Sharon Osbourne Slams Lady Gaga in Open Letter

Sharon Osbourne has responded to the open letter Lady Gaga wrote about her daughter Kelly Osbourne and she is not happy!

The 60-year-old talk show host posted the letter on her Facebook account and condemns Gaga for being cruel to animals by wearing a meat dress and fur jackets.

“When I see you wearing fur, and using it as a fashion statement, the fact that defenseless animals have been killed so you can get your picture in the press is abhorrent to me. Shouldn’t you be teaching your “little monster” fans to respect animals and life?” Sharon wrote.

Sharon Osbourne’s Open Letter to Lady Gaga

Ms. Gaga,

I am responding to your open letter to my daughter Kelly, and I am perplexed as to why you would go public with an open letter. Regarding this current situation; Kelly didn’t contact you, I was the one that contacted your manager today and the email is attached below for your reference. I reached out to him as Kelly’s manager and mother to ask him if you could address your “little monster” fans and stop them from writing libelous, slanderous and vile comments about my family, including death threats to Kelly. Your open letter is hypocritical and full of contradictions. And as your mother Cynthia supports you, I support my daughter Kelly. I must say your opinions on what is politically correct and acceptable totally differ from mine, but that is what makes the world so interesting…we are all different. How sweet that you have empathy for my daughter, as you feel that she has taken a less passionate path in life. You say her work on E! with the Fashion Police is “rooted in criticism, judgment, and rating people’s beauty against one another.” Welcome to the real world. Example, when I saw you wear a dress made out of raw meat, I was sickened. When I see you wearing fur, and using it as a fashion statement, the fact that defenseless animals have been killed so you can get your picture in the press is abhorrent to me. Shouldn’t you be teaching your “little monster” fans to respect animals and life? I don’t feel I have to justify Kelly’s choices in life to you. By your actions to Kelly right now, you have shown me that you are nothing more than a publicly seeking hypocrite and an attention seeker. You know it would have been much more dignified of you to do this privately. I am calling you a bully because you have 32 million followers hanging on your every word and you are criticizing Kelly in your open letter. Are you so desperate that you needed to make this public?

You state “Everyday, through my music and public voice I choose to be positive and work towards a kinder and braver world with our community of followers.” Well this obviously is not translating well to your fans, as a large portion of them have not only been vile to Kelly, but also other celebrities such as Madonna, Adele and Rihanna. “You say a kinder, braver world” I don’t know what world you live in, but supporting disgraceful fan comments doesn’t fall under the words “kinder and braver.” It comes under the heading of bullshit.

In closing, stop wearing fur, stop looking for publicity, and stop using your fans to belittle not just Kelly but an endless stream of celebrities. A word from you would stop all the hideous, negative and vile threats from your “little monsters.” Let me know if you want to continue this debate. I’m an open playing field for you my darling.

Dear Vince,

You might recall that I wrote to you last year about Gaga's fans bullying Kelly which you never really responded to. Well, it's continuing again. I want you to read the blog below from a Lady Gaga fan.

Little Monster David @LilMonsterMaren
@MissKellyO LITTLE MONSTER ARTPOP : Kelly Osbourne needs to kill herself …

I thought that Gaga was a main campaigner against bullying.

Vince, I’m leaving it in your hands to do the right thing here. One tweet from Gaga can change this whole situation. I’m not asking her to deal with this directly but she if she could tweet something to her fans about being more respectful that may end this. I’m sure she doesn’t condone her fans saying such hideously offensive things.

Wishing you and your family the best in 2013.

All the best,

I would like to say that it really makes me sad that people often critizes the whole fanbase of Lady Gaga. If Kelly was bullied by MOST of the little monsters.. well.. believe me, there would be A LOT OF shit in there because there are so many fans. And I’d assume that Kelly has been bullied by.. 30 of them? I’m a little monster and I don’t support bullying. I know that few of us fans are quite assholes and they are saying nasty things about everyone except Gaga. But still! The major part of this fanbase are actually nice, loving & caring. In Gaga’s site there is some bullying like people insulting Madonna etc. But everytime they receive some criticism from other monsters and they ask these bullies to stop. So no, I would say that not all of the little monsters are bullies. I find it quite weird that Gaga wrote this letter but I am also quite shocked that Sharon was so rude in her letter.. Well, she is her mother and Kelly was clearly upset. I want to apologize if our fanbase has been rude towards you, but those monsters are not real. They are making fools of themselves and we shouldn’t pay attention towards them. I apologize for my bad english, but I’m from Finland so.. yeah. If you actually read this, I’m happy. Thank you.

