People give him a hard time. But he’s hard working non diva-ish and remains one of the few big names that can still put seats in the theatre despite the movie. Good for him

  • indeed

@Odd: Hard working, like we all do I think. But when he is on his Scientology throne, he is diva-ish unto his toe nails. Scary even.

  • missy

He is hardworking. I’ll give him that. Not sure I agree that he’s “non diva-ish” Heard plenty of stories about him making ridiculous demands.

After all these years, Tom still does it for me. I’ll take him over any of today’s so called “actors/heartthrobs”. He’s the real deal.

  • Garule

Looks like the paid Scientologist posters are out in full force. Let’s see:

Jack Reacher – which didn’t make domestic numbers and didn’t open #1

Rock of Ages – which failed everywhere and was a studio write off

MI: Ghost Protocol – did do well but not as well as previous and is living off the previous successes.

    Knight & Day – didn’t make domestic numbers, didn’t open #1

    Valkyrie – another stinker

So going back to 2008, he’s had one movie that’s done any kind of respectable numbers.

  • Tom is back and happier

Indeed ….commenter since when has Tom said anything about Scientogy. onlythe wanna be famous ex scientologist has said his name to make money! He has had 2 movie premieres. Never said a word
About it… Interviewers never asked him abbey it either! Y do all the
Gay men wish that he was! I love big men ..keep dreaming!

  • TO # 9

Because Cruise hasn’t said anything publically about scientology recently doesn’t mean anything. He STILL supports it wholeheartedly, gives millions per year to it, and is second in charge of the entire thing. His best friend (and the best man at his wedding to KH) is in charge. His name is David Miscavige.

None of that would be a big deal is scientology didn’t violate the human rights of its adherents, steal their money, illegally imprision those who ask too many questions, harass their critics, destroy families and much much more.

Cruise bears responsiblity for that based on his level of involvement. He is NOT just a member. He’s one of the decision makers, hence he is involved in making decisions that are immoral and disgusting. That’s not cool – even if he doesnt talk about it.

Many of us are holding Cruise responsible for his own actions which is why his movies are not doing as well as they used to in the US. I’m an EX fan, and I will never pay to see another Cruise movie again….and believe it or not, there are more of us than you think.

  • Snow White

The scieno bots will be converging on this place now that Tommyboy’s movie is coming out. They’re paid to come here and talk him and his movie up. They did it on a parade mag poll a couple of years ago. ALL the positive Tommy votes came from a couple of computers at the same location. Betcha its the same here.

  • Anonymous

Paid Scientologists? Paranoid much. Compared to other 80′s/90′s big name stars Bruce Willis, Arnold Shwarzenger, Tom Hanks etc Cruise remains the only one that still does decent business here and abroad.
Haters are sad that at 50 his life has not fallen apart

Actually one of the ex-big-wigs with the cult came out and said cult members were told to go out and see Cruise films and to boycott Kidman films. And I believe he also said they were encouraged to defend Tom on blogs. For free. Not paid. If I can find the quote I’ll reference it.

  • Mamie

Tom would talk about the cult if he could. He talked about it a lot when he first married Katie Holmes, but all the negative press he got about it shut him up. His beliefs were over the top and belittled/attacked different groups of people.

    He said/she said

No more innocent until proven guilty

    Where’s the evidence?

    Audio recording? video recording?

Why is everything that ex-whoever says taken as FACT without evidence?

It’s great how the internet works – anything can be posted about anyone and believed as gospel without due process or factual evidence; just hearsay.

So everyone that shows up to Tom Cruise movie premieres or the $200 MIL plus tickets sold for Jack Reacher are all Scientology bought and paid?

Didn’t know that the Scientology numbers are that high in the US ($80 MIL gross) or worldwide ($216 MIL).

Do Scientologist even make up a % for registered members?

One of two new Oblivion spots actually comes complete with some very intriguing new material that give us more insight to just what sort of things happened when the film’s aliens (or are they?) destroyed our planet.

  • M83 – StarWaves

M83′s song StarWaves from the upcoming film, Oblivion –

“Yet just out with his latest action flick, “Jack Reacher,” Tom Cruise remains one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

He’s weathered ridicule, intense speculation about his family life, bumpy stretches at the box office brought on by audience disdain over his personal antics and some ill-considered movie projects.

And Cruise is right where he was when 1986’s “Top Gun” vaulted him to superstardom: On top. Maybe not the same level of on top as the 15-year stretch that began in the early 1990s, when practically every Cruise film was bound to be a $100 million hit.

But for a guy his age, with his baggage, in a business that deifies youth and excommunicates talent when it goes off the deep end, Cruise still prospers.”

“No matter what anyone thinks of his personal life, Cruise has a reputation as one of the hardest working men in show business, with an unparalleled work ethic.”

    *****Grind those teeth!!!*****

  • x

@TSquared: Everyone boycotts Kidman films, not just the Scientologists.

“Tom Cruise Reaches $200 Million Worldwide Gross Mark For 19th Time”

Here is an interesting stat. Reacher, the Christopher McQuarrie-directed adaptation of the Lee Child book series with Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher, has crossed $200 million worldwide. That makes 19 films that Cruise has starred in that have done that well globally. Have any other actors put up those kind of numbers? I can’t think of any.

