Kris Allen Performs with Broken Wrist After Car Accident

Kris Allen hits the stage with a broken wrist to perform for his fans at the World Cafe on Friday (January 11) in Philadelphia, Penn.

The 27-year-old singer is back on tour just days after being in a New Year’s Day car accident.

“My wife and I were driving home. We were getting into a turning lane and this lady came out of nowhere and hit us head on. We were going about 25 miles an hour,” Kris said in a recent interview about the crash. “From the looks of the car, it could have been a lot worse. It kept us real safe. There were a lot of airbags.”

    Why does he make so many facial contortions when he sings … it’s so unattractive. I’ve never been able to make it all the way thru any video of him because I cannot stand the faces he makes when he sings. I wonder why no one tells him to STOP. Look at the picture above (bottom row, second from left). It’s absolutely AWFUL!!! Why does he want people to see him like that?

  • SG

    He’s absolutely adorable & may I say hot as f****, even with a cast! Don’t know how that is possible?! His tour started Jan 8 is giving us the chills, just watching his performances on YT are incredible, let alone reality! Just wish he recovers quickly. I am so worried about his arm & wrist, cause he jumps up & down & work the stage like crazy, even in pain he still give his 101% .. I just love him so much & wish him all the success Inte World!

  • SallyAnne

    LOSER!!! What kind of freaking loser tweets out a picture of himself during a car accident. Only time the midget gets press. He’s so dog ugly. Why does he make those weird faces all the time. He looks like a chimpanzee

  • Ellegirl

    He’s touring places like The Pickle Barrel, The Tractor House and The Dive. He can’t even fill a 100 person venue. His career has tanked. No label, lousy voice, and couldn’t fill a bathroom.

  • Rose

    lol glamberts, never change

    Kris is such a trooper. Out on tour a week after a head-on car crash, and 4 days after surgery. Sounding and looking great!

  • Richard Anthony

    Kris needed to tour four days after surgery because he needs the money. No label now, so he’s on his own. I can’t believe though that he nets very much from these shows … small crowds, cheap tickets, band members to pay, travel expenses. It’s like he’s doing the exact same thing he did before he went on Idol … playing in small clubs and dive bars. Too bad because he’s not untalented, he just has a very generic sound. His music is just not very good or very current sounding IMO.

  • DJ

    KRIS ALLEN = NO CAREER. BAD MUSIC = LOSER.

  • marie

    Nice to see some people holding a onto a grudge nearly FOUR years after Kris and Adam were on Idol. Move on, already!

    I was at this show in Philadelphia and the place was packed. They absolutely loved Kris. He sounded amazing and was dancing and bouncing all over the stage despite his broken wrist.

    And what does it matter what size venues he is playing? Less than 1% of the working musicians in this world are stars. Most musicians are doing exactly what Kris is doing, touring around the country playing smaller venues trying to build a fanbase. As long as they are able to support themselves doing this, and they love what they are doing, why do people feel the need to run them down or label them as failures? They are all far more successful than I’d be if I tried to go out on the road and perform music in front of people.

    Kris is a fantastic musician and person, and I had a great time at his show. He said he hopes to go back into the studio in March, so I’m excited about maybe getting more music from him in 2013.

  • Toni

    Kris Allen seems nice… But I havent heard much music from him since he won..

  • Tom
  • Jamie

    I was at the Philadelphia show. Yes, it was “packed”, but it was a very small venue. I would say 200 people at the most. So while “sold out” and “packed” sound great, let’s be realistic. Kris is playing in very small venues. A couple of hundred people consisting of mostly fans who travel from show to show isn’t going to expand his fan base. I sat next to someone who was seeing him for the third time since the Out Alive tour started. Good luck to him though.

  • http://211molly Molly

    @marie: Why is it assumed that just because there is a negative comment about Kris Allen, that it is an Adam Lambert fan?

  • krismicklin

    I love the small venues since the fans can get up close to see Kris perform his AWESOME and funny shows. Kris loves to perform and does not want to disappoint his fans. This tour was set up way before his car accident , yet he still wants to complete it even with a broken arm. He knows that many people have already made their travel arrangements and is so considerate of others. Do yourself a favor and go to one of his shows. You will not be disappointed.

  • e_dog

    Great photos! Looks like Kris cares about his fans regardless of their number. This is how real musicians build their following and Kris is real, talented musician.

  • ButthurtGlamberts

    Pssssssst Jared, did you know that Adam Lambert’s Label dropped him yesterday! Please prepare us a nice post about this! Poor thing, he’s already over 30, who will hire him now. Even broadway doesn’t hire that old!

  • LAMusic

    Toni, check out his latest album ‘Thank You Camellia’. You can buy it from iTunes or Amazon. Fabulous record.

    Jamie, I understand the venue holds 650 and you are saying it was packed and your guestimate is 200? Your even a few hundred low in comparison to another anti-Kris person who claims to have been there.

    I had the pleasure of seeing Kris Allen a year ago in LA and I was blown away as was the rest of the audience of mainly first timers. I’ve been watching youtubes from his shows since and he and his band are amazing. They give good show and it appears a unique experience each time they perform.

