  • Really?

Say something nice: Kate’s hair looks nice here.
What I really want to say: Kate’s face looks… different than it did a month or two ago.

  • InsertCoolNameHere

Not one teeth smile … it makes her look so closed up.

  • Force

Radha Mitchell looks like she was forced to crack a smile standing next to Bonesworth.

  • Lord

WOW looking at the other portrait session from the other sundance posts this one looks frosty!!! In other posts everyone in the cast looks happy.

I just see Kate being all smug and the others cant wait till its over.

    Q. was this movie filmed in 2011??

  • chelle

What in hell is she wearing?? She looks like death on a smug cracker and somewhat unclean.

  • chelle

@Lord: They do all look miserable except for that smug freak….Maybe it pissed them off that she was doing the boss?!?

    ….and so it begins!

  • Keiko

I’m now totally convinced she’s got fillers and botox. I wasn’t sure before and I wanted to give the girl benefit of the doubt, but now I know. That is the ONLY explanation for why she has that bizarre no-teeth smile glued on her face. Every single picture, the same. Like it’s glued on. No expression, no light in her eyes, just this impossibly smooth skin with a glued-on tight-lighted smile. That’s fillers and botox. Girl can’t smile because girl can’t move her face.

  • Keiko

    @Really?:

Yes, it’s called fillers and botox. No doubt about it.

  • ladybug

@Lord: Yes, this movie was filmed in 2011, April and May.

@chelle: well, this isn’t a bad look, it adds weight to her, her legs and chest area are covered, her hair looks good. Not sure about the dress pattern, though.
Though the smugness is more than a bit offputting.

Radha looks tired and not at all into this.

  • http://www.smastrendy.com Comprar ropa de marca

@Force: Agree… They have something behind the cameras

  • Jeannie

Her hair looks better. I like the dress style & colors, but I don’t really like the pattern. I’m kind of shocked she isn’t hanging all over the cast like she normally does when she poses next to other people.

  • ND

Okay, it seems like she makes a serious effort to be thin. But then most of her outfits are bulky or very loose-fitting. That makes sense to me for casual stuff but for a more formal appearance, it’s annoying. That’s why I don’t like this dress. I know Sundance is supposed to be more casual and it’s annoying when people go full-on red carpet but I wish there was belt and some slimmer fitting boots to go with this or something. Or just wear jeans and a nice fitted sweater, idk… And unfortunately, I have to agree about her face. It looks funky and frozen and, ironically, much OLDER than a 30-year-old.

  • Sersei

Her hair does actually look nice, and that dress is hideous. Radha looks so over it.

  • Eresyn

The cast’s faces, specially Radha, are priceless :D…and my grandma called, she wants her couch throw blanket, Kate has turned into a strange maternity type dress, back!!!
Funny how her weird posing has turned her feet into Hobbitt ones. They seem huge!!!

  • Jamie

    Bunk….she looks so bunk!

  • anita

who is more of a famewh*re kate or Minka kelly?

  • Fashionista

Kate looks stunnning. I love the dress, colors, fabric – I think it’s velvet. Really beautiful.

  • Really?

@Keiko: She deffinatly injected something into her top lip too. You can see how much it’s puffed out in the close-up 3/4 portrait (the next to last picture).

  • Reba

I think Kate chooses not to smile because she feels her face and cheeks make her look ‘fat’! I would bet she tries so hard to lose weight in her face but ends uo losin it every place else. It’s a shame because the rounder you face is the younger you loook! In her line of business you’d think she’d take advantage of that!

  • Glee

Kate and Radha look somewhat alike. They’re both beautiful. After studying the Beat Generation in my Lit class, I can’t wait for this movie.

  • ladybug

@Reba: You can tell she lost weight in her face, compared to when she was actually ‘naturally slender’, it’s more angular.

@Glee, I hope that you get to see Big Sur and that you enjoy it.

However, Radha Mitchell and Kate don’t look unlike, unless you’re defining ‘alike’ very broadly, in that they’re both female and have fake blond hair.

  • Reba

@ladybug: agreed. But I think she ‘believes’ her face is fat and so she goes to great lengths to keep her face from looking that way.

  • Suze

I’m kind of surprised that MP isn’t in the photos. Her hair looks good. She kind of ruined the look with those boots.

  • ladybug

@Suze: From the Popsugar link at the bottom of the page, he and KB had a photoshoot, but he also doesn’t seem to be in the interview shots, unless he was interviewed later. Rather odd, since it’s not as if we don’t know they’re a a couple. And it’s not as if there aren’t other Sundance photo shoots with the directors and the cast.

  • Belle

She is beautiful but way too thin.