  • Toiu

Kelly is on team Madonna. That’s why she hates on Gaga. Kelly is always kissing Madonna’s äss on Fashion Police.

  • melissa

I’m with Gaga. I love animals, and I am COMPLETELY against people wearing fur but we arent discussing that. Kelly Osbourne hated and cried when people made fun of her weight and now she’s doing it? Come on. I’m not overweight but my mom is and I’ve seen people in stores, out in the public, say “She’s fat” and it disgusts me. You should never make fun of someone but ESPECIALLY if you went thru the same thing.

  • laura

Sharon is the most immature of them all! And she should be a 60something mature woman…

  • Ronnie

These two are acting like babies. This is beef is so teeny bopper.First off Sharon who are you to say that Lady Gaga is responsible for her fans actions? You of all people should know that artist are not responsible for their fans actions. That is why your husband was acquitted for charges that he was responsible for a fan to commit suicide because of his music.(Suicide Solution) If your daughter is being criticized the you too “welcome to the real world” she’s got to suck it up just like all the other celebrities and us non famous people do. Like Eleanor Roosevelt once said “No one can bring you down without your consent” As for Lady Gaga this wasn’t worth writing an open letter for. I agree with Sharon it should of been done in private. You should of known that writing an open letter like this was going open up a can of worms. In life you got to learn to pick your battles and this battle was not worth it. Both of you are grown women you need to act like it.

This lady thinks she knows Gaga. honestly she knows nothing. first of all she wore the meat dress as a symbolically way of representing the way other people sees the “inferior” and for your information she does not wear animal fur.. it fake. its funny because to be honest i had no idea of who you were, but just like Madonna calvin harris and die antwoord you are obviously using gaga to get fame. Its totally understandable though… why not attack the biggest start of this generation. btw i love your daughter. and trust me not all little monsters are bad, and the ones that are bad.. well you only have YOURSELVES to blame. after years of being bullied and being criticizing thats what society gets… you are what you preach its true. you should be involved in this since kelly and gaga are old enough to handle their shit. try selling cup cakes or something, maybe youll get your 5 mins of fame. STOP ATTACKING GAGA. you know your own daughter. its getting really old how everyone says US little monsters are bad and blah blah.. those free of sin throw the first rock. I AM A LITTLE MONSTER and i can assure i have never talked shit about ADELE for being fat. cant say the same about other artist because they simply arent like adele. never has adele said anything bad about gaga… madonna has.

  • carly T

Who does Kelly Osbourne thinks she is? She started this whole thing. When did she become some big fashion expert? Of yeah, she IS NOT! She has been hanging around too much with that mean old hag Joan Rivers!

  • Literature

I find Sharon’s actions both last year and this year on this matter to be hypocritical. Kelly is an avid participant on a show that exists to provide criticism on the fashion sense and often body image issues of actors, actresses, singers and the like. And the comedic relief provided by the shows leader Joan Rivers, and Kelly’s reactions, laughing, appearing to be shocked in a tee hee hee kind of way, deserve to be scrutinized. Kelly in doing her job fires shots every week at various entertainers for their fashion choices, including comments on what they should have worn based on their ampleness or lack their of on certain areas of their bodies. Her comments about Gaga’s weight gain, even suggesting she might be pregnant are ones for which she should apologize. In fairness, when you are out front and center criticizing others on a show that makes fun of celebrities, why wouldn’t you expect that you would also be on the receiving end of fan backlash? Sharon Osbourne, as a mother, your mothering should start at home. Ask your daughter to apologize for her comments on Gaga and maybe Gaga’s fans will calm down. Furthermore, maybe you should stay out of it and spend your time coaching your adult daughter on how to handle these situations. Some may say, you are indeed being a bullying yourself by going to Gaga’s manager and making your comments public. Hypocrite!

im sorry but didn’t kely osbourne call Christina Aguilera fat on fashion police, the osbourne are full of hypocrites. Sharon is the last person to be calling anyone a bully.

the way you respond is a bully way stop being hate is you dont agree what she say just shut up
and i love gagq but some littlemonters need to stop be so rude to other people
gaga say no bully and you guys do that all the time

I am a loyal Lady Gaga fan. She has changed my life and helps me love myself more and more which has also helped me love even my enemies. I agree that Little Monsters can be very defensive/protective when it comes to Gaga because of the liberation she can give us. I believe some of us act out because we don’t want her to loose her gift and we go back to being suppressed by what ever we feel disenfranchised from. She’s just trying to change the world one sequin at a time.

