I love Kelly but there is a little too much bombast when she sings. Sometimes subtlety works too, but in this day and age everybody oversings so I guess it is to be expected.

# 2

phenom but i think her acceptance speech stole the show

# 3

@mickey: I disagree, she has complete control over the power behind her voice and she sounded amazing.

# 4

Great singer but she needs a stylist or something. From her hair to her dress to her shoes she looked awful.

# 5

Best vocal performance of the night, I love her

# 6

GOOD LORD. She was so gooood! Standing ovation fully deserved!

# 7

One of the best singers ever! Fantastic renditions of “Tennessee Waltz” and “Natural Woman”!

Agree with the bombast comment. It’s one of the reasons I think that Carrie Underwood is so appealing — she’s got this great, distinctive sound and an incredible range and varied textures to her voice yet keeps a certain modest quality, even when she’s clearly so very happy to be singing and giving the song to the audience. Kelly’s good, no question, but Underwood outperforms her generally. I love the fact that Kelly saw Underwood sing I Know You Won’t and liked it enough to ask Carrie if she, Kelly, could cover it. I hope that Carrie wll release the lovely, accoustically underplayed “Do You Think About Me” in spite of its lack of “drama.” I just love it and play it over and over again.

Are you crazy?
Is the completely opposite, Kelly can sing anything, in any key, low, high, falsetto….ANYTHING. In the other hand, Carrie is one dimensional, use the same trick in every performance, only sounds good when belt a hight note.

Kelly was the best female vocalist of the evening. Carrie is great, too, but I agree with some comments before… Carrie can belt high notes and express emotion well. I feel Kelly has SOUL and a wider range with greater control and vocal agility, can sing rock, pop, or country.

Kelly sounded amazing tonight. I’m so proud of her! Best performance of the night.

Kelly was absolutely awesome. So happy that she won the Grammy for “Best Pop Vocal Album”. Well deserved. So proud to be a fan.

Kelly Clarkson has such a deep, rich sounding voice and when you add in her range, control and power, there’s just no limiting what she is able to do with those incredible vocals. And for that, she is a notch above almost everyone else in music today. Few can sing more than one genre of music but Kelly can sing many including pop, rock, country, R&B, soul and even classical. Each time she sings she makes it look effortless and her Grammy performance was no exception. She doesn’t need all the lights and theatrics to prove just how amazing she really is. She just is, period! Brilliant performance and a well-deserved, long-overdue Grammy win!

@anna johnson:Your comment is a joke. Kelly Clarkson sings WAY BETTER THAN UNDERWOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kelly owns I Know You Wont now. She sings it with way more emotion and OMG Kelly kills it!!!!! Carrie Underwood sounded terrible at the Grammys. My sister even had to turn it off and she is a Carrie fan. haha.