  • Suze

@ladybug: Huh, I wonder if the didn’t want to participate? She looks a little plastic-y in some of those shots.

  • ladybug

@Fashionista: Serious question, how can you tell it’s velvet. It looks pretty lightweight and non-crushed to me. I usually associate velvet with heaviness and looked crushed in places.

@Suze, and apparently he did a separate interview:

    https://twitter.com/i/#!/katebosworth/media/slideshow?url=pic.twitter.com%2F12L92msM

And yes, she did look ‘off’ in some of those photos.

And don’t forget to check their twitter feeds for this:

1/23 Power-couple, and the director and star of Big Sur, @michael_polish @katebosworth respectively, are today’s Guest Tweeters. Look out for their updates from the film’s premiere tonight!

  • chelle

@ladybug: oh crap REALLY??? I think I threw up in my mouth a little…. usually on the twitter I just get drive heaves

  • Suze

@ladybug: I think I’m going to pass on the twitter thing haha! Power couple? Uh, I don’t think so.

  • Really?

The Twits sure are enjoying being able to bring their bad puns to the Sundance twitter feed: http://twitter.com/sundancefest

  • ladybug

@Really?: I tried to post that and got put in moderation.

They do love their crappy puns.

@Suze: What!? You don’t think they’re the next Brangelina? :)

  • Really?

@ladybug: The “heart of darkness” one bothers me the most. You’re comparing your little indy movie to Apocalypse Now? Really?

  • Keiko

    @Keiko:

My comment is “awaiting moderation” again. So stupid. It never passes this supposed “moderation”.

  • Eresyn

    @ladybug:
Omg you know what, she’s so delusional she’s probably convinced they’re the new Brangelina LMAO :D

  • Kerouac Fan

I don’t know who this is but it excites me!
    Joseph Beyer ‏@cinejoe
    There’s a gorgeous flow to @Michael_Polish and @KateBosworth’s guest tweets today from @sundancefest. Loved their film #BigSur, a cine-poem.

A cine-poem is exactly what Big Sur should be!!!!!

  • Butt kisser

    @Fashionista:

Your the idiot who also posts at the Fashion Spot and licks the ground Kate walks on. The “velvet” remark gave it away. How much is she paying you?

  • Fashionista

@Butt kisser: I don’t know what you’re referring to. I never commented about her dress being velvet at TFS. All you have to do is look at the dress to think it’s velvet. Ladybug posted something about it not being crushed but velvet doesn’t have to be crushed. Silk velvet which is what I think this dress is is a gorgeous fabric. You know, you’re kind of an a$$hole.

  • ladybug

@Fashionista: Well looking at samples of silk velvet online it still doesn’t look like that.

    http://www.syfabrics.com/Browse.aspx/Plush-Silk-Velvet-44–Wide/263

The pattern reminds me of the little art projects I had when I was very young, you take your paper, take all your crayons and fill in a area with all that color. Then cover with black crayon. And then using a coin or something, scrape off some of the black to let the color show through.
So basically she’s wearing my kindergarten art project.
But since JJ hasn’t bothered to let us know what designer she’s wearing, we don’t know what this is.

  • Fashionista

@ladybug: I said I THINK it’s velvet. I could be wrong. It looks like a fine silk velvet to me. I have no idea who the designer is but she wore Calvin Klein last night and if I had to guess, I’d say it’s Calvin Klein. Someone will ID it at some point.

  • Really?

@ladybug, @Fashionista: It does look like it might be a thin, tatty burn out velvet. But Ladybug is right, it doesn’t have the sheen that normal velvet has.

  • ladybug

    @Fashionista: Possible just silk:

Creative director Emma Hill also created silk dresses in vibrant, kaleidoscopic patterns worn underneath the season’s voluminous coats.

  • ladybug

@Really?: The “heart of darkness” one bothers me the most. You’re comparing your little indy movie to Apocalypse Now? Really?”

I was thinking Joseph Conrad, but either one isn’t really appropriate or accurate.

Sundance should have had this actor, Ato Essandoh, do the tweets, it would have been much more entertaining:

    http://tempella.tumblr.com/post/41311839031/thenimbus-heysoo-roselalalonde

  • Really?

@ladybug: Apocalypse Now is based on Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness and in 1991 a documentary, Hearts of Darkness shot by Eleanor Coppola, about the making of Apocalypse now was released. It was about how Francis Coppola and the cast and crew basically lost their minds as the multi-million dollar production went out of control. (It was originally supposed to be a 5 month shoot, but it ballooned into a 14 month shoot.)
    .
The picture of Polish and Kate talking behind the scenes makes me think they’re talking about the documentary, which featured many scenes of Francis and Elanor Coppola discussing what was going wrong.
