Ke$ha Releases Statement About 'Die Young' Lyrics, Retracts Tweet

Ke$ha has released a statement regarding the lyrics to her hit single “Die Young” in light of the recent school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

“After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was forced to sing some of the lyrics to Die Young. Forced is not the right word,” the 25-year-old singer wrote in regards to her tweet that she felt forced into singing the song.

“I did have some concerns about the phrase “die young” in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that’s one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song. But the point of the song is the importance of living every day to the fullest and staying young at heart, and these are things I truly believe,” Ke$ha concluded.

Earlier in the week, Ke$ha tweeted: “i understand. I had my very own issue with ‘die young’ for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO.” The tweet has since been deleted.

She really is a phony who will say anything that will forward her career, never owning anything, she initially tried to put blame on others and now she’s retracting, she’s like those phonies who only say sorry when they get caught and never from the heart! The song sucked anyway, not sure why they played it in the first place!

I think she’s awesome and haters gotta hate. She just made a verbal mistake, everyone does it. Cut her some slack! She’s sincere in her statement of sadness! How about rant about the tragic event rather than a mis-choice in words!
