Angelina Jolie: Zaatari Refugee Camp Visit

Angelina Jolie holds hands with a little girl during a visit to the Zaatari refugee camp on Thursday (December 6) in Mafraw, Jordan.

This is the 37-year-old actress’ second trip to the region in three months to meet with the civilians that are being targeted.

“What I saw last night is a dramatic example of the plight of hundreds of thousands of Syrians who have been uprooted by the fighting and are in a desperate search for safety,” Angelina said to the UNHCR. “Civilians inside the country are being targeted. Many of those trying to flee are exposed to extreme danger right up to the border itself. I appeal to all sides in the conflict to do all they can to ensure the safe passage of these innocent civilians.”

how do you advise the jolie-pitts to release the news and/or any photos of a wedding, PR expert?
since u think u know what is best for them, like an amauter agent u think u are.

  • Gold Standard

This comment was on Jezebel’s write up re: Angie’s trip:
My friend does all sorts of nonprofit PR, and she comes back with some insane stories, but she was very impressed with Angelina Jolie. My friend’s company was prepared for all the usual celebrity crap: fly in my stylist, makeup done by a specific person, put me up in a hotel, I need my publicist, blah blah. But Jolie just walked in alone wearing a dressed-down outfit, did her own makeup, was friendly and knowledgeable if a little quiet, recorded a few takes of a message she’d largely written herself, thanked everyone and walked out again. Easiest celebrity interaction my friend had ever experienced. Says Jolie should be the gold standard for NGO-celebrity interaction.

    back at ya CLINIQUA!!!

here’s hoping my girl anjie is back to brads arms. sweet.

@Gold Standard: Good morning all. It’s so good to hear the real story about the real Angelina. She had said she was very shy and the fans know that Angie never get glamorous when she is doing her field work. Thanks for bringing the link over.

Good morning to all the early birds. I see JJ has banned Frick and frack, hoping it stays away. The hate that comes out of that troll’s mouth would make Satan blushed.

  • busted

    @Gold Standard:

everyone that has worked with her says the same thing. The other UN workers all talk about how she is not a diva. They also talk about how she pays her own way.

Now surprised by this account at all. She is an amazing person. And the real deal. Haters only see what they want. Can’t see the truth through their hate. But Facts are facts..

  • Yoco

@oh no, tasmin posts r gone lol: I thought that troll was a man.

busted- very true. Even before they were famous, there are countless anecdotes over the years about both Brad & Angie from NAMED sources that speak of how humble and kind they are. I remember crew stories fr TAOJJBTCRF how Angie & the kids would eat with the crew while Brad was working. There several set pictures from MAMS of both Brad & Angie hanging out with the crew. They and their kids are always polite when out to shop or eat

  • JP Fan

Hey Rose this is what your stalker Joe said on the hen thread
“BTW, it’s hilarious to see those stupid girls saying that a woman can’t got pregnant after 40, I know LOTS OF WOMEN who had children after 40,50 and 60 years, this “after 40 you can’t be pregnant” is doctor’s B.u.l.l.s.h.i.t to make women have afraid of it.
Lots of young girls born sterile and keeps this way until their death, not to mention the ones who dies giving birth. This has nothing to do with age, go back to school and learn something!”

BWHAHAHA really Joe knows lots of women who have had babies at 60? and this is the guy that attacks you about getting an education and his dumbasss is saying that it’s a myth that its hard to get pregnant in your 40s, 50s, and 60s. So the statistics showing that only 1% of women at the age of 43 are able to give birth are all lies. omg so Im guessing that Joe knows lots of people on this list then
including the ones born in 1897 LMAO

  • cute

Those over 40 pregnancies are even rarer for women who have never carried to term successfully. I remember attending a wedding where the 42 yr old mother of the bride (who was 22) was holding her 1 year old baby! There were a total of 10 kids in the family, 2 of which were adopted- family full of love.

  • an opinion

@JP Fan: They have the nerve to call us loons. Ticky does not want a baby.Maybe Squiggy does. Ticky will do anything to keep him. But not carry a baby. So the only way a baby will be there is if someone else carries it. But for now these stories are part of her plant and deny rotation. Pregnant, marriage then movie role. Of course she does not deny the movie roles. They can never happen. Hasn’t she has aged out of Goree Girls.

Yes, the odds are much better (but still low) of getting pregnant post 40 if you have already had kids- HOWEVER, the risk to birth defects is still increased because the eggs are that much older. OK- here’s a tweet I agree with!
Jhenene ‏@jhenene I will say it again Brad Pitt should’ve got that oscar for #Moneyball he’s just …..such a GREAT FILM!!!!!

