Adam Driver: 'Flaunt' Magazine Feature!

Adam Driver keeps it cool for a feature in Flaunt magazine’s Men’s Spring Fashion 2013 issue, out on newsstands now!

Here’s what the 29-year-old actor had to share with the mag:

On being recognized in the street: “I feel like people think that they’re being subtle, but they’re not. It’s just the way our culture is. Everybody likes things to happen so immediately. Facebook and Twitter and all that stuff scares me because it gives people no room to f–k things up, to be a human, to try things out and fail. I don’t want to participate in that, the idea of just giving everybody everything. There’s no privacy in it.”

On porn: “I remember when porn wasn’t so easy to get to. Like, right when I was in high school things were transitioning. I remember you would have to draw your own porn. Or someone would have it because they stole it from their brother and they would bring it to school and pass it around or have it stashed in their closet. I remember internet trading websites. Porn is so much easier to get to now, it’s obvious. Being in the military, and being around a bunch of guys, porn is traded around like baseball cards.”

On his disappointment over missing military combat because of a mountain-biking injury: “Hugely disappointed. As soon as I got out, my first couple years of Julliard, I made people cry in my class because I was being a dick. I wasn’t adjusted to being a civilian, having to explain myself, or use words to express my feelings. Through acting, actually, I found a way to articulate feelings I had from being in the Marine Corps and putting words to those emotions and experiences was one of the most therapeutic things that could have happened. I was suddenly using language to express myself—and not just brute force.”

Maybe this is mean to say, but why does he keep talking about how disappointed he was he didn’t go to war? War is not an adventure, nor it is a game, and most people don’t look forward to it, unless they’re seriously twisted in the head, and like to kill people. He’s sounding a bit like this, no offense, like he was so ready and pumped up to go kill people. Give it a rest. The more this guy talks the more I dislike him.

He said in an interview how he was really proud to be on this show, or something to that effective, because it stirs up discussion…What kind of discussion does it stir up? Like whether a guy should come on a girl’s chest on prime-time television? This show is no different from the countless other shows/movies out there. It’s selling you sex, and shock, but it’s just wrapping it up in a different package, in the “hipster” package. But it’s not touching any really deep discussions. I also think that Lena is incredibly narcissistic, and I think she takes out her resentment toward other people, by making them do really debasing and humiliating things on her show. Adam Driver, is mistaken, if he thinks he’s not being humiliated, by engaging in borderline rape sex-scenes, in coming on a girl’s chest, and other such things on the show. She’s using/humiliating him, just like she’s doing to the other characters as well.

This show, Girls, is just one big fantasy of Lena’s. It’s her vanity project. She gets a lot of screen time, the other girls/characters are mere shadows when compared to Lena’s character, Hannah. Lena orchestrates everything on this show, on how she would like it to happen in real life. So of course, Adam, the considerably hotter/sexier guy falls deeply in love with Hannah, to the point he can’t function properly, he falls off the wagon, and sabotgates his relationship with a different girl. These are all musings of what Lena Dunham, the person, would like to happen. Adam Driver’s character, is basically there, to stroke Lena’s ego.

Pretty much all of them play themselves on Girls….except maybe Shoshana
