The year started off for Angelina Jolie with promoting her directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey around the world. When she went to the Oscars in February, she made headlines for her leg-baring dress and pose on the red carpet. Then in April it was confirmed that Angie and her longtime love Brad Pitt got engaged! Throughout the year, Angelina also filmed her highly anticipated movie Maleficent, did loads of charity work around the world, and spent lots of quality time with her lovely family.

It was the year of the engagement and the haircut for Miley Cyrus! First came the exciting news back in June that she was engaged to her beau Liam Hemsworth. Then later in the summer, Miley let her hairdresser chop off all her pretty locks to make way for an edgier blonde look. As the year went on, the hairdo got shorter and shorter!

3. Whitney Houston
2012 marked the shocking death of Whitney Houston on the weekend of the 2012 Grammy Awards. The legendary singer was found dead in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel just hours before she was expected to attend her mentor Clive Davis‘ annual party. In the days that followed, the world remembered the singer with a special performance from Jennifer Hudson at the Grammys and via her worldwide televised funeral, which featured eulogy from many people who played a significant role in Whitney‘s career.

2. Kristen Stewart
This year marked the end of the Twilight Saga for Kristen Stewart, but the end of the film franchise was overshadowed by the scandal surrounding her cheating on longtime boyfriend Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. Kristen eventually issued an apology after photos leaked of her kissing the director. Scandal aside, Kristen was one of the year’s fashion stars, popping up on many red carpets to promote her various films and at award shows.

1. Prince Harry
It was a big year for Prince Harry, whose nude photo scandal was one of the most talked about stories of the year. The internet went abuzz back in August when photos of a nearly naked Harry popped up online during his vacation in Las Vegas. Harry‘s year was also marked by the constant pregnancy rumors surrounding his brother Prince William and his sister-in-law Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and finally the official confirmation that a royal baby is in on the way.