  • OH COME ON!!

I’m not into Gaga but is there ANYONE whom Sharon or her daughter arent fighting or mad at? They’re like ELTON JOHN!

    Good one Sharon

Sharon has NERVE to say that Gaga’s fans have been rude to Madonna when back in 2006, Sharon called Madonna everything under the sun that I won’t even bother to repeat here (do a Google search)! Wow, this woman is deluded!

  • Kellie

Sharon Osborne is always fighting with somebody. She is 60 years old, and she acts like she is 14.
I wish she had kept her nasty @ss in England, we don’t want her here in America.

Sharon is a nasty@ss conceited b!tch. Always has been.

  • an opinion

Love Sharon. Gaga speaks out of both sides of her mouth. She wants others to live by standards but when others ask her to live by them she laughs it off and reminds people she is famous and rich. I can wear fur because it makes me happy. So arrogant.

GAGA The GREAT !! This all started with Kelly Osborne opening her mouth saying Gaga’s Fans are the worst because she was getting slammed by them. Gaga and her mother wrote an opened letter to Kelly saying she should have privately spoken to Gaga. Lady Gaga also wrote in her letter other truthful things saying the show Fashion police which Kelly is on, treats celebritys like they are zoo animals and makes fun of them while Kelly, Joan Rivers and the other hosts sit around and laugh. Now Kelly needs to hide behind Mommy because her rmouth got her into trouble. Why would you slam someone’s fans base. What do you expect to happen and especially from fans called the LITTLE MONSTERS. Gaga also said in that letter that she can not control her fans and they are their own people. To Kelly, IF YOU CAN’T TAKE THE HEAT, GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN. Mother Monster, I have your back on this one. Kelly Osborne has tortured Christina Aguilera. No one has said anything about this.

  • an opinion

Oh please Lady Gaga walks around wanting to be looked at like zoo animals. If she did not want the attention she would wear normal clothes like everyone else. People become famous because the want attention. People go on red carpets to be seen. They are given fashionable clothes so people will talk about them. If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Lady Gaga begs to looked out and when she does not like what is said she whines and gets some of her fans to be the bully.

  • hello777

Sharon is COMPLETELY right! lady gaga is the most hypocritical contradicting fame act out there. Her music does more damage than any little show on E! She supports the disgraceful acts of her fans. I too wondered why would whack gaga go public with this? She just wants to keep herself in the tabloids.

gaga is being the biggest bully by not addressing the nasty acts of her so called “fans”, and writing a letter disguised as something formal? it’s called bullying! even worst when you try to cover it up. I am glad sharon decided to defend her daughter from the leader of bullies.

  • hello777

the only people who can disagree with sharon are the pathetic gaga fans. get a dream! and stop living in a delusion with actress gaga. kelly osbourn is far more closer to leading her fans in a positive way than gaga. your name is stephani! stop acting!

  • Lauren

Seems like everyone’s pointing the finger and not willing to take responsibility of their own actions. Sure, Gaga could say something to her little monsters, but would it really make much of a difference? I don’t think so. You always see these fans of good, anti-bully celebs, saying the most horrible things. It is strange that they claim to be so inspired by people like Demi and Gaga, and then they turn around and tell people they’re ugly and to go die. Clearly they’re not actually taking much away from these idols of theirs, but I don’t see why that’s Gaga’s fault. She puts the positive messages out there, if her fans don’t truly receive them, it’s not her fault. She doesn’t have total control over these people, despite what you think, Sharon. And Sharon is saying Gaga is the hypocrite, but I actually agree with Gaga that it is Kelly who is the hypocrite for complaining about getting mean tweets, when her whole show is about sitting around and judging people/making fun of them. Simply for what they’re wearing, no less! I am disgusted by these fanatic fans who handle their anger or jealousy by sending people such unbelievably nasty tweets, but I have trouble feeling sympathy for someone who is just getting what they dish out on a regular basis. Kelly is basically a professional mean girl. Bottom line, treat people how you want to be treated, or else no one’s gonna feel sorry for you when you’re getting a taste of your own medicine. I am not a fan of any of these people, but I do believe that Lady Gaga does work to try and make the world a better place and try to make people feel better about themselves and stop bullying/judging each other. Whereas, with Kelly and Sharon, it seems apparent that they do they opposite. Both their shows are dedicated to judging other people. They’re both saying mean, hurtful things all the time. I also think Sharon saying that Lady Gaga is bullying Kelly with her letter is not only ridiculous, but offensive to people who are actually bullied. I think Sharon and Kelly are the only hypocrites here. They’re not willing to take responsibly for their own actions–they’re own faults. They’re just trying to point the finger at Gaga any way they can. The fact that Kelly called out Gaga in the first place is quite ridiculous. She is not responsible for other people’s actions and I don’t believe she has as much influence on her “little monsters” as the Osbournes believe. If she did, we wouldn’t be here right now. If you really believe people are who they are because of the celebs they look up to, well, I think you’re quite mistaken. Gaga is not the reason those people were capable of saying the things they did. I’m sure Gaga has lots of fans who were upset over the things Kelly said about her, and yet did not send her malicious tweets, simply because they know better. Not because of Gaga, but because of whoever and whatever actually made them the people they are today.

