'Les Miserables' & 'Django' Break Christmas Box Office Records

Moviegoers were out in full force on Christmas Day, giving two films, Les Miserables and Django Unchained, huge openings, breaking box office records!

Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman‘s Les Miserables, which brought in $18.2 million, placing number one, scored the top opening day for a musical, as well as the biggest weekday Christmas Day opening of all time, according to THR!

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx‘s Django Unchained came in at number two with $15 million, nabbed the honor of top R-rated Christmas Day opening of a film.

Coming in at number three was this past weekend’s number one, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which raked in $11.3 million.

Rounding out the top five were Parental Guidance and Jack Reacher, which earned $6.4 million and $5.3 million, respectively.

I saw Django! Maybe because I’m biased but I Leo was the best part! It was a nice movie, I normally don’t like Tarantino’s movies but this was nicely done. Jamie was great, I wish it were shorter, 3 hours is a little too long

I went to the movies on Christmas and both films were sold out everywhere. Had to go to battery park city to catch Django before it sold out. Interesting movie.

Grow up with your stupid moniker already. (rolls eyes) You’ve had the same re-tarded, petty name for years. It’s time to let it go. I’ve long felt that you’re the fug one, not her.

@8: nah I dont give a **** about Anniston, only that between her and Angie Jolie I’m team Angelina all the way. But Manniston doesnt seem all that bad in real life, she just plays insecure girly girls that irritate me.

I’m glad Leo’s movie didnt flop but I hope Leo does. He needs something like a busted aorta or a drug bust to wake him up out of his coma. If he calls himself “dating” Miranda Kerr now he is going to get some baaaaad PR in a hurry…right before the Oscars too so I guess he will wait again.

I’m glad Les Miserables beat Django. Shows people do have taste. Django got all the leftovers from Les Mis sold out shows LOL. It’s not a success just because it had one good day. Time is a ticking. We’ll see how it does.