    I’m looking forward to seeing him again next month on the CA leg of the tour. He may not be able to play guitar and piano yet, but from what I’m seeing, that doesn’t detract from the experience.

    Lastly, I’ve seen some of the biggest names in music and always prefer when they did the smaller, more intimate venues. I’m appreciative that Kris is keeping ticket prices affordable so that college age and the working class can enjoy a night of great music.

  • michele

    Wow some of you people are really rude

  • Brianne

    @Molly: The same reason that when there’s a negative comment about Adam in his posts his fans blame Kris fans. It’s a sad, old fan war that some people can’t let go of.

  • Amanda

    Ok, some of the comments on here are ridiculous. I’m pretty sure Kris is doing just fine. He’s playing shows, yeah they’re smaller venues, but so? I was at the Boston show and their were tons of people there. It was a great concert. And, to that person that said Adam’s label dropped him? No, they didn’t. He parted ways with 19 Recordings, but is still with RCA and even if for some reason they do drop him or he decides to leave he will be fine. Both men are amazing talents and are clearly making a career out of making music. That’s extremely hard to do and I think they’re doing amazing jobs! Love them both! Stop with the hate, it’s ridiculous.

  • LonnieD

    Kris is a great guy and a talented musician. Who would’ve thought that a little post about him doing his shows with his wrist in a cast would bring out so many vultures! Kudos to you, Kris Allen. I’ll be at your show when you head my way.

  • Brenda

    Kris puts on a terrific show. He has a nice mix of his original music and some covers that he infuses with his own style. I’ve seen him several times and can’t wait for my show coming up in April. If you haven’t actually seen him perform live, give yourself a treat and see him up close at one of these shows. BTW his latest album Thank You Camellia is packed with great songs! Give it a listen. You may be pleasantly surprised. :)

  • Yendi

    Kris is so talented! Been following him since the very beginning and he always puts on an incredible show. Can’t wait to see the Out Alive Tour in just a few days!

  • liz

    Anytime someone wins a show as big as AI, bitter fans of other contestants always have to make negative comments. I guess that’s to be expected, but I agree that some of AL’s fans have surpassed all other fans in negativity. It is rather pathetic to continue to post comments on posts about a musician AFTER 4 YEARS, though! The reason people assume it’s AL fans is because they’ve so religiously & consistently made such comments on every post about Kris.

    Anyways, I’m impressed that Kris is performing so many shows & sets so soon after a bone-breaking accident & surgery. Congrats to him & to Katy about the baby!

  • Kristen

    @liz:

    Sorry, but it goes two ways. Kris’ fans are among the nastiest anywhere … worse than the Beliebers and the Little Monsters. They can say what they want about the “Glamberts” but they are far worse.

  • e_dog

    @Kristen:
    Glamberts just need to have a thicker skin, LOL

  • KellyLovee

    Why so much hate? Kris Allen is a very nice guy,really like his voice and style. And Kris and Adam got along very good,never undestood this nastiness between the fanbases…

  • Cherry

    Smaller venues yes but at least Kris already has gigs scheduled for the next six months and is performing in his own country! He is also going to be part of the SXSW MUSIC FESTIVAL lineup this March in Austin which is HUUUUUUUUGE.

    Adam can’t even get any gigs in the US. He has to go outside the country to get a job. And that leech gold-digging boyfriend of his —– Sauli Koskinen from Finland whose name is miraculously never misspelled in any tabloids or articles —– is putting him in the poor house and he needs the money where he can get it.

    The only Glamberts who will be able to see Adam in concert are the ones who don’t live in the US. Thank goodness for youtube eh?

    Because if it talks like a duck and walks like a duck….

  • Maureen

    @KellyLovee:

    I don’t understand all the nastiness either. The only thing these guys have in common is that they were on the same show. Otherwise, their careers are on completely different trajectories. I think it’s really a very, very small number from both fanbases who perpetuate the “nastiness”. I’m willing to bet that most fans of either guy don’t really care what the other one is doing. I’m sure there are a small number who are fans of both guys, but I do think it’s the tiny minority in both fan bases who make the most “noise”. What I don’t like is the broad generalizations made such as it’s the “butthurt Glamberts” or the Kris Allen fans are “nasty. That’s just not fair to either fanbase.

  • May

    Kris Allen is a wonderful musician that gives amazing shows, even while being in pain. I love his albums as well as the new songs that he performs and I can’t wait for his next album.

  • Nahyhr

    I have all of his albums. All of them. I just love him and ~wish I could see him live. Maybe he will come to europe some day. :3 Oh and I was sooo relieved when he posted that goofy picture after his accident. So I knew at least he was okay enough. This was so terrible I nearly cried. And I’m so happy for him and Katy for becoming parents. :D Kris will be a great dad!

  • anon

    Someone asked (who could probably be the same person posted the nasty comments) “How do we know they’re Glamberts?” We’ve been watching you comment on Kris Allen posts for almost 4 years, we can spot a bitter cray glambert comment from a mile away. Only the cray are unaware that their comments are obvious, while some of the sane glamberts either keep to themselves, like or even adore Kris.

