from the real issue yet again like they did last time? By misleading the headlines taken out of context from a 25 minute interview a question asked about humanitarian issues vs. acting.

Whenever I see these photos of Angie with these children are so cute where ever she goes these children follow her they most definitely gravitas towards her don’t they. The little girl is so cute it’s like I don’t care who you are your picking me up ok. Isn’t it surprising how relaxed she makes them feel as if they are one of her own family?

She is a great role model for young children I love seeing how relaxed she is around these children and how relaxed they are with her. I don’t know if any one remembers that photo of Angies last visit to a Refugee camp I cant remember it was in Turkey or not but this young girl is sitting in her lap playing with her pony tail with no care in the world ahh so loved that photo hopefully a fan will be able to post it.
Another cute photo taken a while ago look at the Angie & this beautiful child don’t they just radiate happiness

Apologies if this post/link is already is posted, I just came across this while looking for current news:

Halleluiah an article that reports the truth which makes a pleasant surprise someone’s got the balls to speak the Truth for change, instead of going down false reporting like the usual suspects pf trashy tabloids. I say big up to this journalist Mary Elizabeth Williams she is a diamond in a million, if only others would follow suite. I think this article should be posted on every website in my opinion

It’s not about Angelina Jolie quitting acting
The actress speaks out about rape in Syria, and the media hears only the part about her acting-career plans VIDEO
    By Mary Elizabeth Williams
For a report this week on Britain’s Channel 4 about rape in Syria, actress and UN special envoy Angelina Jolie spoke out to Cathy Newman about the efforts to aid refugees. So what were the headlines after the interview? USA Today reports that “Angelina Jolie planning to quit acting.” E! says, “Angelina Jolie… Plans to Give Up Acting.” Access Hollywood asks, “Angelina Jolie To Retire When Her Kids Become Teenagers?” And the Christian Science Monitor says, “Angelina Jolie home with the kids? She’s talking about retiring from acting once her brood hits their teen years because of ‘too much to manage’ at home.” If this were the comprehension portion of the SAT, the mainstream entertainment media would have just bombed out mightily.
It was during the final minute of the interview that Jolie, who happened to be sitting next to Foreign Secretary William Hague, responded to the question of whether she ever thinks her humanitarian work is more rewarding than her acting. “I think I’m going to have to give up acting as the kids hit the teenage years anyway, because there’s going to be too much to manage at home,” she said, adding, “If it went away tomorrow, I’d be very happy to just be home with my children.” And that was totally the most significant part of the whole piece. Not William Hague calling the situation in Syria “one of the worst things happening in the world today.”
Sure, Jolie is a huge, Oscar-winning star, and her career decisions are entertainment news. But this isn’t quite the same thing as when her partner Brad Pitt last year said he was giving his acting career “three years” more because “I am really enjoying the producing side and development of stories and putting those pieces together” during an interview that was not about mass rape as a weapon of war.
Similarly, Jolie’s acknowledgment that the obligations of parenthood don’t end when a kid is toilet trained – a sentiment that became part of the national conversation earlier this year when Anne-Marie Slaughter famously railed about “having it all” — would, in the context of a different discussion, have been a legitimate a jumping off point for another public discourse of work and motherhood. I would like to point out however that, gosh, it’d sure be nice if a woman’s choices about how to raise her family didn’t always seem to come with a big fat wave of A-HA! She can’t hack it! By all means, let’s focus on making sure women everywhere are reminded that, as the CS Monitor tells us, Jolie and Pitt “can hire whatever help they want. Nannies, housekeepers, tutors, LEGO experts, whatever. But still, parenthood changes things.” Thanks, helpy helpertons!
It’d be even nicer if the takeaway from an 11-minute segment about bringing aid to women who’ve been sexually assaulted could be something other than the big news that Angelina Jolie says she’d be happy staying home with her kids. I swear to God, I can’t imagine how emotionally deficient a journalist would have to be to watch a story about harrowing sexual violence and boil it down to a headline about who’s quitting acting.
And so, because it seems to have been missed in all the busy chatter about how the movie star is “managing” motherhood, let me tell you what else Jolie told Channel 4. She said, “These years in the filed, I continued to meet victims of sexual violence who had seen no justice, and had felt isolated and abused, and abuse upon abuse because they’d been ignored … How dare we not do something?… How can we live in a world where people are abused in such fashion? Where young girls and boys are being raped so violently?” Not a sexy, headline making statement. Definitely not one that affects whether there’s a sequel to “Salt.” But if you’re talking about a woman who’s trying to raise awareness of women who’ve been ignored, it’s the one message to not ignore.

