Unfortunately, money won’t replace the mother and the wife she was. That story is so terrible and sad.

# 2

Sounds like they’re trying to avoid a lawsuit.

I’m so confused by all of this. Was the phone call actually what led to her suicide? Or just an unfortunate coincident?

@Journalistic:
We probably will never know if its just an unfortunate coincidence or directly related. Doubt the family could sue even if they wanted to for that reason.

This donation is just a PR gesture to ease the backlash. I feel sorry for everyone involved tho – both family and the DJ’s since I doubt the DJ’s would have predicted this outcome.

@Journalistic:
I read she left a suicide note. She was from a family and culture that takes shame very seriously. She felt she had shamed her family, her country and couldn’t live with it.

#5, some cultures do take the concept of shame very seriously. I agree that she felt she betrayed her family and her culture. What a sad thing to happen. Perhaps this will be a lesson for all those who think that pranks are harmless and who don’t stop to think what consequences it may bear on the victim of the prank. If this thought went through the minds of the two DJs, this wouldn’t have happened. People should just be more mindful of other people’s feelings and they should think before acting on their impulses. I hope something like this never happens again.

Nice try at dodging the lawsuit.

When I first heard this story, I hoped that no one at the hospital was fired over the prank. I don’t think anyone would have predicted the tragic turn this story took. Shocking and so very sad.

@TSquared: Where does it state it was due to cultural reasons? Stop assuming things, it’s ignorant to assume it’s because of “culture” just because she’s from a foreign country.

Oh come on! @ 12/11/2012 at 9:35 pm

Riiight! So let me understand this. The nurse couldn’t live with herself for putting through a phone call to another staff member. Without knowing it was a prank. But there is no shame in committing suicide when you have children that will live with this for the rest of their lives. Hmmm. Nope still doesn’t make sense. And on a side note, if the hospital authorities came down hard on this woman. They should think about just how important the whole situation was. I mean what was the big deal? The royal family are no more important than anyone else. And even Prince Charles himself joked with the Australian media about the prank. But that was before this woman committed suicide.
