I love Jessica. Cheering for her, deserves all the awards.

I like her!!

She’s talented, yes, but her performance in Zero Dark Thirty is very overrated. She did nothing in the film but sit in an office and obsess over Osama. The men did all the interrogation, torture scenes, and catching Osama.

Luckiest woman on earth…she is engaged to Tom Hiddleston. Why can’t I be her???

ZDT was a good movie, not great as the critics say, IMO. Jessica was also good, not great, IMO. I think she overacted a bit and was too “purdy” for the role. However, she is great in other performances Tree of Life, Lawless, Take Shelter, the Help, but ZDT is not one of those performances.

I completely disagree with some of the comment here regarding Zero Dark Thirty. I was slightly apprehensive before I watched the film as I had read so many good reviews but it was phenomenal. I loved how it was so morally ambiguous & throughout it subverts how you saw the that the main characters straying away from any cliches.

I think that Jessica Chastain was utterly compelling – she is so subtle & understated that I think that people neglect to see the way in which her character develops. Watch how she flinches in the interrogation scenes in the very beginning – but by the end calmly directs a male colleague to punch a suspect in the face to get the information she requires. Just because she doesn’t have these huge emotional breakdowns doesn’t mean she is not acting. And the scene at the end where she is on the plane & the pilot asks her what next & she doesn’t say a word but stares down the camera lens is enough to win her the oscar alone.

ugh whatever.. of course she won for a film that depicts muslims in the worst possible way.

It’s not really surprising that homeland won awards, too.

I’m so tired of hearing ppl say Jessica’s performance in zdt was “overrated”. apparently they dont understand acting. some of her reaction shots were just moody acting, nobody here with her,she just do the acting alone with the camera. and she gave the reactions so precisely. Those are very strong parts of her amazing performance in zdt,you can see her acting skills were so incredible. And as an emotional kind lady,she physically and mentally transformed herself into the role of Maya,and because of her amazing performance of Maya,the many courses of changes of the character Maya were so natural and a-whole, to me it’s way better than JLaw in SLP. Not to mention when there are massive professional dry lines. She made those lines so easy to speak out.

Not only yelling and crying are good performances. Keira Knightley in Dangerous Methods,Leo DiCaprio in Django Unchained,they are not good performance,these are “showboat”.

@ash:

OMG I am so with you on this. I thought Jessica Chastain in ZDT was amazing. And I don’t get all the fuss about Jessica Lawrence in SLP. It was a sweet film but she just plays a character who is actually very similar to who she is in real life. And please don’t get me started on Keira Knightley who completely ruined Anna Karenina for me. She was acted off the screen by most of the supporting cast.

Jessica Chastain: I wore a horrible dress to the Golden Globes!
