Idina Menzel Returning to Broadway in New Musical 'If/Then'!

Idina Menzel is set to return to Broadway for the first time since leaving the cast of Wicked back in 2005!

The 41-year-old actress, who won a Tony Award for her role as Elphaba in the beloved musical, will return to the Great White Way in the new musical If/Then.

Idina will reunite with director Michael Grief, who she worked with on her Broadway debut in Rent back in the 90s. The show was written by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, who are the Tony-winning masterminds behind the musical Next to Normal. With this creative team, we cant wait to see the finished product!

Here’s the show’s synopsis: On the verge of turning 40, Elizabeth (Menzel) moves to New York City, the ultimate city of possibility, intent on a fresh start – new home, new friends, and hopes for a resurgent career. But even in her carefully planned new life, the smallest decision or most random occurrence will impact her world in ways she never dreamt possible. Set against the ever-shifting landscape of modern day Manhattan, If/Then is a romantic and original new musical about how choice and chance collide and how we learn to love the fallout.

If/Then will have a pre-Broadway tryout in Washington, D.C. this November before heading to Broadway in Spring 2014.
