Don’t know if she’s fishing for compliments or if she just really lacks confidence, but from everything I’ve read, she is phenomenal in that movie.

love her mittens

At least her naked crotch is covered up this time.

She’s being modest. Her performance was breathtakingly beautiful! Not a single dry eye in the house. Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Eddie Redmayne, and Samantha Barks were all superb!

Amanda Seyfried, gave a great effort!

As for Russell Crowe, YIKES!

I think she should probably be banned from giving any more interviews. It’s just too much. You’re obviously winning. No need to campaign any more.

As an actor myself, we all are our own worst critic. She probably wanted to do it the best way she can, and after twenty takes she still wasn’t satisfied. Even though the audience loved it, herself as an actress may think her best wasn’t good enough. It’s not that she lacks confidence, it’s just she wanted to give it her all.

That being said, the final take used in the movie was sheer brilliance. Anne may think it’s “eh” – but “eh” will get her an Oscar nom fo shizzle!

From everything I’ve read and heard about the movie, “eh” is enormously underselling her own performance. I have always liked her as an actress, and this sounds like her best performance to date. I can’t wait to see the movie!

Eh means.. to an actor I can always do better.. there is always room for improvement in any character.

My nose also gets as red as hers in the cold lol

There are a lot of problems with the movie other than just her performance which was okay, not great, and not Oscar-buzz worthy. I’ll give her credit for her interpretation of the role as compared to every stage performance I’ve seen in which Fantine’s show-stopper number soars. The halting, tight frame shooting, I believe, is the fault of the director, Tom Hooper, which results in a distracting movie experience that I would compare to someone trying to drive a stick-shift for the first time. Another problem is that the movie makers went for big names with marginal voices–probably to get the box office dollars, of course–which resulted in Russell Crowe being the biggest sore thumb in the bunch. The bright spot in all this is that Hugh Jackman’s performance is Oscar buzz-worthy. His singing, I was surprised to find, was inspirational and compelling, a tour de force, as they like to say. The bottom line is I’ll take the stage production any day over this stick-shift of a movie.

She is annoying and looking for compliments
Shut up Anne
Thy movie is severely overrated!!

I don’t know why you white women hate her so much… but love actresses like Emma Watson and Elle Fanning. She’s a great actress and doesn’t look like she’s half dead. Leave her alone.

She is great in the movie, but it seems like she is just looking for praise from everyone.

She is sooooooo ANNOYING. And NO I will NOT be seeing the movie. She is way to over rated as an actress.

I have to say Eddie Redmayne and Anne Hathaway took the other veteran actors in this movie to school … they were just so intense and breathtaking. I’m not saying the others were bad it’s just that Redmayne and Hathaway were so good.

I’m sickk of hearing her talk about it all the time, I’m seriously sick of the movie and haven’t even watched it. Thanks anne for ruinning the movie for me. You’re so annoying

@Lolita: A lot of people are just jealous. Period.

Hugh Jackman was overrated. His performance to me was, meh. I felt the same about Anne Hathaway and I adore her. Eddie Redmayne made me want to stand up and cheer after he sang “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables.” Plus, Eddie was nice to look at. The real star of the movie, to me, was Aaron Tveit. He was AMAZING and his voice was so beautifully trained. I wish he would be getting more praise and attention.

Could she be any less gracious? Ugh. Everyone is turning flips for her great, although over wrought performance and she has to say something like “Eh.” Shut up…and now I hope you lose the Oscar. This may be worse then Natalie Portman pretending she became a prima ballerina in 1 year.

ENOUGH of her pathetic pandering for that almighty Oscar nod..Give her that nod and then maybe she will stop being so annoying. She’s so obvious that she is fishing for a Golden Globe or Oscar. It’s embarrassing.