Angelina Jolie revisits Syrian refugees in Jordan
Angelina Jolie meets with Syrian refugees in Jordan who had fled from conflict in their home country.
    9:33AM GMT 07 Dec 2012

UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie travelled to the Jordan-Syria border to meet frightened and exhausted Syrian refugees who had just completed the perilous crossing to safety in Jordan.
The Hollywood actress met a family who moved from Damascus to their home town of Daraa four months ago but decided they should flee to Jordan.
This family is joining tens of thousands of others who have already fled to Jordan and surrounding country.
Jolie returned to the camp on December 6 to meet more refugees and the family she talked to before.
Nearly half a million Syrians fleeing intensified fighting have been registered in neighbouring countries since the conflict began.

Hundreds of thousands more are unregistered, but are expected to come forward for help in the next few months as their resources are depleted.
Since the UNHCR special envoy’s last visit in September, the number of registered Syrian refugees in the region has increased by more than 200,000 and in Jordan alone by nearly 50,000.
The sprawling Za’atri refugee camp north of Amman has doubled in size.
Angelina Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt, made a donation of $50,000 dollars for the purchase of family tents for refugees.

Angelina Jolie travels to Syria-Jordan border as refugee influx continues
UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie meets with refugees at the Za’atri refugee camp in Jordan. Angelina Jolie continued to express solidarity with Syrian refugees and paid tribute to the Jordanian government and people for their strong commitment to refugee protection.
AMMAN, Jordan, December 6 (UNHCR) – UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie has travelled to the Jordan-Syria border overnight on Wednesday-Thursday to meet frightened and exhausted Syrian refugees who had just completed the perilous crossing to safety in Jordan.
“What I saw last night is a dramatic example of the plight of hundreds of thousands of Syrians who have been uprooted by the fighting and are in a desperate search for safety,” Jolie said Thursday on her second mission to the region in three months.
“Civilians inside the country are being targeted. Many of those trying to flee are exposed to extreme danger right up to the border itself. I appeal to all sides in the conflict to do all they can to ensure the safe passage of these innocent civilians.”
Nearly half a million Syrians fleeing intensified fighting have been registered in neighbouring countries since the conflict began. Hundreds of thousands more are unregistered, but are expected to come forward for help in the next few months as their resources become depleted.
Since Jolie’s last visit in September, the number of registered refugees in the region has increased by more than 200,000 and in Jordan alone by nearly 50,000. The sprawling Za’atri refugee camp north of Amman has doubled in size.
Upon arrival in Amman on Wednesday night, Jolie travelled immediately to the border, about an hour’s drive north of the capital. In a briefing with border officers, she praised Jordan for welcoming Syrian refugees despite serious social and economic strains.
“The incredible compassion shown to these traumatized refugee families by the Jordanian border guards tonight was extremely moving,” she said, noting that the troops were on duty along the tense frontier 24 hours a day, seven days a week. “Jordan has welcomed the refugees even though it has placed a huge burden on the country. The international community needs to show more solidarity and to support Jordan and the other countries in the region who continue to keep their borders open.”
The Special Envoy spoke with several refugees who had just fled across the border in total darkness to two remote border reception stations overlooking a broad plain straddling the frontier. The distant thud of artillery could be heard north of the border, where the lights of Syrian towns were visible. In all, 328 refugees arrived in Jordan during the night. Around the region, some 2,000 refugees flee to neighbouring countries daily.
“We had a beautiful, hospitable country,” one refugee told Jolie. “We always helped one another. Now, there’s nothing left and we can’t even help each other.”
Medical staff at the border post said at least six of those who arrived overnight had to be hospitalized, some with bullet wounds. Jolie was stunned by one medic’s account of a wounded child who had lost his leg. “It was extremely upsetting to hear the story of an eight-year-old boy who upon arrival in Jordan explained to doctors that he had asked his family to carry his severed leg along on the journey in hopes that it could be reattached,” she said.
“I’m sickened by how long and how bloody this conflict has become, devastating a nation and the lives of millions of innocent civilians, and threatening to destabilize the entire region. I call on the international community to do everything possible to find a solution to this tragedy and support the struggling humanitarian operations both inside Syria and in Jordan and the other surrounding countries.”
On Thursday, Jolie visited Za’atri refugee camp, where those who arrive nightly at Jordan’s remote border crossings with Syria are transferred. UNHCR and its partners are in a race against time to prepare the camp and its more than 30,000 residents for winter, along with hundreds of thousands of other refugees throughout the region.
Among the refugees she visited in the camp was a family of eight she had met the night before at the border, shortly after they had crossed from Syria. They had already been provided with a tent and an aid package of household items ranging from warm blankets to kitchen utensils. Although their tent is not designed for winter weather – that will come later – they were nevertheless thankful for the help they had received on their first day in the camp.
“We’re very grateful for what we’ve received, and even more grateful to finally be in a safe place,” the head of family said. “Now we’re eager to find out about schools for the children.”
The Special Envoy viewed a number of the winter projects under way in the camp, where overnight temperatures are dropping to freezing. Tents are being reinforced and better insulated to protect against the weather, including the addition of “porches” where gas heaters are being placed. Some 30,000 high thermal blankets are being distributed, along with winter clothing.
A storm drainage system is being built and a layer of crushed rock spread throughout the camp to channel water away from shelters and prevent mud and standing water. In addition, more than 1,300 prefabricated shelters have been erected and another 1,300 should be in place within three weeks.
“Winter is already here and UNHCR and its partners still lack 50 per cent of the funds needed to get everyone through the next few difficult months,” Jolie said.
“Despite all the good work being done so far, it’s clear here on the ground that all the resources are now stretched to the limit. This is going to be a very tough few months. Winter can be harsh here, even dangerous for refugees who may already be weakened by their ordeal. Many have been brutalized in unimaginable ways. They deserve all the support we can give them.”
Angelina Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt, made a donation of US$50,000 Thursday afternoon for the purchase family tents for refugees. Later Thursday, Jolie was scheduled to conclude her mission with meetings with Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour and Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh.