  • JP Fan

if you ever go on a ticky is pregnant thread on gossip sites i can’t tell you how many times hens say “I know lots of people who have gotten pregnant over 40″ they will then proceed to tell stories about how their mothers, grandmothers, aunts and cousins and friends got pregnant NATURALLY(they are sure to add that part) after 40. Well Joe here says he knows many women who have gotten pregnant at 60 even though the chances of that happening is so rare that it would make headlines.

  • William Bradley& The Jolie

Hello Folks. Just popped in for a minute. Curious. Does anyone know if any of these media outlets have contacted Lane about these bogus rings ( we know Procop is creating them)? Does anyone else find it curious that Lane has not denied this story?

    Just wondering.

  • Rose

@JP Fan: Hi JP fan, Joe/Josephine is a fool. Do you know lots of women in their 40, 50 or 60 getting pregnant? I don’t. Whenever that creep mentions my name in her/his comments all I can think of is this dirty looking creep with filthy clothing needing a shower with his glasses taped up with scotch tape, falling off his face. Now he just gave himself away with his asinine comment about a subject he/she has no idea of what it is talking about.
Btw, what happened to Ticky’s nose in that photo on the first page? Girl nose looks like it got bigger, and what’s with the scarf covering the chin? Looks like another chin job for the wedding, lol.

Did you see the photos of Demi M recently on the DM? Something is not right with that woman. Can you imagine DM at SS home last week, all those drunk Bs pretending they are 20 years old. That’s must have been a riot at that engagement party. No wonder Brad ran from those Bs and never looked back.

  • JP Fan

Demi looks and acts desperate. Aston and Mila make a beautiful couple. When was the last time Demi acted in a movie, what a hot mess., no wonder her and ticky are good friends.

  • Rose

@William Bradley& The Jolie:#268, Hi WB&TJ I don’t believe Lane is going to come out and anything. If he’s asked, then he would deny. If people believes he is making BA wedding bands it’s more business for him. We know Brad is designing the bands and R Procop is making them.

Angie is so full of sweetness and light- no wonder Brad loves her so! I think I may have to re-watch Moneyball again today…btw, how many of these middle-aged/old lady pregnancies are FIRST TIME pregnancies? Yeah, not many at all.

  • JP Fan

If tampom posted something inappropriate about the children then Jared needs to hand his IP over to authorities. The man has been weirdly obsessed with Brad and his family to the point of posting all the time and even late on weekends.

  • Rose

@JP Fan:#270, The thing I don’t understand is, DM is 50 years old and her daughters are acting more mature than she is acting. I just wished I was a fly on the wall at SS engagement party and see how desperate those Bs were acting. One grinding and clinging onto men and dancing to the music in her head, The other one flipping her hair and hiding her face while squeezing the daylight out if the guests to pretend she is so cool. JT running for cover in the bathroom drunk dialing Heidi B, and the rest must have been drunk as a skunk trying to get through the evening, lol.

  • JP Fan

lol i think the funniest thing I ever read from a hen was that it would be harder for Angie to conceive again because she is over 35 and skinny lmao, um Angie could probably get pregnant just by missing taking the pill one day.

  • busted

I don’t think that was an engagement party. I read a few comments saying it was that tree trimming thing she does. Same thing over and over. Never anything new.

look for a leak of her and Squiggy’s Christmas card. She is like clock work.

anyway going to see KTS again. I’m sure I missed a lot of things. But Brad was amazing. Really another great performance.

    Rose @ 12/08/2012 at 11:30 am
See that’s what happens to folks when they believe the media hype. Remember when she came back and was in Charlie’s Angel and the media hype was all about her “amazing” body, then she hooked up with a younger guy and this became the “new feminism” Older women bagging younger men. That’s all her life was about. Then he embarrassed her and left, and now she just looks like a desperate old fool.

  • Rose

@JP Fan:#273, Hi JP fan, you know that pos always say inappropriate things every day about Brad and Angie and their fans. But yesterday I mentioned that Knox was really a beautiful child. That set off that subhuman POS to sexualize Knox, Shi, and their parents. I was so angry I saw stars. thank God JJ took down his comment because I don’t want to think about that scum bag.

  • Rose

@busted: You know she must be so busy trying to find out when is BA wedding so she can come out with something big. Something like she is having triplets, I just cracked my self up, lol.

JP Fan- yes- it’s ridiculous. If “too skinny” precluded pregnancy, how are all those babies being born in developing countries for so many years? Alas, facts don’t don’t phase the trolls. All babies are beautiful, but , yes, Knox is certainly striking- he looks like one of those cherubs from a Renaissance painting!

  • Rose

@Tweet: Tweet, if anyone would like to see what I said about Knox to send that troll off his rocker, see page 8, # 194.