  • Nicole

Why is Sharon responding to Lady Gaga and not Kelly? Kelly is a grown woman. Why is her mother still fighting her battles? I like Kelly, but if you start it then you should finish it. Not your mommy!!!

@Lauren: Yes, you are right. GAGA CAN NOT CONTROL HER FANS AND ITS NOT HER FAULT. Kelly Osborne is an adult and knows the words that you speak may help the situation or hurt it. Backlash is coming and I feel it. Kelly and Sharon Osborne should have zipped their mouths in this one. YOU DO NOT MESS WITH GAGA OR HER FANS. They will not let you attack this woman. Christina Aguilera fans did not stick up for her, they let the Osbornes rip her apart. The little monsters will defend Gaga and it won’t be pretty either.

  • hello777

Her “fans” wouldn’t listen to empty words, after all, it takes actions to move others. Her fans are not going to budge in any positive direction when the person they follow doesn’t live by her own empty words. Her music encourages sexual immorality and confusion, and her fans follow…why? because those are her actions, not just words. And i get the feeling Sharon was trying to hint that in her letter. Gaga does not live by example, she is a trash act. She would do anything for the actions of her fans, which of her course include so much immoral things. Her fans don’t follow her, she follows her fans. And i am not generalizing here, I am specifically talking about her “little monsters”, not fans strictly of her music who aren’t influenced by her disgraceful acts.

She is a deceiver by playing wh@re on stage, and playing victim on a seat with a camera pointing at her. You can tweet, talk and act, but if you don’t do you might as well not speak at all. I am also not a devote fans to any of these women, but gagas hypocrisy can’t go unnoticed. At least kelly and sharon are trying to change and have indeed changed in a really positive way. unlike gaga who acted her way to fame.

  • Nicole

    Thank you!!! My thoughts exactly!!!

  • Jamie

So it’s alright to have plastic surgery and implants that were tested on animals in the name of beauty but don’t wear fur or be upfront about it, allrightythen, enjoy your denial cruise.

  • Melissa

Gaga is a bully and an incredibly heartless one at that. She discriminates which life forms are deserving of kind treatment. She makes this planet absolute hell and misery for animals. I litterally have not listened to her music in 2 years. Not because I am trying to make some stupid statement….but because she is so mean that hearing her makes me sick. She is so full of shit. So full of herself.

  • hello777

Defend your daughter Sharon. Don’t let anyone take away your right as a mother to defend your child.

  • sb

Regardless of this letter from Sharon, that does NOT make what Kelly did OK by no means. She bullies people for a living. Way to send a positive message. I’m with Gaga on this one.

to quote #20 “Am I the only one around here who sides with neither?”

Yip, I am with you; on neither side.

Celebrities, or schlebs, today are far too full of their own sense of self-importance, and the twitter/follower movement it quite idiotic. Power gone awry. The word ‘FAN’ comes from FANATIC. No human being is worth the kind of desperate adulation that hordes of sheep bow down to. Get a grip everyone; live your own lives; learn from your parents and teachers. Attention-seeking mediocre pop singers are not GODS. Fashion; ie the slavery to fashion is another cause of FANATICISM. At the root of it ALL is money … which is why they say “(the love of) money is the root of all evil”. And the sucker “followers” don’t realise how much they are being manipulated and don’t realise just how dumb they sound blindly defending their two-bit ‘leaders’.

I totally agree with you #73.

