Miley Cyrus shows off her toned tummy while performing onstage during the 2012 VH1 Divas at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (December 16) in Los Angeles.
The 20-year-old singer was introduced by reality star Nene Leakes before energizing the crowd with a rendition of Billy Idol‘s song “Rebel Yell.” Check out the performance below!

@Anne: punk is dead? what do you base this on? i just went to a punk show…pretty sure the genre isn’t dead. you’re so ignorant….not all musicians, though a girl who can learn a few dance moves and use auto tune isn’t really a musician, are in it for money. punk bands are in it for the message, for the love, for the fans.
Well i value my hearing to much to watch the video but i would like to say that i think Miley is heading down the wrong path.
This little act isn’t making you look edgy or raw Miley, you look stupid and I’m sure you will find you will regain a decent fan base when you aren’t trying so hard to drop the fans that made you the success you used to be.
I actually think her singing is getting a lot better. I loved that Lilac Wine rendition she did. Yeah, shoot me. I don’t care about her either way…so maybe that helps me be a little more objective about her talent….? Just a thought.

Miley lost any trace of cuteness long ago. This Pink-merged-with-Billy-Idol-look is not doing her any favors either. It’s so contrived and screams of trying too hard to be edgy, trying to hard to stand out, desperately needing attention and be talked about, it’s not a natural edgy with her, she is not naturally cool. All that wouldn’t matter so much if she could sing, but she can’t, she screeches or twangs her way through songs, her voice is awful.

I love this song, but couldn’t even watch the video half way through. Apparently, they couldn’t afford to have all the real Divas of the world there. The only ones i saw was Adam Lambert and Kelly Clarkson. There may have been a couple more, but Miley definitely wasn’t one of them. Horrible rendition.
She sounds like Dolly Parton singing Billy Idol, which is the problem. She needs to be more Pat Benatar, more Joan Jett. Get rid of the trill and stick to the alto range, minimalize flourishes except during the chorus (Note: Idol was pianissimo until the forte chorus).
Except for the death metal sirens, rock femmes tend to stick to mezzo-soprano / alto.
Adam Lambert successfully transitioned his voice from broadway musical to rock star, so it can be done.
Oh please all you high and mighty people. She has a very good voice, you can hear it on the high notes. Was the song the right choice? Maybe not, but she can sing. Plus, I think her edgy look is cute. It’s been done a million times before, but she’s a kid and she has every right to explore.
Am I a fan? No. Not one bit. But I’m not going to hate on someone just because they were a child singer/actress who was on a crappy but popular tv show.
Ok, Pink can pull this kind of look, outfit and song off, because she has the authentic attitude of a rebel punk rocker, plus she has an amazing voice. Miley is very obviously a poser and she doesn’t have the voice needed to sing a song like that.
