OlderDaniel Day-Lewis Wins Best Actor Oscar 2013 for 'Lincoln'!
Daniel Day-Lewis was the big winner in the Best Actor category at the 2013 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 24) in Hollywood.
The 55-year-old actor, and three time Academy Award winner, received a standing ovation as he took the stage to accept the award for his portrayal of the main character in Lincoln.
He even made a joke during his acceptance speech that he was supposed to play Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady, and Meryl Streep, who played that role, was supposed to play Lincoln in Lincoln!

I could not believe how the supposedly classy Meryl Streep announced his award. Nobody is more underwhelmed by Denzel Washington than I am but the way she didn’t even pause between his intro as a nominee and “the Oscar goes to Daniel Day-Lewis!” I suppose that was her way of saying it was really no contest, which is what everyone knew and what everyone wanted everyone else to know they knew, too. These people!
And his Lincoln portrayal is historically all wrong and insulting to anyone with a brain and everyone who loves America, like none of these actors.
Such a unique actor.
