Ryan Gosling Steps Out After Announcing Break From Acting

Ryan Gosling steps out of a hotel and into an awaiting car on Wednesday afternoon (March 20) in New York City.

Earlier that day, a new interview with the 32-year-old actor was released in which he says he plans on taking a break from acting.

“I’ve been doing it too much,” Ryan told the Associated Press about acting. “I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing. I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing it. And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does.”

Before Ryan goes on his break, he will release his new film The Place Beyond the Pines next week. He also has two films currently in post-production and is getting ready to direct his first flick.

What? Why would he take a break? How much time are we talking about here? Well..he has 3 more movies to release so the break will probably be in 2014,I hope it’s not a long break.

Cute cute talented kooky man!

I think it’s a good plan, he has become somewhat overexposed in the last few years, just like Jessica Chastain. Ryan has made some impactful movies, my two favorites: The Believer and Half Nelson.

lazy man! lol

thank god. Glad to hear it. He has the most annoying fans in the whole world. Hope this could shut’em up. Hope BCooper and JLaw could do it too.

please go back to music! we need more Dead Man’s Bones!

Couldn’t agree more, Ryan! Why did you have to do such a pointlessly violent film as Drive?! Hope that for the second act, your filmography will be as respectable as you should rightfully deserve as a thespian with a depth! Way to go, bro!

such a serious guy.

Or after Gangster Squad was such a disaster, Hollywood has finally realized he’s not really a star.

Gotta love these privileged, spoiled actors. Try working an actual 9 to 5 job like most people, moron.

I’m a big fan, but his movie/role choices have begun to get so repetitve and dull. Either playing the same character over and over or doing lame crappy paycheck movies. I had a feeling he was losing a “spark” for acting. And the internet hype has made him quitealmost unbearable. A break is a good decision. By the time he comes back, hopefully Hollywood and the media will have officially moved on to hyping up someone else. It will make him more enjoyable again. What in the world was he even doing in Gangster Squad?

By all means take a break if you need one Ryan but make it short and quick we’ll miss you.

Gerard Butler should listen to Mr. Gosling. More “Lars & the Real Girl” and “Half Nelson,” please. And anything where he takes his clothes off.

Who cares? Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

I would have preferred “Announcing Break From Eva”.

It is a smart move. But please don’t do it for too long. You’re the most interesting actor of your generation together with Fassbender.
And more Dead Man’s Bones, please!!!

@ dean … Why don’t you take a break from reading celebrity gossip sites….who the he!! are you telling actors to take a break, you don’t want to read about them or see them, then don’t click on stories with their face as the headline or watch their movies, SIMPLE and then it would be like they took a break from infringing on your patheic life.

Didn’t Leo DiCaprio just say that he was taking a break too… I think when you’ve worked non stop back to back on projects , and then did non stop publicisty , you need some time off from either working or selling a movie… Don’t know what’s the big deal, most Alist actors do one movie a year sometimes less.

Probably a good thing. His last 3 movies were lame, financially and critically. He should stick with things like Drive and Blue Valentine, at least he gets critical acclaim for those. He should work on his acting chops as well, if he wants to play with the best of them he needs to get better.

Am I supposed to care? He’s so overrated. I won’t miss you nor care if you never come back. Bye!

I read his script for his movie and it’s really weak. Poor, cliche dialogue and some completely useless characters. All style and no substance at all. Maybe he’ll be a decent director but he doesn’t have any real talent in writing at all.

@Casey:
I dont think he wrote it.

He is basicaly a very good actor. I have seen several of his films and he left impact on me. Hope he comes back to make more great movies.

Remember that quote: “I will be making babies when I stop making movies…” Could it be that he’s also planning to become a dad??? That said, I’m distressed and sad and crossed…He’s such a terrific actor, really talented. Hope that break won’t last too long.. Today my heart missed a beat Ryan. Bless you X

Driver actor… boring actor…
