Here’s the film synopsis: India Stoker (Wasikowska) was not prepared to lose her father and best friend Richard (Dermot Mulroney) in a tragic auto accident. The solitude of her woodsy family estate, the peace of her tranquil town, and the unspoken somberness of her home life are suddenly upended by not only this mysterious accident, but by the sudden arrival of her Uncle Charlie (Goode), whom she never knew existed. When Charlie moves in with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evie (Kidman), India thinks the void left by her father’s death is finally being filled by his closet bloodline. Soon after his arrival, India comes to suspect that this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives. Yet instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless young woman becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

Mark your calendars, Stoker is out in theaters on January 20, 2013!

    @Josh: a bitter Keith Urban fan who has been bashing Kidman since they started dating. There’s a few sick women who have been online doing nothing but hating on her and her marriage for years. It takes quite a warped mind to post things like Kidman bought her children, her marriage is one long pr stunt, and she’s a predator on boys cast in her films. These women troll the internet reading gossip and blogs looking dirt. It’s why that’s all you’ll see in their responses here.. They aren’t film buffs or knowledgeable industry folk. They are women devoted to hating Nicole Kidman. Ask them about the smear campaign against director Bigelow or The Master falllout and they wouldn’t have a clue because it has nothing to do with Kidman. The post that says some pretty pictures and comments about Cruise (who can’t buy an Oscar uf he tried) in an obscure magazine got Kidman nominations tells you exactly how low of an intellect level you’re dealing with here.

    @plain truth: Okay. I really thought they were scientologists. The vicious attacks, the repetitive lies, the ridiculous comments about subjects they obviously know nothing about. That’s what scientologists do against their ex-members and opponents. That’s called “Fair game”. L.Ron Hubbard, Scientology’s founder, said that his followers should, I quote, “always find or manufacture enough threat against their opponents to cause them to sue for peace. Don’t ever defend. Always attack.” He urged the use of “black propaganda” to “destroy reputation or public belief in persons”. That’s exactly what I see here. And since Kidman is an ex-member of the church of Scientology…

    I found a review of Stoker (from one of the Sundance Film Festival selectors) : “Visionary filmmaker Park Chan-Wook, whose Old Boy and Three…Extremes both played at the Sundance Film Festival in 2005, returns with another macabre story, one that marks his first venture into English-language cinema. Armed with an inspired script, a world-class cast, and a wickedly playful nature, he subverts audience expectations by employing delightful visual trickery and placing a magnet over the moral compass of the film, giving complex and sympathetic motivations for the characters’ violent actions. Featuring a gasp-inducing performance from Nicole Kidman, Stoker is a haunting, Hitchcockian tale as unsettling as it is stunning. – T. G.”

    @Not Even:
    lol. You tried sis, you really did

  • ..

    Josh … seriously, the only gasp-inducing performance Kidman will conjure in the B-Grade movie Stoker, is when the camera pans to her eerily cartoonish face.

  • Josh

    @..: You probably said that about The Paperboy too. And look, her performance was almost universally praised and she got a Screen Actors Guild award nomination and a Golden Globe nomination for it (and there’s Oscar buzz). And why do you say Stoker will be a B grade movie? It’s directed by Chan Wook Park and from the trailer, it looks great. You obviously haven’t seen his movies.

    @ Not Even. You are probably right, but for me Nicole Kidman is hard to beat, she fascinates the hell out of me, on screen and reading about her and her family. I don’t know exactly why but she does.