    I saw Perez Hilton posted a misleading headline that said Adam Lambert got dropped from his label yesterday. Maybe the few of you are in full force to detract this from everyone from this by trolling and putting nasty things on Kris Allen.

  • RealFacts

    @SallyAnne:

    LOL! I see the glamberts are STILL not over what happened 4 years ago. It’s just pathetic really. Get over it Idiots.

    Anyways, Love Kris Allen! He’s so talented & way too underrated.

  • musicfan

    Allison Iraheta tweeted, “if i know Kris Allen, i know a few injuries wont stop him from doing what he loves!! to a speedy recovery!!” I still felt bad he toured while still in pain, but I know he loves playing live shows. Doesn’t matter how big or small the audience, he’d do it for the rest of his life. That’s a musician for ya.

  • liz

    Nope, Kirsten. Sorry, but glamberts show up with their nastiness on EVERY SINGLE POST about Kris. I also visit Adam posts, and I rarely see any bashing from Kris fans. All the Adam bashing I DO see eventually shows up on Kris posts after Adam fans have started the negativity. I’m fans of both guys & many, many others from AI, but AL fans have held on to the hate & nastiness longer than any. I always assume it’s only a small fraction of his fanbase, but they make all of us look bad.

    I was at the City Winery last night & the place was so packed you could barely move around. Out of the 5 acts who performed, two received standing O’s, including Kris Allen. He is a naturally strong performer & puts on a fantastic show. There were tables of fans for other performers all around me, and they were all asking questions about his music & said he was really good. Many went to buy his CD after the show at the merch table (the guy next to me went onto ITunes and bought it during the set). Kris is doing what he loves & making a living doing it, while spending an incredible amount of his time performing charitable acts. He is truly making a positive difference in this world!

  • Tay

    @j9bt: This is really great to know. Thanks for sharing. I love when people who didn’t really know his music suddenly discover him. I can’t wait for his performance in my town.

  • Nina

    @liz: I’m fans of both and I have to say Kris fans are the worst. Sorry but they are. Sometimes they get so nasty I almost stopped being a fan of Kris. But I decided not to let ugly fans stop me. I saw Kris at Brighton Hall in Boston. Ran into a couple of nice fans and some not so nice ones. I was going to go to the one in Vermont too but it was a bit of hike. Brighton Hall was a nice venue. Small but nice.

    I would guess that many artists have nasty fans. Unfortunately, those are the fans who tend to be the loudest on social media sites like JustJared, and end up giving the entire fanbase of those artists a bad name. I have seen some extremely nasty comments on articles written about many artists, including pretty much everyone who has come off American Idol. My question is why, if you do not like the artist, either musically or personally, are you even reading an article about that artist in the first place? Wouldn’t it be better to just focus on the artists you do like and want to support, rather than try and run down and make nasty comments about the artists you don’t like?

    Naive of me, I know, but really, I’m sick and tired of the nastiness towards these artists. They have done nothing to deserve this type of treatment. All they are doing is trying to make a living making something they love to do — and that they are very good at (and yes, these artists are all talented, even if you or I or whoever doesn’t personally enjoy his/her/their particular type of music).

  • http://211molly Molly

    @Patty: I agree with you 100%. It is just very frustrating to read all the rude comments.

  • Kate

    @nina I won’t go into how much I disagree with you. Doesn’t matter. But why do fans of other people show up on this post & make hateful comments? Seems so immature.

    Kris seems to have grown so much as a performer since he was on Amer. Idol, and he always had loads of musical talent. It has been fun to see his recent performances. Thanks for this post, JJ.

  • Lisa

    The Kris Allen fans talk about “butthurt” Glamberts, but head on over to MJs Big blog. That’s where all the “butthurt” Kris Allen fans gather. MJ herself is a huge butthurt Kris fan. Go into any thread about Adam Lambert and read all the negative posts by Kris Allen fans.

    Check out the thread about Adam ending his contract with 19R. It’s full of negative posts by the old lady Kris Allen fans who have their panties in a bunch because Adam still has a record deal.

  • Kate

    @Lisa:
    Did you read all the sadistic, hateful comments from the Glamberts about how glad they were that Kris & his wife were in an accident & they wished it could have been worse, etc.? So beyond hateful. Such immaturity over a reality show. I was once a big fan of Adam’s but his fans have really turned me off. They spread their negativity about other artists everywhere they show up.

  • Miss Kay

    I remain an Adam and a Kris fan. There are a lot of us.

    I prefer Adam but like Kris. No real Adam fan would post something hateful about Kris & Katy. Beware of troll posers.

    They bait the Kris fans posing as Adam fans, and vice versa.

    The swarm on Twitter and laugh in there virtual caves and holes.

    @ButthurtGlamberts:

    Adam’s record label didn’t “drop” him. The leach’s part of the contract ENDED, which still leaves Adam SIGNED with RCA.

    BTW, did you know that Adam’s already beginning the early stages of his 3rd album which will be on RCA by SONY MUSIC GROUP?

    RCA was NEVER owned by 19th Recordings, so get your facts straight.