    [re: Deadline]

Hmmm, yeah, I can’t think of any other actor/actress either.

  • Joseph Kosinski – SCREENRANT

“It was an amazing process. I learned a lot from him. He’s worked with all of my heroes, literally, and just is so knowledgeable and has done so many movies and so many great movies. So through him I was learning from Stanley Kubrick and Michael Mann and Ridley Scott and Sydney Pollack. All that advice and talks they had with him I got to get that second hand and there’s no replacement for that, it was an amazing, amazing opportunity. So I’m really excited about the movie and really proud of it. It was an amazing experience. I would say any director that has a shot at working with Tom, do not hesitate. Go immediately and you will learn, you will be pushed and you will have an experience you will never forget.”

Tom Cruise should never marry again. He sets himself up for ridicule when he puts himself in that position. He should just go about his business on the down low and enjoy life. He is a charismatic and versatile actor when not taking the role too seriously. Great comic timing too.

Well, either Tom Cruise’s pr people are here posting positive articles to counteract all people that hate him or his Sceino minions are doing it. Haha. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. I dont give a crap what some article says. I know Tom Cruise is frickin nuts and in charge of a dangerous cult. All the other PR nonsense doesnt make me like him again.

  • lydia oh lydia

I used to be a really big TC fan. Not anymore tho. His work is still OK but his personal life is horrible. I have read alot about scientology and its scary and horrible. They hold people prisoner, take their money, brainwash them, beat them and do terrible things to them. If he was just a regular member it would be one thing, but he’s second in charge! How could he let those things happen! He’s a terrible person. I am sooooo glad Katie holmes got away from him and got full custody. Plus I hate the stupid and ignorant things he said about women with PPD and how horrible he was on the today show. He is not a nice man. People just like him cause hes goodlooking which does not make him a decent human being.

Chrissy: I admit it. I sit obsessively in front of my computer waiting to post $H!T about Tom Cruise on JJ!

Pick-up a “down with CO$” sign, head to your nearest SCIENO CHURCH and get to pacing.

    Oh….and ***GRIND THOSE TEETH****

The idea of going for 21 projectors to make this work was scary enough. But it was something special.

You’re in that set and you could change the lighting anytime. You just call up a certain scene. You have a sunrise and you could put the sunrise on the left side, right side, anywhere you wanted. You could rotate the whole image around. You could move clouds if you wanted more on one side, or put them on the other side for a reflection somewhere else. And I could light with it, too. I could make a little hotspot on the top and have light pour in. It was very amazing to be in this glass world without a reflection problem.

The basic thing I had to get rid of was the camera’s reflection in the windows. But that was easy. The scene is really beautiful. There’s a shot where Tom Cruise is coming from inside and he goes straight outside and you totally believe he’s there.

Hang on a second. You were lighting the scene with the front-projected images? Lighting by projection. That’s unique. I think the projection was doing 95 percent of the work.

I don’t care about anything about his religion , It’s his right.

TC plays the same kind of character in all his films. And #19, Nicole has an Oscar and has been nominated many times. Tom has never won an Oscar. She plays many different characters. His movies are the same old same old. You can figure them all out 10 minutes into the movie. He’s gonna always come out winning in the end. Always showing people how great he is and doing his own stunts. Big Deal! When’s the last time he’s promoted a film in the United States? His so full of himself. They say he’s the hardest working man in Hollywood…..well, that’s why he can’t keep a wife! He puts his career first.

    Lost your train of thought?
That’s OK, we got it, basically you’re saying — “He’s gonna always come out winning in the end.”

    Certificate of Irishnesss — SWEET!

ruise, who was born Tom Cruise Mapother IV, has ancestry on his father’s side in Kilteevan Co Roscommon and Co Dublin through both the Mapother and Cruise families.

The Gathering has commissioned geneological research which will demonstrate the connection definitively.

There has been a lot of speculation in the past about Cruise’s Irish roots which are in Roscommon and Co Dublin, but new research will be unveiled on Wednesday which will show a more recent connection to Ireland than before.

The Mapother family were originally from Dorset, but have been in Ireland since Elizabethian times.

Cruise’s great-great grandmother was the last Mapother ancestor to live in Ireland. She emigrated to the United States in the middle part of the 19th century.

Universal Pictures International Ireland general manager Dave Burke said: “We are thrilled Tom is returning to Ireland to launch his latest movie, Oblivion. It’s a huge bonus that we can share this new information with Tom about his Dublin heritage.”

Right now, all I see is -he say/she say- and this is primarily between current scieno vs ex scieno media name calling.

    What kind of demands, #3?

Jack Reacher was a huge hit, #8. Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocl did much better than the last Mission: Impossible film. Knight and Day and Valkyrie were also hits.

Cruise has nothing to do with those abuses or the decision-making and you should respect his religious beliefs, #10.

    You’re a gullible idiot, #13.

He can talk about his religion and still does, #14. He just knows that he should respect other people’s beliefs.

He can get married again and still lay low, #22.