    OT -
Where’s last week’s BO troll, aka, that moron Tampon? Seen the projections for Bloatler’s latest romcom dud? It’s opening in almost 2900 theaters and the projections are in the $5-7MIL range. That’s about 500 theaters more than KTS – and it’s a romantic comedy not a talky “R” rated gangster/hit man movie. KTS cost $15MIL. Playing For Weeps (not a typo) cost $35MIL – plus the $200 they wasted on marketing. LOL!
What’s really funny is the way they’re promoting the movie – Jessica Biel is probably very pissed because her name is not being used in any of the promos and she’s barely even in the trailer. It looks like an 8-day old, dried up turd buried at the bottom of a cat’s litter box and currently has a sparkling 0% Fresh rating at RT – 0 for 46. That’s an ignominy that even Ticky has never suffered. Even Bountiless was a sterling 13% Fresh. Who’da ever thunk Ticky made Bloatler better in Bountiless? BBBBBBWWWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Take heart, Tickster, you’re apparently a better actress than Jessica Biel…which is like saying you’re a better fvck than hole-less donut, but hey, ya gotta take what you can get (including buying another woman’s boyfriend of 14 years). Uma Thurman, CZJ and Dennis Quaid? Y’all cashed the checks. Hope ya bought something nice with that dough. This sucker’s been in dry storage for well over a year. Film District should have left it there.
BTW – Some of the review snippets from RT are hilarious…
The only thing Playing for Keeps teaches us is: Guys, forget the bars and nightclubs. Soccer moms are where the action is.
An undistinguished, impact-free watch-checker that will soon be vaguely distracting transatlantic travelers who forgot to carry on their iPads.
Soccer moms will find eye candy Gerard Butler good to look at if they can stay awake through his movie.
About the best thing to be said for this movie…is that it doesn’t costar Katherine Heigl.
As boldly original as its title, “Playing For Keeps” is an unconscionable waste of time and talent–the kind of film seemingly designed to appear on a cable channel that you just had deleted from your package.

    …and my personal fave…
Butler beware: In acting as in soccer, if you keep taking dives, sooner or later you pay the penalty. (When, please? And could you get Ticky a double?)

Wow, what great fans the JPs have, I always enjoy lurking and reading your discussions….

fyi12@comment 84, re Lamey and her idioctic comment comparing Angie and Ticky in the same news cycle, well what can I say she’s a prime hen-idiot. Without fail, whenever there is mention of Angie in the broader media, and Lamey decides to comment on it (she doesn’t always), she always, always finds a way to link Ticky to Angie in her comments, always. Talk about linking the so-called triangle, she’s one perpetrator, besides the tabs, who’s always deliberately putting the three together. Her hypocrisy, it makes me sick. Some people may find it amusing, but I don’t. I call it stalking, just like Tickey’s stalking of the JPs. But I am glad to see that someone else noticed, even if Lamey did try to spin like it was so funny, hahahahaha NOT.

