Shakira's Baby Prank: Gerard Pique Birth Tweets a Hoax?

Shakira‘s beau Gerard Pique caused quite the stir when he tweeted that his love had given birth to a baby boy mere hours ago, however, it has been speculated that the whole announcement has been a big prank based on Spain’s April Fools Day – the Day of Innocents.

“Ya ha nacido nuestro hijo! Estamos muy felices! Gracias a todos por vuestros mensajes!” Gerard wrote in his first tweet, which translates to: “Our son has been born! We are very happy! Thanks to all for your messages!”

Hours later, he wrote “Ya tiene nombre! Se llama Inocencio! Feliz Día de los Inocentes a todos!”, which translates to: “It has a name! His name is Innocent! Happy Day of the Innocents to all!”