    @an opinion:

I totally agree with you! (not #73 as my post says).

actually, I do agree with you too :)

  • nemo

    Team Sharon!
Gaga is a hypocrite and an attention whore

  • hello777

@ANONYMOUSE: i agree, the idea of idolizing another human being is so sick. I am guilty of it too, but at least I admit it. celebs put a complete act, especially famous musicians who need to keep their act to please crazed fans.

  • flo

    SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not taking sides I like them both, but I’ve seen fashion police and it’s all in good fun what they say.

    @hello777: #82

1.Kelly is a ground @ss woman. Let her speak for herself.
    2. Sharon is too damn old to be fighting with everybody and acting like a 14 year old.
    3. If Kelly can’t take it, she is in the wrong business.
    4. Sharon is always publicly insulting people, so she has some damn nerve criticizing others.

  • hello777

    1. Kelly has a mother who can defend her. She has the free will to do so.
2.Sharon has a child, and her name is Kelly. She can defend her child. It doesn’t matter how old Kelly is, she will always be the daughter of Sharon.
    3. Kelly can take it, and in no way is showing signs of being broken down by gagas bullies/monsters.
    4. Regardless of what Sharon chooses to do, her open letter is addressing gagas hypocrisy and lack of interest to correct her vile disgusting monsters.
    5. The “fans” and viewers are the ones who make this “business” so negative. death threats? really? grow up.

  • fash ho

the funny thing is how many of you watch Fashion Police or love the worst dressed reviews in the magazines etc especially during award season, a large part of Gaga’s energy is catering to dressing for attention which I have no problem with but let us not all be hypocrites

these are people whose image is part of their job and it shows just because you have money and stylists and access to the best fashion designers in the world, still doesn’t mean you have style

  • Lana

Sharon made some good points actually.

  • fash ho

@VICTORIA: Actually I think Lady Gaga has shown time and time again she can defend herself EXTRAORDINARILY WELL. And if she is telling you fans, little monsters, to back off I would think you would take that to heart immediately, if you are a true fan and being honest about embracing positivity even in the face of negativity. If you need to go historical think MLK and Ghandi. Don’t reduce yourself to the level of those you claim are in the wrong.

  • orange

If gaga doesnt hold herself accountable then yoko ono will take away that peace award!

  • Zoe

Gaga’s totally right on this one. Her choices are weird no doubt and she could probably put in a word to her followers. But she herself has gone off shooting her mouth bitching others out, and it’s true she can’t control her fans/followers. Sharon refuses take responsibility for her one daughter’s nasty comments, and is actually expecting to Gaga to do something about 32 million??! I guess Kelly being totally devoid of any talent whatsoever does what she can best to make a living – being cruel, mocking and judgemental of others, others WAY more talented than herself.

  • PATA

Kelly is a grown woman now. Sharon should let her fight her on battles. Be QUIET mom!!

  • cmw

I hate how people feel like a fans behavior reflects the celebrities morals and actions. EVERY CELEBRITY HAS PSYCHOTIC FANS AND FOLLOWERS! Not every fan is going to practice what their idol preaches! Gaga can’t “control” her fans nor can she stop the hate. One tweet will NOT change it all. There will ALWAYS be hate. For example Madonna and Gagas fans have been feuding since ’08 and it hasn’t stopped yet. Gaga hasn’t addressed Madonna directly in public for ages but her fans still keep the fuel burning. It’s not Gagas fault that some of her fans are acting like morons. It’s their own sick obsession. I like both Gaga and Kelly and I hate to see them fight over something so petty. I don’t agree with wearing fur for fashion but I also don’t agree that Sharon has the right to tell Gaga what she should or shouldn’t wear. Gaga hasn’t pushed her views on fur on you so why are you pushing yours? Wearing fur is a personal choice and so is eating/wearing meat. It’s not a choice that I’d make but I wouldn’t go out of my way to tell Gaga “my opinion is right and yours is wrong”. This feud shouldn’t even exist tbh because there is honestly nothing to fight about. Death threats are one of the many things celebs will always encounter when in the public eye no matter who you are or what your status in the celebrity world is. They sadly cannot be stopped as long as there are obsessed and sick fans.

  • Christine

Kelly is SUCH a hypocrit. Gaga has actually spoken out against her fans comments about Adele, several times actually. What Sharon fails to mention is that Kelly regularly calls people fat: Christina Aguilera, Gaga, etc. Kelly said that Gaga looked pregnant, and then wonders why her fans would get upset. Kelly needs to be responsible for her own actions.