Neer@150, what a great assessment of Angie, how very insightful. As fans we only “know” her by observation in the general media, and through her interviews, but I think you’ve hit the nail on the head about Angie. I’m so proud to be her fan, and am very happy that she’s found her life’s goal at such a young age. Most of us muddle through life, and try to find life’s purpose after age and experience has taught us a lot, so she is very fortunate to have seen the light so early. Great comment Neer.

BTW, I saw some photos of Angie’s tats on the Brange forum, and all I have to say is oooh la la, mucho secky!! Brad is one lucky dude!!!

ROTFLMAO at Ticky and Huvsy denying ANOTHER pregnancy rumor. We all know why they bother doing it but dayum…it’s tiresome as hell. The rags came out on Wed…no denial. Angie’s seen in Jordan on Thursday. Friday…pregnancy denial becomes necessary. Everybody check your watches to make sure Ticky didn’t steal the hands off them…

@Passing Through: Hi PT, you know Ticky will be 50 yo and her hens will believe be begging her to get pregnant. The hens cannot stand to see Angie/Brad with their beautiful kids and she is still childless. If Ticky wants a kids she would have adopt by now. I bet 6 years from now when SS is 50 yo the trolls will still wishing she is pregnant.

I see Frick is here, I’m sure frack will soon shows her ugly head. We know it’s the same troll with the split personality talking to it self.

Things must be slow over at FF, their trolls are wondering our here. I’m guessing they can’t breath without seeing or talking about beautiful Angelina Jolie Pitt. I wish trolls would wake up and smell the coffee, Brad loves Angie and they are getting married, SOON!!

  • Rose

I forget to mentioned, while at the checkout counter today I looked through US magazine. I know I’m biased, but there were about 5 photos of star kids and Knox was in the group. I must say, that little boy is seriously a beautiful child, omg. Brad and Angie, in a few years, will be fighting the girls off with a stick.

it’s the weekend again, which means you’ll be here for 48 hours plus, changing names and hating online because u have no other life.

i love that u get so bothered that the JP’s have fans, u don’t change anyone’s opinion here, why bother?

just to annoy strangers on the internet, and to blow off steam with ur rage here because everyone in ur offline life cannot stand u?
    socialyl isolated?

why don’t u go out on the town for once, find a BF or something?
maybe then you’d be less angry?

  • congrats, ur a tool

why do you hate passingthrough so much?
what would u do if u knew PT personally?

  • congrats, ur a tool

if knox is gay, he’ll still get more tang that u ever will lol

  • congrats, ur a tool

btw, trolling and baiting IS an offensive of blog rules,,just sayin’

u break the rules all the time,,but u need this place, you come back all the time,,u legit couldn’t cope if u could never come back to JJ ever again.

you’d cry for a month straight if u couldn’t put ur little rage online.
u need the fans, u would not know what to do with yourself if u had a life ban here.

Frick and frack just showed his true self stalking a 4yo child by calling that child gay. Tasmin is a pedophile, you all. You should be ashamed of your self you freak calling your self a human being. I always knew you were a freak. Always coming on here with so much hate in your heart, every freaking day. Now we all know #207 is a freaking pedophile. I hope they put your stinky as$ in jail, you freak!!

Thanks, Jared & Chris, for deleting the defamatory post from last night. Some posters are not only completely out of control but they are just plain stupid.

This tribute to Brad comes from the website of an Austrian radio station
The Curious Case of Bradley Pitt

A tribute to one of the biggest intermediaries between mainstream, cinematic art and genre cinema
What really fascinates me, however, is how this hunk, who is apparently aging in super slow motion, has mutated into a central figure of the exciting contemporary cinema. As director Stefan Ruzowitzky (Austrian Oscar winner 2008) recently noted, there are only high-profile actor names that make certain risky projects in Hollywood still possible. Brad Pitt handles his respective power with much more creativity than any other superstar of his generation.

you can tell that Pitt has a real fascination for the cinema. Without drawing boundaries between realism and escapism, cineasm and genre brutality, the man slips into cynical assassins, wrecked antiheroes and brittle father figures as well as in larger than life action characters.

If you add to the actor Brad Pitt his role as a producer you’ll have definitely to see him as one of the most important cinematic intermediaries who fuses art and commerce. Directors like Terrence Malick, Andrew Dominik, Matthew Vaughn or soon Steve McQueen owe him a lot.

And: The fact that hardcore multiplex visitors, where the name Brad Pitt pushes populist buttons, sometimes get lost in films such as “The Tree Of Life ” or” Killing Them Softly” lives up to the concept of cinematic subversion probably more than some radical epos at the “Viennale” (Austrian film festival).
