After seeing Jennifer perform in Boston this summer, I really thought she was on the correct path– on her way—most improved… showed growth—real global star quality (able to perform universally appealing signature material…really moving and major)

???potential….idk….sometimes people can’t get out of their own way

ability but minus honing and fine tuning is still a huge miss

why couldn’t she tell that she was oversinging and drowning out the children….why not try to harmonize/blend in with them? this seems soo basic …should someone have to tell you

not to mention her diction, she garbled the words– was loud and blaring

most times her singing was ugly just loud and awful not pretty, expressive, tender, take time to feel and interpret when necessary

I don’t think that she gets it….this is her challenge—she sings like a 80 yr old woman without proper training and diction a cross between a back alley cabaret singer and a drag queen attempting to sing by blaring loud

she’s done better but it’s not consistent…fantasia has the same problems as do many other artists in this group….education is a sad thing to waste and miss

some of the newer artists show more promise and know-how– with understanding

    what a missed opportunity

To start off, I TOTALLY disagree with Dede. Jennifer Hudson is ia wonderful, powerful, emotion filled singer who IS ON THE CORRECT PATH. There is no need for growth. She is definately STAR quality and beyond.
It was very heart warming to see Jennifer “lead” the children’s chorus from Sandy Hook Elementary School. They chose her because she share a common tragedy with these children. She lost her family members to gun fire several years ago. As mentioned, Jennifer “led” the children’s chorus, not sang in the chorus “with” them. If she did sing “WITH” the chorus, then it would be ok to sing quietly in harmony. I’m not sure how many performances Bebe saw where the leader just harmonized very softly with the choir, but I’m sure there wasn’t ANY (if there was PLEASE let me know, I would love to see it for myself).
I’m not sure what Bebe meant when commented that Fantasia has the same problems as do many artists in this group…..could “THIS” group refer to the “BLACK PEOPLE” group? I find it very odd that since Obama was re-elected that there would be attacks on people from “THIS GROUP”. GET OVER IT/DEAL WITH IT/YOU HAVE NO CHOICE!!!!! If a loud, high pitched opera singer sung this song, I’m sure Bebe would happy. Also, wondering if Dede could tell me how much research was done to pinpoint how much education Jennifer Hudson has. What does education have to do with singing? How much education does Madonna, Lady Gaga, Roseanne Bar, or a rock star have? Are the rock stars singing……they are actually yelling. So you are saying that ALL college graduates took singing lessons. I have a master’s degree/double major…..I did not take chorus in college. What about you Dede?

I actually agree with both sides of the argument. Jennifer Hudson was a brilliant choice, demonstrating to these children how people can embrace life after suffering overwhelming loss. That said, I do feel that she should have joined in harmony with the children. Nevertheless, it was quite powerful and emotional.