You are 100% correct about Angie as colleagues from UNHCR Geneva can vouch for it. Also, there are other staff members who are jealous of her for her good work. In UNICEF it is only Mia Farrow who does quite a lot of work as others are only in name. Angelina is the best.

    Killing Time Lamely—Brad Pitt’s Anti-Capitalist Mess
    December 7, 2012
    By Bruce Edward Walker

Your humble writer’s parents used to employ the phrase, “the height of laziness,” whenever they perceived sloppy execution of household tasks, farm chores, or homework. If either of them had taken up criticism as a vocation, they would’ve applied that phrase to Killing Them Softly, a Brad Pitt vehicle abounding with artistic laziness.

A film noir of sorts, Killing Them Softly attempts an analogy between the bad actors responsible for the 2008 financial meltdown and criminals of every rank and social standing in a film containing no moral center – a point that would’ve been interesting to entertain were it not for the simplistic fashion of playing period TV and radio broadcasts in the background and strategically placing Obama v. McCain campaign billboards in key scenes.

What’s left is a mush that leaves the viewer wondering which criminal strata represents which specific accessory to what amounted to a pretty nasty recession. The end result is a false equation of criminal behavior with capitalism lacking any context in which to identify the analogous culprits.

Instead, viewers are treated to bumbling, low-life junkies; suit-and-tie gangsters; gold chain-wearing gamblers; prostitutes and the alcoholic, self-loathing misogynists who hire them; and the hit men who’ll whack all of the above for the special recession take-it-or-leave-it rate of $10,000.

These criminals, viewers are led to surmise, ain’t got nuthin’ on dem der vulture capitalists.

“America is a business,” cynically states Pitt’s Jackie Cogan, but the audience is left with nothing much to go on but the character’s say-so. The filmmakers’ attempted point is lost in this mad jumble of a movie simply because that point isn’t fully integrated into the plot.

What’s left is a Tarantino-esque criminal omnibus with witty, foul-mouthed gunsels who exhibit no honor toward their own criminal kind, depicted by actors who have all made considerable bank by playing the same characters again and again.

Yes, it’s true James Cagney, George Raft, Humphrey Bogart, Elisha Cook, Jr., and Edward G Robinson did much the same thing back in the old studio-contract days – but this critic wishes the director of Killing Them Softly had exerted a bit more initiative before casting James Gandolfini as a slight variation of the same character he portrayed so winningly onThe Sopranos. Worse, the director allows Gandolfini to utter the same catchphrase, “Whatcha gonna do,” he employed on the HBO series, before pushing the character, New York Mickey, into the ether, rendering his screen appearance pointless in the movie’s overall scheme.

The same can be said for Vincent Curatola – The Sopranos‘ Johnny “Sacks” Sacramoni – who portrays Johnny “The Squirrel” Amato much like the character he played on The Sopranos – albeit without Sacks’ expensive suits and wife with an eating disorder. Likewise, Ray Liotta reprises his Goodfellas‘ role as the type of guy who’ll orchestrate the robbery of a high-stakes . game he runs. Been there, done that, Ray.

This leads us to the de rigueur use and sale of narcotics in Killing Me Softly, which has been done to death in the 20 years since Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. Worse, director and screenwriter Andrew Dominik cops out on the nodding-out-on-smack scene by musically punctuating it with the opening bars of – you guessed it—The Velvet Underground’s “Heroin.” Boy, that Dominik guy sure is clever.

The remainder of the film’s soundtrack is equally lazy. If Dominik aims for unearned coolness by adding The Velvet Underground and Nico to the musical mix, he doubles-down with “The Man Comes Around” by Johnny Cash, who has recently become a too-easy imprimatur of coolness for gritty dramas; Petula Clark’s version of the old Thomas Crown Affair chestnut “Windmills of Your Mind,” and Ketty Lester’s “Love Letters,” which was used far more effectively in David Lynch’s Blue Velvet.

In an interview, Dominik attempts to make the case Killing Them Softly is a comedy. While it may generate a few laughs, they are few and far between in the two screenings your writer witnessed. Filmgoers with a hankering for criminal humor would be better advised to Netflix Brother Orchid, Get Shorty or, of course, Pulp Fiction.

Softly is a lazy pastiche of political and economic allegory, casting, soundtrack selections, screenwriting, and humor.

David Fincher was so right. Fight Club was hated at the time. Now it becomes one of the best movies in past two decades. I think KTS will be becoming a cult classic like Fight Club.

Yes, Angie was TREMENDOUS in A Mighty Heart. Also, she did one of my fav interviews while promoting it:- besides the movie, she talks about meeting Mariann, elephants at MJP, and Shi being a little honey!

