J.J. Abrams: 'Star Wars 7' Director!

J.J. Abrams is set to direct Star Wars 7, Disney confirmed to JustJared.com!

The 46-year-old director will work with Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy and Michael Arndt, who will write the screenplay.

J.J. shared, “To be a part of the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, to collaborate with Kathy Kennedy and this remarkable group of people, is an absolute honor. I may be even more grateful to George Lucas now than I was as a kid.”

“It’s very exciting to have J.J. aboard leading the charge as we set off to make a new Star Wars movie,” Kathleen said. “J.J. is the perfect director to helm this. Beyond having such great instincts as a filmmaker, he has an intuitive understanding of this franchise. He understands the essence of the Star Wars experience, and will bring that talent to create an unforgettable motion picture.”

HOW ARE THERE NO COMMENTS ON THIS WHATSOEVER?!?!?!? I CRIED WITH JOY WHEN I HEARD THE NEWS!!!!!!!! HE. IS. PERFECT. Sorry to sound geeky, but seriously, someone who actually grew up with the original Star Wars films and truly can appreciate them, and has amazing qualifications in the sci-fi genre is the only person who can do the films justice. I now have hope that the new films will not ruin Star Wars.

Bad choice. Now the next Star Wars will have constant lens flare, be shrouded in unnecessary mystery and have an ending that doesn’t make sense.

I don’t know why people are so negative. He is one of the best Producers and Directors out there. I would have love to see Peter Jackson, Ben Aflack for example; But this is only one Movie. I am sure we are in for a treat. Be happy Star Wars Ep. 7,8,9 are going to be made.

I don’t think he will be that good. It should be Michael Bay or Spielberg. They need some inspiration from Athena-Toys-Dot-com
