Naomi Watts: 'I Never Get Recognized on the Street'
Naomi Watts chats on her cell phone while leaving the furniture store H.D. Buttercup on Wednesday (January 23) in Los Angeles.
The 44-year-old Oscar-nominated actress is featured in the W Magazine Best Performances feature in the mag’s most recent issue.
Naomi chatted about never being recognized by fans on the street while people push her away to meet her hubby.
“I never get recognized on the street. I’m lucky that way. People see me as the dolled-up movie-star type on the red carpet, but in real life, I don’t look anything like that,” Naomi said. “I blend easily into a crowd. My husband, Liev Schreiber, is really distinct, and quite often people push me aside to get to him. They’ll say, ‘Isn’t that the guy…?’ and list off all his credits. They will then ask, ‘Can you take a photo of us?’ They have no idea who I am.”

She’s definitely right. She was strolling with Liev and their 2 kids in Santa Monica and I recognized Liev right away thinking “Isn’t that….”. He really stands out and I almost didn’t see her. She looks different in real life, not in a bad way, just blends in a crowd like she said. Been wondering if that was her cuz I wasn’t sure. Now I know it was!
In that headshot she looks just like Tea Leoni. lol
Yeah she’s just ‘anybody’
Next interview, she’ll be b itching that people are always invading her privacy, will say or do anything to get an Oscar.
A very over-rated actress.
Wow, that is nice that people don’t recognize her. That is privacy she is lucky to have. I can see how she blends in with her looks.
No one goes to her movies. How would they recognize her on the street.
test
Very few see her movies. Of course very few would recognize her on the street
are they married finally?
Great Actress. She deserved her second Oscar nomination. Very well done, Naomi.
She gets recognized in NY, NYers are just not the type to go and disturb someone on their day out. I personally have seen her in SoHo, thinking “oh look, Naomi Watts”, but I kept it moving. (Unless the fans are teens and the latest teen sensation is spotted of course)
I would know who you were Naomi!
@PrairieDreams: Oh hey, that’s cool! I wish I lived there =)
I don’t know why but I get a really NICE vibe off her… She seems kind. Like, a good person. And besides, she can act ! I like her :)
I think it’s because she’s tiny – around 5 foot 2 I think? Liev Shrieber is huge and hard to miss. Eva Longoria has said something similar, since she’s short also. I’m 5 foot 2 and love the short but beautiful actresses. :)
