Alicia Keys: BlackBerry's New Creative Director!

Alicia Keys hits the stage at the BlackBerry 10 launch event on Wednesday (January 30) at Pier 36 in New York City.

The 32-year-old singer was just appointed the smartphone company’s new global creative director!

“I’m fascinated by technology. I’ve always wanted to work directly with a technology company,” Alicia said (via Mashable). “I wanted to do something where I could grow professionally and personally.”

“Now we’re exclusively dating again, and I’m very happy,” Alicia said after joking about using other smartphones in the past.

fake title….these celebs put their name on anything for a paycheck

  • Sarah.

Creative director? Really? But hasn’t blackbarry had it’s time? I know so many people who only got a bb because of the hype. And most of them couldn’t stop complaining about it.

  • merlz

not even Floplicia Keys can save RIM

  • Love The Shoes

I am a committed BB user and have been for a minute. I love them and will be getting my 10 soon.

  • Love The Shoes

BB’s are for grown folk btw.

  • XxXxX

Cool. I’ve been a devoted BlackBerry user for a long time. I had mine for more than two years and I had NOTHING to complain about. It was amazing and I had absolutely no problem with the phone. I was actually sadened not to hear anymore of BB. I had to get a new smartphone so I am now using an Iphone but I was totally team BB :p if they come up with a new one, I’d buy it =)

  • XxXxX

They use celebrities to make it attractive. People will get the smartphones if someone like her promotes it! I love the idea of her and Blackberry together :)

RIP RIM. This makes no sense for anyone involved. I understand RIM wanting to appeal to the younger market, but you have to do that with exciting tech – not (exceptionally) odd endorsements/fake celebrity postings. Oh look, another candybar iphone/android -like device, and a celebrity association shining a light on how behind-the-curve RIM remains.

Damn the hate is strong in this post. Why do people feel like the need to down something before knowing anything about it.

  • Cat in the hat

Everything I heard about the new BB is good. The only issue people are having with is the lack of apps, which I’m sure they will fix once there are enough users. BB is still heavily used in the business world so I don’t see it completely going away.

  • Lunemoon

I’m not going to jump to conclusion like some people on this site. I’ll give her and the new BB a chance. It looks great and is getting good reviews so far.

  • Dave Franco

BB10 is gonna make a surge. IPHONE sucks at photos, Samsung is taking over Apple but it’s not that great, Blackberry will make a comeback

  • Jody

@Dave Franco: Shut your little bitty behind up!! Boy ya so short, lookin like a pillow wearing shoes, and a suit in ya last pic! Little bitty Davey, the pretty boy that is unfortunately the size of a little bitty baby!!

I love your piano songs Alicia!!! Waiting for you in Spain

  • miapocca

BB continues to make the same mistake over and over again,.they just do not know whats in with the population…where is thier market research department.

Alicia Keys is barely surviving…want to appeal to a broad range, get different folks who appeal to different age group, even bad publicity helps at this point

I stopped using bb because of tmobile. so pls check how the networks are abusing your phone

  • miapocca

they love to consistently remain behind. I was with BB for years, loved it because I did not know what I was missing. A bad taste in my mouth over tmobile customer service has me switch to sprint and andriod….

never looked back, dont know if I will ever part with my samsumg note 11
plus the sync with google is tantaAmazing!!

  • Olivia

A fake title again. Gaga was appointed Polaroid’s creative director and nothing came out. A paycheck that’s what it is.

  • just sayin’

All I can say is that she’s looking mighty butch here… and she looks really comfortable that way.

  • Lolita

If they actually hired someone with experience in the feild maybe they’d have a better chance of selling their product. Celebs barley have any clout to sell products nowadays

  • Karen

    @just sayin’:
People have been saying Alicia looks “butch” for years and I never for one minute thought she looked anything like that at all. I pray she never falls victim to people’s stupid little accusations. Alicia has never looked like anything other than the beautiful woman she is and always will be. Just because some people would want nothing more than for her to be what THEY want, it doesn’t mean she has to give into their expectations.