Angelina Jolie receives a 2007 Golden Globe nomination for her performance in A Mighty Heart. Ang was nominated for the category “Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama”.

Boo hoo, I’m so sad because my comments got removed. Poor loons, such a thin skin, crybabies whining to the mods. I though “ignore and thumb down” was doing the job, but you loons can’t resist reading our hidden comments.

Isn’t it funny how mods look the other way even when Rose called me a pedophile or when those loons slander Aniston and continue to accuse her of faking pregnancy stories?

Oh but hey, we’re not whiners nor are we doing celebrities free service of defending them in public opinion forums. Hey it’s there’s free speech in the country this blog is located at so if loons want censorship, mods better make sure to apply it evenly. I’m not going to waste my time flagging the loons and their aliases though. There’d be 250 comments left in a 1000 comment thread! LOL.

I’m still waiting to hear St. Angie speak out on her relationship to the Assads. Since loons claim to know so much about the Syrian conflict, all thanks to their goddess, then they probably know that Heroina and Pothead visited Basar al-Assad and his wife Asma in 2009 to discuss the situation of refugees from Irak and Palestine.

This is the woman that inspires you so much, loons; practicing her trademark sad face in front of another faceless refugee, but not so long ago, she was having dinner with those who are behind the armed conflict in that country and thus making these people flee their homes.

So what’s going on with them? Is she secretly supporting the Assad regime? Isn’t she an UN worker? Why aren’t the “international A+ superstars” using their “power” and “influence” to get through to the Assads? Is she proud or embarrassed of ever meeting them?

And loons think reporters ask her “tough questions”? How come nobody’s brought this up to her yet? Good thing she makes everybody sign those contracts before giving an interview. LMAO.

And since you loons live to praise and glorify this morally questionable couple and everything they do, you will also partake in the karma that will unfold upon them. Enjoy! :D

Famous Gambian and Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Mrs Fatou Bensouda, has recently joined forces with the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to fight gender and sexual based violence.

Mrs Bensouda joined UK Foreign Secretary William Hague in London to mark the ‘International Day of Women Human Rights Defenders’ and to support the UK Government’s initiative on ‘Preventing sexual violence in armed conflict’.

Mrs Fatou Bensouda and the International Criminal Court are working together with the British Government to prevent sexual violence in conflict situations by increasing the number of perpetrators brought to justice before international courts. The UK has also recently set up a team of experts who can deploy to conflict areas to work with the United Nations in investigating allegations of sexual violence. The UK has also increased its funding to the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict to support UN efforts to strengthen national capacity to investigative, prosecute perpetrators of sexual violence and to protect survivors and witnesses.

The initiative is being supported by UN Special Envoy Angelina Jolie as well as a number of charities and NGO’s including Amnesty international, Save the Children and Human Rights Watch.

Leave it to a loon to go OT and deflect by attacking JA, despite they always claiming that it’s “been 7 years”. It’s obvious who can’t drop the subject.

Trampolina’s career is dead so she only has refugees to exploit, and her own kids to pimp in order to stay relevant, and loons are bashing Aniston, who is actually a working actress, because she hasn’t made a second career out of famevvhoring and fauxmanitarian work to try to erase her drug and sex-fueled scandals from the public and media’s collective memory.

I know, Heroina and Pothead needed Aniston since 2005 to get ahead in their careers, and you loons know they are not relevant unless Aniston is part of the equation, but it’s time you let go of it.

I know you fear change because you’ll have nobody to blame for your idols’ shortcomings, but truth is, neither JA or Huvane have ever had anything to do with the drugs and booze, adultery, illegal adoptions, tax shelters, box office failures, the plagiarism lawsuit or anything else in your idols’ lives. Move on loons! :)

UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie does her best to brighten the spirits of a crowd of Syrian refugees on Thursday while visiting the Za’atri camp north of Amman, Jordan, where the actress remarked on the “incredible compassion” shown by Jordan’s government.

  • groundcontrol

I’m not sure which is more pathetic – trolls spewing lies and defamatory statements or trolls spamming the board under new IDs.

In either case poor little baby is beside itself at Jared’s refusal to tolerate its garbage.
How can one be so stupid to think someone in Jolie’s position wouldn’t talk to Assad about refugees at the time? That’s exactly who you would have gone to. The West and the rest of the world was very hopeful about Assad and at the time Jolie was asked by the UN to visit Assad about Syria’s then positive & helpful role in providing safe haven to refugees fleeing Iraq. International diplomacy and its quickly evolving realities are lost on the likes of mindless trolls with an agenda.
Naturally trolls miss the relevant question – what does Jolie and the rest of the world think of Assad now?
