Katie Holmes Talks 'Dead Accounts' Lines Flub

Katie Holmes flashes a smile while leaving the Music Box Theatre following the matinee performance of Dead Accounts on Saturday (December 22) in New York City.

Earlier in the week, the 34-year-old actress wore red hot pants while exiting the Ed Sullivan Theatre following an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman.

On the show, Katie talked about flubbing her lines one night in the show.

“A couple of weeks ago I had the moment that I’ve been dreading. Which was, I have this kind of big speech in the second act and it’s pretty important because it kind of goes along with the theme of the show. And I said the first line, and I’m looking at [co-star] Judy Greer and I’m supposed to be angry with her. And then the second line I didn’t remember. And I didn’t remember the third one. And I just looked at her like – [puts on a "horrified" face],” Katie said.

Katie is beautiful inside and out but the Nicole Kidman thing is not happening here, sorry.

Looking great. Wish her the best.

EWWWWW ………… Can’t believe she’s suppose to be a designer. A homeless person would have a better fashion sense than her.

@NYC: Don’t use Nicole’s name in the same sentence as her. she’s nothing compared to Nicole.

  • Unflattering picture

That’s mean to put such an unflattering picture of her in that bulky jacket with that hideous expression. She looks like Mr. Bean… now, I’m mean.

Just because Nicole won an Oscar 6 months after the divorce, does not mean that the same will happen to Katie. Nicole worked with Kubrick, Campion, Van Sant, Benton ecc. before divorced, Katie hasn’t a career like her. I think she is fine working on broadway, maybe in a few of year she can become a successful actress. Go Katie!

What did it drop to this week?
Oh well, we should know by Monday.
If I were a writer or director of a play I would be very leery of casting Katie Holmes to star in it , because you best believe the writing or directing will be blamed before the media will admit that she is a mediocre (at best) actress with a weak stage presence.
There’s a bigger Agenda and Katie Holmes fills the bill (you know those “mid-west values” and all); besides she is use to contracting herself out; whether it’s Tom Cruise/Scientology or the Anti-Scientology mission. Green is green.
Her time with Cruise was up anyway.
The next 4-6 months of Katie Holmes PR machine vs Tom Cruise/Scientology should be interesting.

She looks like a clown! She’s simply not a particularly good actress on small screen, big screen or stage. She’ll never be Nicole Kidman, Tom or no Tom. She’s a joke as a designer since she’s colorblind with no sense of form or elegance. Time to find a new career, Katie.

    @Dead Accounts Revenue:

Exactly! There IS such a thing as bad publicity. Hiring an incompetant actor who just happens to be getting a lot of publicity at the moment can REALLY backfire. )It can backfire even if the actor is good but has a bad name.) If the movie/play is a flop the entire cast, writer and director will get the blame, even if it’s really only 1 person ruining things. For example, Grant Bowler who played Burton in Liz and Dick was actually really good, but hardly any critic noticed.

  • Cat that ate the mouse

I can almost see the mouse’s tail hanging from her mouth –

Ahh, but wait, is that anxiety, I see? (thumb in fist) – – She seems to be photographed a lot doing this [many of the pics posted on JJ and other sites].

Well I am sure apologist will blame the cold but that can be debunked by pictures of her doing the same this past summer.

Flubbing lines and sleepless nights (according to her interviews) is understandable considering this is her last seat at the table[media/PR pawn].

Being a media/PR pawn is a precarious position to be in when you have no talent to speak of or to fall back on.

Keep your eye on the board Katie – “The isolated pawn casts gloom over the entire chessboard. “

I’m not a fan of her fashion sense. Those are hideous red pants.

  • Star Power

“,,,theater insiders buzzing about the longevity of the poorly reviewed “Dead Accounts,” starring Katie Holmes.”

“A Broadway source tells Confidenti@l that the play [Dead Accounts] made it to the Great White Way simply because Holmes agreed to star. Now its future rests entirely on her shoulders.“Katie is a curiosity. She is not a Broadway actress,” the source says. “But I don’t believe that anyone will pull the rug out on her. I don’t believe Katie’s team would stand for it.”

[Kathy Lee Gifford's play "Scandalous"] -The writing was on the wall Dec. 2, when the show had only grossed $370,243 for the week, which on Broadway, spells doom.

Hmmm, let’s see..DA grossed $337,545 the week ending 12/16 [down $99K from previous week) and had only a small margin above $370k the 3 weeks before (

It look's as though numbers won't be posted until after Christmas (previously numbers posted on Sunday), but it should be interesting to see how far the numbers have fallen.

If the article is correct "Katie’s team won't stand for it" may mean no matter how small the audience [ a few paid customers] the show will go on WITH Katie Holmes.

  • Devastated Katie

“Katie was devastated about the reviews because she’s always been so passionate about Broadway. It was her first love, well before she starred in Dawson’s Creek or any Hollywood movies. Appearing on Broadway was her childhood dream,” a source has told RadarOnline. [All those high school play performances in Ohio really made her think she could do it!]

“However, she’s adamant that she has to put it right. Katie will do anything to make sure the play’s seen as a success by the end of its run.” [Like signing autographs or taking pictures with fans waiting outside the stage exit/entrance door after a performance?]

It sounds like determined Katie is taking a hands-on role to ensure the production ends on a high: “She’s spoken to the writers and producers about possible ways to tweak and improve the production, while taking some of the critics’ words about her own performance on board.” [I'm sure the writers and producers really valued her input ]

“Katie doesn’t care if it means taking part in extra rehearsals because she’s determined to make it work,” the source added. [We should see how well she made it work tomorrow]
